Hello everybody, my name is Bryan,

today I will be showing you how to create a decorative wooden mailbox,

but before we begin, here are a couple of quick tips

If at all possible plan before you build,

whether you use a pencil and paper

or my preferred method Google Sketchup,

planning will ultimately save you time and money

Secondly, whenever using power tools always wear the required personal protective equipment.

For this build I will be using hearing, eye, and respiratory protection

Here are the tools I will be using

And here are the materials I will be using

Let's begin,

first carefully measure and mark all of the pieces

I usually mark each piece of wood with its location

and measurements to prevent any confusion

Second, it's time to make the cuts

Take your time and be very careful

Before we go any further

we need to make sure all of the pieces fit together

Next we will sand all of the rough edges

Now we can start assembling the mailbox

Whenever possible use wood glue,

the glue is actually stronger than the wood itself

Here I am using a nail gun

but if you're using a hammer

you will need to clamp the pieces together to dry

It's now time to paint,

be sure and use a good outdoor paint

After the paint has dried

we can affix the hardware and shingles
