ਸਿਖੀ ਵੀ, ਫੈਸ਼ਨ ਵੀ, ਰਾਮ ਵੀ, ਮਾਇਆ ਵੀ... Sikhi and Fashion - Duration: 12:30.

We see that even Gursikhs are getting stuck in worldly fashions

and it's not even that they are only stuck in fashion

but they think doing fashion is okay in Gurmat

They ask what is wrong in doing fashion

it depends on the fashion being done whether it is wrong or right

If it is fashionable to wear less clothes

or transparent clothes through which you can see the body of our sisters and daughters

Then this is for sure wrong for a Gursikh to do

Even if the fashion isn't flashy

even then to follow the world and give up the way of a Bhagat is a weakness

and is a sign of inferiority complex

When someone gives up their dress and takes on someone else's dress

then with this action he is saying that his dress is inferior

This is inferiority complex

Someone who follows fashion and does fashion

rarely focuses on Naam and Bani

What is right and wrong in fashion can only be understood by following Gursikhi

Doing fashion is a way to assimilate with worldly people

Here Guru Sahib has ordered that the way of a Gursikh is to be separate

But we must think what is this way separate from?

the answer is it is separate from the world

Why is the way of Bhagats separate than the world

The target of worldly people and Bhagats is separate

the target of Bhagats is meeting Vaheguru and doing Bhagti

whereas the worldly people don't even think about Vaheguru's obtainment

Their goals are worldly

such as accumulating wealth or obtaining a high position

That's why worldly people always remain ready to fit in with the elite

Under which pressure they cut their hair to fit in

They eat all sorts of garbage

they wear the type of clothes society likes

Bhagats try to please Vaheguru jee which is why they do Bhagti

They Jap Naam, do Keertan, and contemplate Gurbani

They keep Rehit of Khalsa

and they wear such clothes which suit a Khalsa Jan

Just with this Vichaar doing fashion is proven wrong

In Gurbani those who give up Bhagti for fashion are admonished many times

People did fashion during Guru Sahib's and Bhagat Sahiban's time as well

This Shabad gives the description of the majority of people who in Kaljug have forgotten Vaheguru jee

In this Shabad Bhagat Kabir jee

describes a rich person engaging in profligacy

and Bhagat jee tells how these rich people do fashion

sin, and eat garbage all day

During Bhagat jee's time, youth who were engaging in profligacy would tie a tiled Pagh

referring to which Bhagat Kabir jee says

That people who follow fashion also do everything crooked

meaning they sin

If someone tells these people who are stuck in Maya to Jap Naam

Or tells them to take Amrit

They say they will Jap Naam when they get old

now is our time to chill and enjoy

people were stuck in Maya then just like they are now'

and they remain devoid of Bhagti

Bhagat jee did Ucharan of this Shabad as and admonishment to them

The reason for doing Fashion is because everyone wants to fit into the elite of society

and to be part of the society you have to do things which please society

fashion is also one of these things

For example, if a new trend of suits becomes fashionable then all women want to make new suits

So they can fit into society

Same way men do new fashions of their pants, Paghs or even of cutting their hair

This is sheep like behavior

in reality, it is a sign of slavery

fashion is done to please people not for the self

and most do this out of compulsion

so this is the sign of slavery

the second reason for doing fashion is to look good in front of others

people think that if they can look good through clothing then it is easy

to become good through embodying good qualities is hard

by wearing fashionable clothing you get deluded into thinking you look good

Girls and Boys often use fashionable clothing to attract one another

which is another form of Kaam

Bhagat Kabir jee has admonished those who wear crooked Paghs

and this admonishment is applicable to today's fashionable people as well

Today the place of a crooked Pagh has been taken by cut hair

and the place of women's long beautiful hair has been taken by bangs

The intention of fashion is the same as it always was and this intention is not good

Girls and boys doing many types of fashion to attract one another

First girls would attract boys by wearing attractive clothing

But in grave Kaljug now by using the body

boys and girls try to attract one another

these relations which are established by showing the body are short lived

This is why relationships are created and broken without much warning

the honour of families has been thrown into dirt

and now parents have started to keep this expectation from their daughters

that they will themselves find their husband

how are young women supposed to know how to find the right husband

trying to find suitable suitors they fall prey to the lust of many men

and become miserable in this way

our youth now need to make the decision whether they want to please Guru Sahib or the world

If they want to please Guru Sahib then they should keep Gurmukhi Bana and engage in Naam and Bani

And if trying to please the world they want to do fashion

then they should remember that the world still won't be pleased

has anyone ever been able to please the whole world? Never

Half will be pleased and half for some reason will be upset

The way to get glory from the world is not by trying to please the world

If we please Guru jee then the world gets pleased as well

Meaning whosoever has Vaheguru in his Hirda has the whole world in his hand

meaning if Akal Purakh is in your Hirda the whole world sings your praises

we have no need to get stuck in worldly fashions

Gursikhs never get stuck in worldly fashion

people do fashion to please people

but a Gursikh doesn't care about pleasing people

the life of a Gursikh is devoted to pleasing Vaheguru jee

Vaheguru jee is unchanging so the Gurmat that He has established will never change

Guru jee has already chosen what the Gurmat clothing is

which is known as Gurmukhi Bana

to wear this Gurmukhi Bana is the fashion of Gursikhs

tying a nice Dastar with a Khanda Chakar is the fashion of a Gursikh

this fashion stays the same from small kids to old people

there is no differnece of age

and there is no difference for males and females

Gurmukhi Bana and Dastar is the dress of all Khalsa

and this is the eternal fashion of Gursikhs

Other than the Khalsa colours of Yellow, Blue, White, and Black

all other colours are to be avoided by Khalsa jan

Khalsa Jan knows that Vaheguru is pleased by Gurmat Gun

and not by worldly fashion and exhibition of the body

If you want to see the Avastha of a Gursikh then his dress is a big signifier

If the dress of a Gursikh is of worldly fashion and society

then you should understand that he has not attained any special Avastha yet

If you are going to stay engrossed in Maya then what is the point of becoming a Gursikh

There is a lot of beauty in Gursikhi but it is in simplicity

does a rose ever have to do makeup?

those faces which are radiant by Naam and Gurbani

have no need to put makeup on their cheeks

and if they even mistakingly do makeup

then the divine radiance goes away from their face

Gurmat simplicity is mandatory in a Gursikh's life

The speech of a Gurmukh is simple

His Dastar and dress are simple

and his walk is also simple

the meaning of Ruftar here is not only the way of walking

but is the way of your life

If a Gursikh makes mansions or accumulates wealth

then his walk of life is full of Chanchalness not simplicity

the life of a Gursikh is devoted to pleasing Vaheguru not anything else

How to Achieve Front-Row Status During Fashion Week - Duration: 3:47.

How to Achieve Front-Row Status During Fashion Week

For celebrities, fashion week isnt just about watching the spectacle of the runway.

Attracting the worlds biggest VIPs, it marks a unique opportunity to determine whos who in Hollywood.  In the mind of an up-and-coming celebrity, there is one goal: Score a front row seat next to a fashion heavy hitter like Anna Wintour, Tracee Ellis Ross, Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner, then get photographed in that moment.

You can find these industry veterans at the biggest shows (think: Tom Ford and Oscar de la Renta), wearing clothes custom made by the respective designer (because theyre one of the designers muses).

Despite the you cant sit with us-like vibe, its not impossible to join this elite fashion club. Why would a movie star want to be in the club? The red carpet.

Developing relationships with sought-after designers is extremely helpful when planning out an award-season wardrobe. A large majority of the dresses on the carpet come from the runway, and it isnt uncommon that multiple celebs fall in love with the same garment. .

If youre a B-list celebrity and you want to the front row, youll need some professional help from Hollywood. Managers, agents and stylists hold the key to celebrity success.

How do they do it? We found a pro to give us the inside scope. Cue Jack Ketsoyan of EMC Bowery, the agency that reps Lala Anthony, Paris Hiltonand Kristin Cavallari.

The veteran publicist knows how to make it in Hollywood, recently turning his journey from fact to fiction in the book Blind Item, co-written by Kevin Dickinson.

The story follows Ohio native and assistant publicist Nicola as she experiences celebrity as an insider, covering up scandal and elevating stars.

Its juicy.  Lucky for us, Jack is giving us the real-life breakdown of what it takes to make it to the front row.

#1 Before you can become front-row royalty, you must prove you have advanced taste. This is where your stylist comes in and matches your personal style to designer clothes.

They play a crucial role.  Style can make or break a celebrity, Jack told E! News.

His recommendation for finding the best match: You have to look at the other clients that the stylist is styling and see if they have the pull or the contacts to get the best designer clothes. #2 The street style photos are more for bloggers and influencers now, the veteran publicist said comparing influencers and celebrities.

While shots out-and-about dont elevate your celebrity, photos from the front row do play a part. #3 Before you can sit down and take pictures, you need to get on the invite list.

The best way to score a seat is to befriend the fashion PR girls that run all the lists, so they can get you the seat you need, he revealed.

Article continues below #4 Heres the thing: You want the best seat at the best show.

Any ol seat wont do.  You want to be at the show that draws the A-list girls, so that you can get into the fashion pages, he mentioned.

Sitting with It Girls or sitting next to big time editors, such as Anna Wintour, is necessary if you want to become well-known in the fashion world. #5 This is how you know youve made it: If you are wearing a designer that custom made an outfit for you specially for the show, then you have made the inner circle. #6 When your parents already have developed relationships with fashion houses, it makes everything else a bit easier.

Article continues below #7 Love it or hate it, your love life matters.

Jack revealed that the fastest way to the front row: Date an A-list movie star, the right director or a studio head. Although its a bit disheartening, theres certainly a lot of truth.

#8 If you stand out, it makes everything easier. Difference works to your advantage.

If your difference comes with a host of social issues (i.e. race, religion, sexual orientation), standing up for what you believe in may not elevate your celebrity, but it will separate you from the crowd.

The Met Museum NYC - In-Between Fashion Panel Discussion - Duration: 4:49.

I went to the Met Museum here in New York on Friday night there was a panel

discussion about fashion. The moderator was Andrew Bevan, who is a fashion writer

and producer. The people that were talking were Greg Foley, who's a Creative

Director of Visionaire Magazine, Phil Oh who is a Street Style Photographer for

Vogue.com, and Shelley Fox who is the Donna Karan Professor of Fashion at

Parsons School of Design at The New School. The overall conversation is

pretty like not serious which is good I like because fashion is just not serious and

Greg Foley said one thing that kind of summed up the whole panel discussion.

It was something like, "The word fashion and the word importance should never be in

the same sentence." He said that was some kind of a quote.

I googled it but haven't found any information on this being like a real

quote. But anyway, I thought it was fitting of the panel discussion.

It wasn't very serious and I think that's nice when people keep fashion not

serious. Some of the things they talked about. First they kind of all introduced

themselves and talked about themselves a little bit.

The main conversation through the panel discussion were things like you know

Well they talked a lot about street style because Phil Oh is a street style

photographer he's done that for years. Kind of talking about how people

nowadays especially with social media, there's a lot more what they call

'Peacocking' on the streets especially in places like New York City where people

get dressed up because they either want to be photographed or they know they are

going to be photographed and they dress up way more than they would have ten

years earlier because people on the street, they're going to take your photo

any second of any day that you had to be ready for. So they were kind of talking

about looking back ten years and what did people wear? They weren't as dressed

up. Their wardrobe wasn't as curated or as eye catching. They kind of talked

about the people are tired of other people peacocking because it just gets

tiring to watch people try so hard to get

pictures taken of themselves. They also talked about authenticity of personal

style. Kind of like, what is authenticity? What does that really mean and does it

even really matter? And how social media and the Internet in general have

really homogenized style because everyone now can go on Instagram and you

can be inspired by something on the other side of the world in two seconds.

The whole world the whole trends and everything are a lot less segregated

than they used to be because of the internet and because of social media.

I think that was something that people feel like is maybe not as

interesting. Like for example when you go travel now you can go from Shanghai to

New York and you can see people dressing similarly. You can find trends that are

happening at the same time in both places which, 10, 20 years ago you

probably wouldn't have seen. So everything's just a little bit more

blended now wherever you go in the world. Shelley said that she went to London.

Everything she saw she was like: Oh I could get that in New York I can get

this in New York that's in New York. She couldn't find anything that was unique

to London that she needed to purchase and bring back to New York She kind of

talked about how it's a little bit harder to be original. To find

those fashion pieces that are original because, well you have the big shops like

H&M and Zara and their stores are all over the world so everybody has access to

those stores. But there's also e-commerce so even tiny e-commerce stores, a lot of

them ship almost anywhere in the world as well so even teeny tiny niche brands

have access to many different countries and cultures. So it's just harder to find

those unique pieces that you can't find anywhere else because of e-commerce you

can find everything everywhere basically. And then they also were talking about

young designers having this obsession with having a personal brand. Basically

everybody wants to start their own brand which I get that's how I was when I was

in school. Before I went to school I wanted to have my own fashion brand as

well, so I get that. But they were kind of talking about how the young people need

to slow down and realize that working for someone else for a few

years maybe isn't a bad thing and then they kind of joked about starting an

anti-brand. Anyway, it was an interesting panel discussion nothing very serious,

which I like :)
