Mixing and matching can be a very smart way to reuse your clothes
and make them look different,
if done correctly.
Now we all know that ethnic clothes and heavy Indian wear can be quite expensive,
and not something that you can keep changing out
every now and then.
So what's better than some unique ways
to make the most of all your ethnic wear?
There are a few basic things to keep in mind
if you want to create an Indian wardrobe
that's extremely versatile and useful for a long time.
Invest in a few statement pieces
that can completely change the look of an outfit.
A neutral heavy dupatta is a wardrobe staple.
It can be worn with a heavy lehenga and
also be used to give your basic anarkali a glamorous makeover.
Also remember to change your drapes dramatically
when repeating dupattas with different outfits.
This will change up your look.
To really test this theory,
try it with a gold or silver dupatta.
While using a statement jacket,
be sure to change up your colour combinations
every time you wear it.
Bear in mind, to get the most use of your statement pieces,
they should not have any striking elements of any other outfit.
For example, a metallic jacket will not be as useful
if it has a touch of lime-green or pink in it
because this will restrict the pieces it can be paired with
Your investment pieces should preferably be in neutral colours or metallics.
If you're investing in a ghagra,
a neutral one like white or cream, can go a long way
as it can be paired with many pieces.
While you can pair your ghagra with a blouse as a lehenga set,
it can also be worn with a jacket anarkali
for a unique, uncoventional look.
A gold, embellished blouse is a great investment.
Since a lot of our Indian wear is bound to have gold details,
a gold blouse is without a doubt
the most versatile piece to have in your closet.
You can collect other pieces like a simple saree or lehenga skirt, that are not as expensive,
and use your statement blouse to create completely different looks.
With these easy tips, you'll be sure to rock a totally different outfit
everytime you step out.
And chances are, you already have some of these statement pieces in your wardrobe.
Do let us know which ones they are!
And until next time, stay tuned & stay Glamrs

3 Fashion Rules to Ignore - Duration: 3:49.
General Douglas MacArthur famously said that rules are mostly made to be broken
and are too often for the lazy to hide behind. Well, you know who else loves
their rules, people in the world of fashion.
They love rules! And they want you to follow their rules. Not last year's rules.
Those rules are out of date. They're obsolete. They're talking about a whole
new set of rules for this year. We're all going to pretend that these new set of
rules, these are the ones we're gonna use moving forward for eternity. Well, I'm not
against all rules. For example, when I pull my son down the road and we hit the
ramp, he's going to be wearing a helmet, right? Because that's a good rule to follow. But
I want to kind of cover a few rules that I think we can kind of downgrade from rule
to maybe more like suggestion, or preference. So we'll run inside and take a look at
those. So, I think the first rule we can kind of downgrade is the rule that says
button-down collars should not be worn with ties. So, the reasoning behind this
is that what the button-down collar was made for is to help control the collar
when you're not wearing a tie. When you're wearing a tie, everything's all
kind of buttoned up and all set. What the buttons do is help keep the collar down
when you're just wearing an open collar with a sport coat or just business
casual. But I say, hey, if you want to wear a tie with a button down collar, go for it.
You'll be fine. I would say the only thing to be
conscious of is that you want to make sure that the tie knot you're using is
the same size and allows for the space that you're using. So, for example, you
don't want a really big knot with a narrow gap. And it's often times
button-down collars are a little more narrow than a spread collar. So, rule
number two. And this one gets really crazy, is the one that says "pleated pants
should have cuffs and plain front pants should have no cuffs." So, here's a pair of
pleated pants, right? Those are called pleats right there. And they
traditionally come with cuffs, compared to plain front pants where there are
no pleats. It's just plain across the front. And those traditionally come with what's
called plain bottoms, no cuffs. What's funny about this, is that there's always
other rules that kind of get piled on top and supersede each other. So, there's
another rule that says if you're wearing a tuxedo,
tuxedo pants never have cuffs. So, even if they're pleated, no cuffs. Or guys who wear
cowboy boots. Cowboy boots also, those pants, never cuffs. And then, what's on top
of that, what's really funny, is that what's kind of trendy nowadays is
wearing plain front pants with cuffs. So, all these rules get all jumbled up again.
I say, if you want cuffs on your pants, great. If not, go for it.
The third rule that we can downgrade is the rule that says, "Suits should never be
broken up and worn separately as a sport coat or just a pair of pants with
something else." Now once again, there's some logic behind this. The idea is that
you don't want to have a suit and you're constantly wearing the jacket and next
thing you know the jacket has been worn out and the pants are still in great
shape. So, I can appreciate that. What I've found though, is that most guys,
if you're like me, we wear pants all day long but just our jacket for part of the
day. Most of the time it just kind of hangs up behind our office door, right?
And so our pants wear out first anyhow. So, I say, hey, get some more use out of
your jackets or your suit jackets and I would wear this as a sport coat, often
times by itself. So, those are a couple of suggestions I have of rules. Don't take it
too seriously. If you have some suggestions for me of some rules I
should be breaking, I'm always looking for more ways to become rebellious. So,
just message that below, or if you have any ideas for future videos, send me
a message there. I love to hear what you think. So, now I have a bet to discover
here. I think he can make it 40 feet. My wife says 60, if we get him going fast
enough. We'll see.
