North Korea has been relatively quiet over the last couple months.
They hadn't tested a missile since September.
But on Wednesday morning, they test fired a ballistic missile that they claim is a new
type that can strike anywhere on the US mainland.
Its called a Hwasong-15, a more advanced version of the intercontinental ballistic missile
that it launched back in july.
The missile was reported to have flown for 50 minutes at a high trajectory.
It reached 2796 miles, or 4500 kilometers above the earth, which if you didn't know
is 10 times higher than the interneational space station.
It came down and 621 miles from the launch site, off the west coast of japan.
The US defence secretary, james mattis, said that this missile went higher than any previous
shot they've taken.
According to north Korean propaganda, This missile has the capability of carrying a super
large heavy warhead.
While North Korea announced this on the state news, it simultaneously declared itself a
complete nuclear state.
Kim jong un oversaw the missile test, which launched in Pyongsong.
At this time, it hasn't been completely proven that they can add a miniature nuclear
warhead with a long range missile.
Yes, the missile could have the capability to hit the mainland on its own, but if you
add a nuclear warhead to that missile, its going to make it heavier, which will change
the trajectory.
This was north korea's 20th missile test of the year.
All of these tests are prohibited under UN sanctions placed on north korea.
South korea, in response, tested its own missile.
South Koreas president, Moon Jae in said that he is worried that the US could launch a pre
emptive strike on north korea, which could escalate into a full-fledged war.
Japans Prime Minister Shinzo abe also called the missile launch, intolerable, and called
for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.
The US secretary of state said that the US is still committed to finding a peaceful path.
President trump was quoted saying 'we will take care of it, it is a situation that we
will handle.
That is all for now, and thanks for watching IO.

'Fight and WIN' US tanks roll towards North Korea ready to DESTROY Kim Jong-un missiles - DAILY NEWS - Duration: 2:53.
'Fight and WIN' US tanks roll towards North Korea ready to DESTROY Kim Jong-un's missiles
DOZENS of US tanks are ready for battle close to the North Korean border should war break
out in the wake of Kim Jong-un's latest missile test.
As the North Korea crisis reaches fever pitch, US tank crews have been conducting live firing
drills near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in South Korea.
The Texas-based battalion has been practicing shooting pop-up targets as part of its training
regime at a firing range close to the DMZ.
Captain Andrew Gregory, commander of the 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, said tank
crews are training to ensure they are "fully confident they can fight and win".
Preparing them to fight on rough terrain at the front line if war erupted on the Korean
peninsula is crucial to US military strategy, he said.
"This fight [a potential conflict with North Korea] can come down to one or two tanks holding
a critical road juncture or valley pass," he added.
Meanwhile, South Korean soldiers carried out a military exercise in tanks near the border
in Paju, South Korea, on Wednesday.
The prospect of war has heightened considerably after North Korea launched another intercontinental
ballistic missile (ICBM) – its "most powerful" yet.
North Korea supreme leader Kim Jong-un declared his hermit kingdom a "nuclear force" after
launching the "upgraded" Hwasong-15 missile last night.
US President Donald Trump vowed to "handle the situation" as the communist regime celebrated
its successful launch.
Trump, who told reporters he would "take care of it" on Tuesday, is yet to reveal
how the US will respond to the missile launch.
In the past, Trump has resorted to military pressure in the form of joint drills with
South Korea and Japan aimed at intimidating North Korea.
His tankers – known as "Mustangs" – could feature in his ground plans, alongside his
Navy fleet of warships and aircraft carriers in the Pacific Ocean.
Gregory said his tank crew has been preparing for specific missions – such as countering
weapons of mass destruction.
"But the bottom line is we're a combined-arms battalion that needs to conduct offensive
and defensive tasks," he said.
"The tank crew is the building block for that."

First pics of North Korea missile launch that could turn US into 'SEA OF FIRE' - DAILY NEWS - Duration: 2:16.
First pics of North Korea missile launch that could turn US into 'SEA OF FIRE'
NORTH Korea has released the first pictures of the launch of its terrifying new missile
last night.
The Hermit State has revealed shocking images of last night's test of its new intercontinental
ballistic missile which could wipe out the US mainland.
Nuke-nut leader Kim Jong-un can be seen smoking a cigarette as the North fired its rocket
higher than ever before.
A laughing Kim watched as the new missile soared 4,500km (2,800 miles) and traelled
620 miles before landing in Japanese waters.
Nuke-nut leader Kim's move sparked a furious retaliation from South Korea as it launched
a missile exercise.
Meanwhile US President Donald Trump vowed: "We will take care of it."
This was the first missile launch since the rogue state fired over Japan in mid-September.
The secretive state had remained eerily quiet over the past two months as fears grew over
tyrant Kim's health.
On last night's launch, the US-based Union of Concerned Scientists warned the missile
could have travelled more than 13,000km on a standard trajectory.
This means the rocket could reach "any part of the continental United States".
The launch took place in Pyongsong, South Korean news agency Yonhap reported.
Japan reacted by saying they would "never accept North Korea's continuous provocative
behaviour".
North Korea has long tried to build a nuclear missile capable of wiping out the US, repeatedly
threatening to turn the country into a "sea of fire".

Small Business Survival: Inter-State Aviation Inc. - Duration: 3:30.
My name is Doug Gadwa
I am the President
of Inter-State Aviation Inc.
Which is a
full service FBO
at the Pullman-Moscow Airport.
We have been in business here since 1984.
We're making a living
for about 15 employees here.
The construction has been
very little effect on our business,
except for dust.
Over night, our windshields
are covered with dust.
Tops of the wings, the whole airplane,
even if it's sitting in a hangar.
Our hangar floor is covered
with fine dust.
The part that is going to be troublesome,
for us is,
this next summer, they're planning,
potentially, a 45 day airport closure.
Tail end of the project,
there is going to be an airport closure.
Now those will effect the...
FBO's... income...
and it is a....
unkown right now
how we're going to mitigate
that problem when it gets here.
One of our biggest customers is
Schweitzer Engineering
with their Citation X's.
We fuel them several times a week.
If they're based in Lewiston
Instead of Pullman for the closure,
Somebody in Lewiston is going to be their refueler.
It will be a hurdle that
I don't believe there is federal funding
to assist us with that.
I wish there was,
but we will have to deal with it
when the time comes.
I am coming up on retirement,
I hit 66 here this next month.
and I'd like to slow down,
but it will be a real unknown.
The economic impact of an airport closure,
is not just the FBO.
The impact to our community
for that closure will be
many, many, many dollars
that are awful, awful hard to calculate.
I'm worried about my business,
but I'll be concerned about
everybody else's busines
if it is a complete closure.
I'm hoping they can work around it.
If you haven't done an intro flight
or a sightseeing flight in the Palouse,
you should take that opportunity, because
spring of the year, May and June,
this area is absolutely beautiful,
and you should take advantage if you live here.
Go for an introductory flying lesson.
