it's time for show-off Sunday, where everyone has a chance to show off their
own car, and here's this week's winner
this is my 1973 280CE, it's only done 75,000 original miles, I purchased it
from the original owner and have owned it for about two years, it's one of the
cars in my Mercedes collection, I do believe it's one of the best unrestored
280CE coupes in the world, the interior is in excellent condition
there's no tears, no rips, no sagging on the seats, they are all original from
Mercedes, carpets are in excellent condition they're all original never
been replaced, roof lining is like new all original, no cracks in the dashboard
I have all the original ownership paperwork, I'm the second owner of this
car, full service history, data card option list everything is in there, I've
added these carpets on top of the original ones just to protect the
original ones underneath which are also in mint condition like new, steering
wheel is like new, no cracks no scratches the only thing that's not original in
the car would be the radio and the speakers in the back, this car has the
famous straight-6 m110 engine which is well known for being bulletproof, these
engines can just about last forever if well-maintained, the engine
produces 185 horsepower and is very smooth, this car also has the manual
gearbox which is rare and more enjoyable to drive
I only drive this car a few times a year, but I do take it for a quick quickly
drive to keep everything right, the original owner has always garage to
keep it like new, the paintwork is in excellent condition and I have recently
had it ceramic coated, this car features the original alloy wheels but some other
models came with the hubcap wheels, I
think the 280CE is one of the best looking classic cars it's elegant and
very unique looking, it drives very much like a modern car it's very comfortable
I could drive it all over the country without getting tired, my car has been
very well maintained and drives like the day it came out of the factory, the
engine runs very quietly and starts first time, the steering is very tight
with no play at all, one of the most exciting features of this car for me is
the perlis windows, you almost feel like you're in a convertible, this body style
was produced between 1968 and 1976 with nearly 2 million cars made, however only
around 7,500 were 280CE coupes, I have owned over 100 classic Mercedes over the
