Met Gala 2018 Fashion Recap With Special Guest, Aquaria - Duration: 7:52.
Welcome to a very special edition of Report Card.
We have a fabulous guest with us today, Aquaria.
Bonjour everyone.
And we're here to talk about the Met Gala.
Yes, heavenly body-ody-ody.
We're going to start with a bang and that's Katy Perry.
Yes, a blonde pixie cut with a bang.
Yes!
Loving it, living for it- I actually- you all brought in the drag queen today so you're
going to get my drag queen opinion.
It's definitely in your face and loud, but I think that's what we've come to know and
love from Katy Perry.
Something very campy and I think it's a fierce, regal take on the campy side of Catholicism.
It's a little bit much, it's a bit of a costume but to your point-
It's very costume-y but that's what I'm loving right now.
I'm accepting that it is a lot more than an outfit and just enjoying it for a costume.
I agree it's much more than an outfit- Just a little bit more than an outfit-
Yeah, absolutely She's really doing the most.
Obviously this has become a bit of a Costume party, as a costume that is great but as a
fashion moment, for me, it's a little bit too much.
I would probably give her a B for fashion.
I actually completely agree with you I was going to say B. Lots of fun, very exciting,
something you can talk about, something that can be very trending online.
I'm more in like a C+ area.
Typical Typical, to me there's just something a little-
quite literally I was- I could not stop laughing when she was on the red carpet.
To me it's comical.
Next up we have Rihanna in Margiela giving me the Pope embodied.
Fabulous, love it, the embellishments are gorgeous and this is definitely like nice,
tight, refined packaged, shipped, Amazon Prime, go off!
Fabulous.
Love the styling and the hair, she is like, "I'm going to be the top of the Catholic church."
Correct, I'm going to rule here.
And I do love, however, the way she's wearing the sleeves.
Basically it felt like an oversize coat off the shoulder giving me a street wear feel
to me that I really like because at the same time you still have to come across as believable.
I think this our best of the night; I think this is an A.
I agree, also, I think we should give her an A for going to John Galliano.
Absolutely.
For choosing John Galliano from Margiela to do the outfit.
John Galliano has a history of always playing with Catholicism and Christian references
on his runway shows over the years, and to go to a master like that is really smart.
One of the kings of drama- Correct, correct so yeah if you're going to
go and take a risk, go for the best basically.
Now we're on to Virgil and Kendall in this, well, the color is off white as is the brand.
It's very wedding, gay wedding at a gay cruise.
But like if we're just going to go for easy and basic and pretty, we did it!
I think we're in the C category.
Yeah, C. Still fabulous but just not for today!
I also think that a gay wedding is very heavenly to me, but thematically I think this feels
really flat, so yeah we're in the C level.
We were going for heavenly bodies not like heavens to Betsy, this is that.
OK, we're talking about Alessandro Michele the designer of Gucci and Lana del Rey and
Jared Leto.
Or as I like to call them, the father, the son and the holy ghost.
The holy ghost!
Yep that's correct.
We have a lot of thoughts- What do we think of this?
Gorgeous, I think this evening was totally triumphed by Gucci.
Gucci slayed nearly everyone that they walked.
I think she is basically the third wheel, she is the holy ghost.
They, they just- are they not the same person?
Like are Jared- the more we see Jared and Alessandro they are, they're the same.
They're twinsies.
They're twinsies.
The look like the same person.
It's sort of a beautiful love story I think that's unfolding before our very eyes.
They get, probably, an A-, but they need to work together so they always need to be together.
I think I'm going to give it an A, I love it.
Lana turns it out.
I'm like, yeah B+/A- area, as a trio.
OK we have Madonna, who we sort of knew this theme was like really ready for Madonna, Madonna
was ready for the theme.
Religious iconography, Madonna- Yeah, bring her out!
And she came out and she looked kind of fabulous.
She looks like she's living her best life, she looks like she's so comfortable in what
she's wearing.
I think this is her wheelhouse of aesthetic and imagery.
She went with Jean Paul Gaultier like her long time, long time collaborator.
Gaultier designed all her Blonde Ambition outfits and many other tours later, the cone
bra, all these iconic moments.
I think she's an A. Oh yeah, absolutely an A.
OK so next we're doing Zendaya in this fabulous sort of - it's costume-y but it's also a fashion
moment.
I think it's kind of hitting both of those things.
It's very slaying dragons on the way to the Gala.
It's like the divas of the roundtable for sure.
I kind of live for it, I love any like chainmail metal Versace moment.
It's fun, I know you don't love it though.
I don't love it, I mean I do like the idea of Joan of Arc.
I mean, Joan of Arc at the end was burned alive because they thought she was-
Oh that sucks!
Right!
I don't think she should, this dress should not be burned-
It is a little polarizing as an outfit but for her to be able to sell it to all of us,
I give her a B. Yeah-
Yeah.
Solange we- obviously she always part of some sort of controversy, she's really outspoken.
I really sort of love what she's wearing, it's difficult to describe.
I like the idea of latex and holiness together, I think it's a very interesting tension.
Also she loves a monochrome moment.
I also like the idea that she's carrying water with her, I mean-
Oh that is a bottle of water.
Well just like Jesus hopefully she turns that water into wine in a couple of minutes.
I'm going like B+.
Right, I- what do you think?
I think, yeah B+, um, B+/A- somewhere in between.
I am personally going for an A- myself because I have a- I think that is interesting, the
subversive element of the latex with the holy.
My favorite look of the night is very difficult because I love Madonna, I think in terms of
like the godmother of the theme she deserves respect.
In a while, I'll still always remember that Rihanna was my showstopper, number one of
the night.
She showed up simple, not too crazy but like also insane at the same time, and that's what
I love so I'm going to say Rihanna.
And I'm going to be boring and say the two, it was a Rihanna Madonna night.
She was giving the Papal what they wanted!
Obviously we are so happy that you joined us.
Thank you so much.
Yeah thank you for being here!
My pleasure.
And tune in next week for our next Report Card.
I won't be there but tune in!

Late-Night Hosts React to Met Gala 2018 Theme, Stars' Fashion Choices | THR News - Duration: 2:27.
"Frances McDormand came dressed as ficus."
The 2018 Met Gala provided late night hosts with a welcome chance
to take a break from joking about politics to focus on fashion's biggest night instead.
Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert actually attended Monday's
annual fundraising benefit for New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art,
and seemed to revel in the "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the
Catholic Imagination" theme, as they were both altar boys as children.
"Just two altar boys getting ready to meet the bishop!"
The 'Late Show' host also did his best impression of the Gregorian-esque
chants, which acted as background music
for Madonna's performance of "Like a Prayer"
before going through some of the fashion of the night.
Colbert, who was named by GQ as one of the best dressed men
at the Gala, jokingly referred to Chadwick Boseman as
the "Pope of Wakanda" and even
found a practical use for Katy Perry's Versace getup.
"Katy Perry found a way to beat the traffic and get there faster than everybody else."
Like Colbert, 'The Tonight Show''s Fallon also
mimicked the Gregorian chants on his NBC show…
He also told an anecdote from earlier in his Met Gala evening.
Fallon explained that he was admiring the choir -- from the
Sistine Chapel no less -- and suspected Madonna would make a
surprise appearance, when all of a sudden, she showed up next to him.
"I guess she's not performing, so I go, uh,
'You look fantastic' and s he goes, 'bless you.'" \
That wasn't the only surprise the Grammy-award winning singer
had in store for the privileged attendees.
Fallon described a portion of the night where he was
watching more and more chanting monks appear on stage until...
"There's like 20 monks on the thing, and the one monk
in the middle takes the robe off, it's Madonna."
On Comedy Central's 'The Opposition,' Jordan Klepper was
significantly less in awe of Gala, an event to which he wasn't invited.
In fact, according to Klepper, "Met" actually stands for...
"Metrosexual elitists think they're better than you and won't invite you
to their parties even though you have a hit show and fun hair."
The host also condemned the "Heavenly Bodies" theme as "totally inappropriate."
"I mean, Jesus Christ, religion is sacred, God damn it!"
Klepper then showed footage of Rihanna dressed as a female pope,
joking that it was "hugely offensive" to the history of the papacy,
which is, quote, an "institution that has never been corrupt in any way."
To watch full clips of the late-night hosts having fun with this year's
Met Gala theme, head to THR.com.

country.
Some Rockabilly girls prefer a punk or gothic twist to the look.
