Over half of fatalities occur at night, and almost 25 percent occur on unlit roads.

We have seen some improvement.
For 2018, about half of the vehicles earn a good or acceptable rating, but there's still
a significant number of vehicles that only earn a marginal
or poor rating on their best-available headlight.
Good-rated headlights are required to qualify for our 2018 TOP SAFETY PICK+ award and only
two vehicles are available with good headlights across all trim lines.
Those are the 2018 Genesis G90 and the 2018 Lexus NX.
The 2018 Hyundai Kona offers both good-rated LED headlights and poor-rated halogen headlights.
In our testing, the good-rated LEDs illuminate the right edge of the road at
450 feet, compared to only 220 feet for the poor-rated halogen headlights.
Often good-rated headlights are only available on expensive trim lines or in expensive packages.
An example is the 2018 Honda Ridgeline, which
will cost you almost $12,000 more to get good-rated headlights.
The 2018 Kia Soul is only available with good-rated headlights when you pay $26,000.
In comparison, a base model with poor-rated headlights is only $16,000.
We've seen some improvement since our initial testing in 2016, but consumers shouldn't
have to buy a fully loaded vehicle in order to get good-rated headlights.
All new vehicles should come with good-rated headlights.

I mean it's about her tape and it's about being under the influence so we
got to be a little careful with that now also I apologize I know I probably
ruined pancakes for a lot of you so maybe let's go with something that like
nobody likes this time what about cooking eggplant let's be real no one
likes eggplant okay so back to the story cooking eggplant would have been a
pretty good explanation for why Kim made the bad decision to make the tape well
actually it ended up being a good decision because if it weren't for that
tape Kim Kardashian wouldn't be as famous as she is she wouldn't have a
reality show and kanye west wouldn't even know who she is if you guys haven't
seen our previous video it's clickable on the screen right now so i'm gonna
give you a quick update on that story because the plot has definitely
thickened the tea is hot my friends it is hot
back in 2007 kim's tape with her then-boyfriend ray jay was leaked and it
skyrocketed her to international fame but recently I guess Kim made the excuse
that she made the tape while she was cooking eggplant
I feel like eggplant was a really interesting choice Kim said that it was
totally obvious that she was cooking eggplant during the tape because her jaw
was quivering Kim also said that she only cooked eggplant twice once with Ray
J and once when she married Damon Thomas she said every time I did it something
bad happened so this made international headlines everyone was talking about Kim
Kardashian and her love of eggplants but here's where this gets a little awkward
I guess Ray J found out about this how could he not and he decided to basically
tell everyone that came Kardashian is a big fat liar
he said that Kim was not cooking eggplants or under the influence of
alcohol when they made their tape but he did say that she out of
a shaped I don't know why that's so funny to
me but it makes the eggplant joke even funnier
so maybe Kim did lie and maybe this was just a way to get people to watch
Keeping Up with the Kardashians because she said it and last Sunday night's
episode what's the matter Kim readings a little
low lately hmm anyways I'm not sure who to believe guys people close to Kim
Kardashian's said that Ray J could have been offended by Kim saying that she was
under the influence I guess it is kind of like Kim saying I only made that tape
with you because I was cooking eggplant watching the tape again yes we watched
it for research purposes and upon further inspection it does seem
like Kim could be under the influence of something and like I doubt it's I'm
not sure if you guys have done a before but it makes your eyes really
sleepy Kim's eyes are wide as wide can be during this tape by the way I can say
this because is legal in Canada hey yeah also I never noticed this before
but Kim Kardashian was chewing gum during part of this tape people who are
cooking eggplant do chew gum so maybe that also backs up her claim I don't
know maybe Kim just wanted her breath to smell better I personally don't really
care either way if she was under the influence of anything but I do care that
she lied sources close to Kim said that she has no reason to lie about something
that happened 15 years ago and it's like yeah actually she does Kim has said in
the past she wants people to know the real her and because of how she got
famous the tape people don't see the real her saying that you did something
bad while under the influence somehow makes it like less bad it's like an
excuse and also Kim has another reason to live because it could boost ratings
on Keeping Up with the Kardashians I guess there's no real way to know if Kim

The visual elements that we were trying to include in the development of this ship
went right from the architectural drawings,
then into the plans and into the white box.
Looking at camera angles, looking at lighting, looking at the atmospherics,
the suspense and the claustrophobic feel that we wanted to develop.
<i>What was that?</i>
It was very difficult to understand
what a ghost ship of this nature would look like after sixty years,
there is not a lot out there.
And looking at research for how ships rust and decay and age
we took this and exaggerated those feelings and atmospheres
to create what we wanted for our ship.
In order to make the ghost ship sound as real as possible
the team gained access to a similar era military vessel, a big steel ship.
We recorded all sorts of sounds on there
all the latches on the doors
to help the foley the character contacting with the environment
when they are on the ghost ship.
All of the atmospheres in the different rooms, the engine room,
all the different mechanisms available there.
We even recorded impulses of each of those rooms so that
each room has the identical environment reverb
that you would have had of a ship of that type.
When we were looking to light the ghost ship environment
it's really important that
the tone and atmosphere that's coming from the lights
also compliments the story that we are trying to tell,
its not always a nice place to be so everything just can't be well lit and visible,
we want to make sure that we are guiding the player
around those environments
in a satisfying way as well as transmitting the mood
that we want them to feel when they are in there.
So we looked at doing things like
breaking holes in the roofs, breaking holes in the walls
where ambient light can leak in and fill a little bit of the environment.
But as well as that sometimes we need to have
spotlights and cinematic lighting such as you would on a film set
in order to make sure that the characters look suitably heroic,
menacing, scary or whatever the scene required.

The woman who was having an affair with Chris Watts seemed certain that he was going to leave his wife in the weeks before her death.
Reports from the investigation into the murders of Shanann, Bella and Celeste Watts reveal that Nichol Kessinger spent over two hours searching the internet for wedding dresses exactly one week before Watts killed his family.
Then, on the night before the murders, Kessinger spent 45 minutes Googling 'how to prepare for anal sex,' 'the anal sex guide,' soon after began looking at videos of threesomes on a pornographic website.
The final Google search conducted by Kessinger that was noted by investigators came after the murders of August 19 when she looked into how much money Amber Frey made in her book deal and her net worth, while also searching 'did people hate Amber Frey.
Frey was the mistress of Scott Peterson during the time that he killed his wife Laci and their unborn child.
A search of Watts' phone meanwhile found thousands of hidden photos in a secret calculator app that was only accessed by typing in a four digit code. A number of those pics showed a nude or semi-naked Kessinger.
Kessinger's phone was not the only one investigators searched after the murders.
Shanann's phone that was searched as well after her body was recovered, revealing that she had been on GroupOn searching for a way to afford a cheap weekend escape for her and Chris.
On the night before her death she even lined up the child care for the weekend, getting the babysitter who was watching her daughters Bella and Celeste on Saturday to return the following Friday ahead of the woman who would be spending the weekend with the girls.
At the same time, Watts was with Kessinger discussing his next steps and the apartment he planned to get when he separated from his wife.
He had told Shanann he was at a baseball game, but her suspicions had grown so strong that she told friends of her plan to confront her husband when she returned from her work trip in Arizona.
In a text sent to her friend Ady, Shannon wrote out the entire speech she planned to deliver on Monday, after she had returned home and gotten some rest.
'Can you please tell me something, because just like you, I'm in my head? I try to fix things and make them better and this is making me crazy. I know that you need time.
I want to give you what you're asking for and respect your space, I need some time. This place that I'm in, in my head, is not a good place,' read the text.
'lt is not healthy for me, or Niko. I need you to help me help you.
I need you to give just a little bit of what I did, or didn't do, so t,m not going crazy in my head to figure it out.
I know I can't fix this by myself; that, we are going to have to work together.'. She then got on a plane and was not heard from again after her friend dropped her off at home.
Watts would later send a text to her phone just before 8am asking where she was, shortly after he buried her body in a shallow grave.
He then looked up the lyrics to a Metalica, called the school his girls were set to enroll in and told them that they would not be attending and called up a hotel in Aspen.
It is unclear if he was trying to cover himself with that move or use the trip as a romantic getaway for himself and his mistress.
By noon multiple people were asking about Shanann's whereabouts, and to one inquiry Watts responded: 'l just talked to Nicki. Shanann went to a friend's house with the kids today. I haven't heard from her since. I will keep you updated though.'.
The situation grew increasingly fraught over the next few hours texts show, with Watts imploring people not to contact the police.
The friend who dropped Shanann off was the most concerned, writing at one point: 'l have been to your house you won't open your door, your alarm is set, your shoes are sitting inside, your car's home, lam so very concerned about you right now.
I need you to text me or call me and just tell me OK. lf you don't wanna talk to nobody, you don't wanna be around nobody, I get it, its fine, but I need to know you're OK.'.
Soon after a number of Shanann's friends texted one another that Watts was likely behind his wife's disappearance. This was 24 hours after Watts set his plan in motion.
Watts had taken the girls to a birthday party on the afternoon of Sunday, August 12, and while Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3, played in the pool their father started texting co-worker Kodi Roberts.
At 506pm that evening, Watts set in motion his plan for disposing of his wife and daughters' bodies, as he texted Roberts that he would be making the drive out to one of the more distant oil fields that was managed by his company, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation.
It is also where the bodies of Shanann, Bella and Celeste were discovered just days after they went missing.
Watts, per his own admission in interviews with law enforcement officials, then took his daughters home, gave them both showers, fed them pizza and got them each a snack before putting them to bed.
He noted that both girls were eager to see their mother, who was due to return home late that night. Hours later, the girls and their mother Shannan were all murdered in the house, and their bodies disposed of at Cervi 6-29.
Shanann's father was one of the last people to see the girls, revealing he spoke to them on FaceTime on Sunday evening.
Frank Rzucek stated in an interview with law enforcement officials that he spoke with both Watts and Bella, who was eating cold pizza and candy. He made no mention of seeing Celeste.
Watts claimed that he put the girls down before 8pm and that Bella woke up twice, running out to ask when her mom would be returning home.
The young girl's father and soon-to-be-murderer admitted to assuring her that she would see her mother in the morning.
A babysitter, who was the sister of the birthday boy whose party Watts and the girls attended that Sunday, also spoke with an agent with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
She said that on Saturday Watts had asked her to watch the children while he attended a Rockies game, though it was later revealed that he was actually on a date with his mistress, Nichol Kessinger.
She had babysat for the girls the previous evening, when Watts had claimed to be attending a Colorado Rockies game.
The babysitter said that while watching the girls Shannan called at 7. 50pm to check on the children' while she was away and later posted a photo.
There was nothing remarkable that happened that night save for Watts returning home at 10. 30pm, later than he had promised to be back at the house.
It was also her first time babysitting for the family, with the normal sitter who is a close friend of Shannon's not called in for reasons that are not stated in the reports.
