Auto news on Youtube Oct 5 2017

This past week, 60 people were shot dead for no discernable reason, with a further 527

injured in what was the worst gun attack in Modern American history.

This happened in a country that often holds itself in high esteem compared to other nations,

a country that clings to its constitution and places its flag upon a pedestal.

A country with principles, a country with laws.

Hello and welcome back to Life's Biggest Questions, I am Rebecca Felgate and today

we are asking What if America had no laws….

So…After the inevitable rush on Kinder surprise eggs, The Unites States may become a pretty

stressful place to live.

Guns are already legal in the US, however what little controls are in place would no

longer exist, meaning people could freely carry them in the street.

Mentally ill people can already buy guns in America, but without laws, children and fellons

could get hold of them too…although that isn't too hard in a Lawful America, anyway.

With more of what American's call bad guys arming themselves, the usual protocol is for

more so called good guys to arm themselves too.

In a lawless society the distinction between bad guys and good guys would be pretty blurry….it

would mainly just a lot of people with guns.…more people..with more guns….firing at each other

when the police aren't around to solve pretty disputes.

Without law in America, felons would be released from jail, much to the dismay of many peaceful

citizens.

To protect people's children, family and friend's from less desirable citizens, I

can only assume communities would form their own militias, which would keep life pretty

insular for Americans.

This may work in sparsely populated areas, but I can only imagine the cities would be

chaos.

Did I say the cities would be chaos?

They would also be really dirty….

How do you think garbage disposal, septic disposal and street cleaning works?

Governments, that's how.

Would there be government intervention in a lawless country?

No.

How do those governments afford to provide amenities that make our lives less like something

from the middles ages where people tossed their poo slop into the street?

Taxes.

That's how.

Think anyone will fancy paying tax if they don't have to by law?

LOL no, Merican's want to keep their money!

Perhaps the local militias set up by groups to provide protection will also allocate jobs

to make life liveable for people that enjoy electricity, running water and clean sewage?

That vigilante life is pretty glamorous.

In reality, a lawless America would widen the gap between the rich and the poor - the

rich who could afford to protect themselves against a lawless mob, who could afford to

privately pay people for luxuries like running water and safe food, would be able to do so,

but the poor would suffer.

What would the poor people do if they were unable to pay for the same luxuries?

Steal, pillage, loot…Enact more lawlessness…it is a self-perpetuating cycle really that would

encourage the evolution of gangs and turf wars.

The Unites States culture is based on consumerism, but consumerism requires laws to work.

Without laws, there would be no corporate responsibility, food may be unsafe to eat,

medicines may be poisions, electrical goods may be expensive but poorly made, people could

rip you off at the point of sale and there would be nothing you could do about it….unless…like….shoot

them….haaam I right…?

No…of course not.

The only way a lawless society could work is by trust, but it is hard to trust people

you don't know.

The only way a lawless America could work is to roll back the clock a few hundred years,

to live humble, pastoral lives on private properties, harvesting food and aiming to

be self sufficient – trading with your neighbours and banding together in times of trouble.

Unfortunately, that doesn't work with the American dream, where men and women strive

to be better than one another…that kind of society needs rules, needs laws to work.

I wholeheartedly believe that most people do not abide by laws because they're scared

to break them, but do so because they know keeping the peace is a more enjoyable way

to live.

A first world country with a population of over 320 million people needs laws…without

them, it would be pretty apocalyptic out there.

Any of you guys from MERICA?

What do you think the country would be like with no laws?
