California dreaming - Duration: 0:41.

If Brown students didn't have student loan debts to deal with then I

definitely think that, number one, the class might be a little bit more diverse,

and number two they would get to make better decisions on what they wanted to

study in college. I'm from California and a lot of my friends decided to go to

state schools because it was definitely cheaper. And then once you get once you

get into school you can study more what you want to study, not trying to find

a concentration that is known to make a lot of money out of school.

First Camping Trip Experience | California life - Duration: 8:13.

So, we finally got to our camping site.

We slept in the sleeping bags in tents.

I haven't gone camping before, so it was very unusual.

It's especially nice wake up with the birds singing.

In the morning it was a little chilly, but it's warmer now.

Some people went to some place nearby and got oysters.

I am about to try oysters for the first time in my life.

Not the cooked ones, but the raw ones that you drink.

I'm curious what it tastes like.

We got up from there.

We walked on this trail

and now I'm standing here cause I'm too scared to go higher.

The trail ends here cause most people probably would turn around at this point.

So, I don't wanna go up.

I got to the top

We stumbled across a spiderweb field.

We are here!

California Coast Ukuleles Demo with Zac Carper | Fender - Duration: 4:13.

[MUSIC]

Hi, I'm Zac Carper.

And today, we're going to be questing on five new ukulele's from Fender.

That's right they're making ukuleles.

Let's check them out.

Let's first check out the two soprano sized ukuleles.

Right now, I'm playing the Seaside and along with the Venice ukulele.

These are soprano bodies, which means they are the smaller.

And when you're a little kid, this actually fits really well with you.

Because it's a lot easier to learn on a soprano ukulele than it is on a bigger

ukulele.

So, this is like the first size I learned on.

The Seaside along with the other ukuleles Fender has has a really cool new feature,

it's called the no-tie bridge and

that just means it's a lot easier to change a string.

Usually, you'd have to wrap a string around this thing and

tie a knot on the bridge side.

But now, you can just tie a knot.

Stick it in there, wire it in.

Boom, you're in already.

So the Seaside ukulele is actually made of real mahogany wood.

It's not that cheap plastic kind of stuff, so they're not toys.

Kind of the real deal.

The Venice ukulele has a Tele headstock.

It's kind of like your classic telecaster guitar.

We're hanging out with the Zuma ukulele right now and

this is a concert body ukulele.

It's in between a tenor and a soprano ukulele and

it's not to big, it's not to small.

It has a little bit more frets, so

you can kind of do a little big more shredy kind of stuff.

[MUSIC]

And it also has a telecaster head stock for that classic telecaster look.

So right now, we're playing the Rincon and this is a tenor body ukulele.

That means it's the biggest one.

It also is made out of Ovangkol wood with a solid top.

Basically, it means it's a bolder sound resonates better and

sounds pretty awesome.

[MUSIC]

Another cool thing about this ukulele is that it has Fishman pick up in it.

You can plug it into an amp PA playing live.

And what's cool about it, it has built-in tuner.

So, you don't even need to bring a tuner and

another really cool thing is has EQ on it.

That means you can kind of get the sound that you want.

If it's too bright, if it's too dark, you can kind of brighten it up or

darken it up which is very rare.

I have never seen that before.

So I dialed in a sound that I really like and

your going to hear it through a Fender acoustic amp.

[MUSIC]

The final ukulele that we are going to talk about is today is the Montecito.

This is a tenor body, which means it's the biggest one.

It's also constructed all from Koa wood, which is wood from Hawaii.

When I was a kid, everybody wanted to have the Koa wood ukuleles.

It's kind of like the nicest ones and the ones that were the best.

It feels really good to be able to have one now.

Koa wood.

It's sick.

It kind of gives it a more resonating mid range and

also a little sprinkle in the high end.

Feels really good.

[MUSIC]

And I really like that it has like, the low G string on that.

It also features a solid top,

which helps the ukulele resonate better which is typically a higher end feature.

There is a lot of attention to detail with this ukulele.

It's got abalone purfling and rosette,

which makes it stand out a little bit extra.

It also has a Fender style telecaster headstock.

It makes for a really nice looking ukulele.

[MUSIC]

Thanks for checking out these five new ukuleles with me.

Stay tuned here for new videos.

California governor rips Trump on North Korea and climate change - Duration: 6:34.

California's Democratic Governor Jerry Brown Governor Brown thanks so much for

joining us appreciate it okay thank you glad to be here so

yesterday you suggested president Trump's approach to North Korea was

quote stupid and dangerous and silly I know you don't care for the term rocket

man about Kim jong-un but to play devil's advocate is it not possible that

this tactic might work because everything else has failed with North

Korea from Clinton to Bush to Obama who tried at the diplomatic way yeah if you

believe in bluster and starting a bluster war with North Korea which is

what they do and they're pretty darn good at invective and threats one after

the other so I think bluster is not the pathway of diplomacy or even

statesmanship sure these are real serious issues no doubt about it I've

got to work closely with China and Russia and South Korea and Japan but

just noise and threats we're going to kill every man woman and she'll a child

in North Korea is that that doesn't advance the ball it just raises the the

temperature and the exchange of non-rational bluster back and forth I

don't think that's positive speaking of raising the temperature you're at the UN

General Assembly with other Democratic governors to participate in climate week

President Trump we're told aired his dissatisfaction with the Paris climate

agreement during a meeting with the French president saying that other

countries namely China received a better deal than the United States is it not

true that China let China set lower standards for itself than did the u.s.

look a China is doing more than the u.s. right now they're closing down coal

plants they're massively investing in solar and wind they're mastering battery

technology which will help America so this point that America got a bad deal

is fake it's more fake than any fake news assertion by by President Trump

this agreement is so fundamental I mean you watch all these hurricanes and the

devastation you can't take your mind off extreme weather events that's exactly

what climate change is going to bring about it may already bring bringing them

about so to omit that an existential threat climate change that's what it is

it's irresponsible it's blind it's almost I don't even know how he

gets away with that I have to call that fake news or whatever you call a

president speech of that order in reference to climate change this week

you compared Trump supporters to cave dwellers you said quote you should check

out the derivation of Trump I and troglodyte because they both refer to

people who dwell in deep dark caves are you really calling the nearly 63 million

Trump voters cave dwellers no and if you saw your own words there it was about

Trump ight and troglodyte it wasn't about the millions of voters who voted

for President Trump many of which are right in California know the people who

closely advise climate denial advise bluster wars advice stigmatizing and D

legitimizing our entire news industry as fake yeah that that is really a calling

cave drawers because cave dwellers didn't have TV like that but it is a

blindness it's a darkness that evades the truth it really generates that kind

of disinformation that undermines democracy and doesn't build dialogue

which we desperately need in this country and between nations around the

world I want to ask you about some legislation that you have on your desk

over the weekend California passed a bill making the golden state a sanctuary

state that's there's no word sanctuary this is a bill to have the Immigration

Service do their own work and not attempt to conscript state officials

into being part of the Immigration Service it does allow close cooperation

on data on drug busts and drug raids and also working with the Immigration

Service whether it's from our prisons or from the jails when you're dealing with

serious criminals so it protects Public Safety but it also protects hard-working

people who contributed a lot to California hardly hard-working people

who are undocumented immigrants yeah by the way they've got a couple million

working our agricultural industry our hospitality industry our construction

industry they're being deep trouble without those same people and

that's why we need immigration reform not blessed or not rhetoric and not this

kind of xenophobia that we see too much of coming out of Washington do you think

that complying with federal immigration laws are it's optional because that that

would be the counter-argument no no and we comply with immigration laws where

we're not soldiers of Donald Trump or the federal Immigration Service we have

our own laws to arrest criminals to give them a jury trial and then to provide

appropriate punishment that's our job now the immigration people can come out

of our jails they can interview people they can pick up people that they think

are appropriate but don't tell California to do your work in fact there

are many cases of people who the Immigration Service said they wanted and

they don't even show up to come to get them so this is a well balanced bill the

police chief of Los Angeles supported there's a number of law enforcement

officials who said it was a much better piece of legislation than what was

originally introduced and which got the name sanctuary city or sanctuary state

another piece of legislation passed in the California State Legislature Friday

would require presidential candidates to release their five most recent years of

tax returns in order to be able to get on the California ballot president Trump

has of course infamously refused to release his returns he says he's under

audit you also have not released your tax returns do you plan to sign actually

I did release them in my earlier campaign so this time around my

opponents wouldn't do it so I didn't either

I'm not going to tell you what I'll do in the bill I want to read it I want to

look at the legality and in the face of federal law so we'll take a look at it I

generally don't opine on the six hundred bills that the legislature leaves on my

desk I take a look at each one I'll give this a fair read and you'll hear my

decision very soon all right California Governor Jerry

Brown thanks so much really appreciate

individual mandate.

States can reimpose it.

We've come upon an idea that is

uniquely Republican but over

time has proved to work in other

areas like welfare reform.

So I would hate to be the

Democrat that voted against more

money for my state and more

power and keep the status quo.

So if you're a Democrat, let's

say in Missouri.

You're gonna get far more money

under this proposal than

Obamacare and your state would

have more control over the

money.

To reject that money and that

control means you believe that

somebody in Washington cares

more about people in Missouri

than people in Missouri.

You believe it's okay to help

California, New York, Maryland,

Massachusetts more than

Missouri.

That's just what a Democrat

would have to face if they voted

no.

If you're a Republican and you

vote against federalism, you got

to explain to people back home

why Washington knows better and

almost every state except the

four I have described do very

well under this new approach to

taking the money out of

Washington.

So I think the idea is more

powerful.

I think the substance is much

more fair.

And at the end of the day, I

really believe we're gonna get

50 Republican votes.

I make a prediction.

There are going to be a lot of

Democrats struggling with a no

vote.

At least eight of them, eight of

them, their states do far better

than Obamacare in terms of

funding and they have more

California Can Lead the Way - Duration: 3:08.

Imagine – an America that loses more jobs

than the Great Depression and the Great Recession

combined. It is a frightening thought –

nearly half of America's jobs swept away.

But that is EXACTLY what leading experts say is

happening as robots, automation and algorithms

take away jobs now performed by humans.

The jobs of all drivers – gone. The jobs of

clerks and cashiers – mostly gone.

Even the jobs of stockbrokers, accountants and lawyers

could be replaced by sophisticated algorithms.

We can't stop the robot revolution. But we can prepare for it.

We can make sure that we are training Californians

for the jobs of the future – and investing in creating

new and meaningful high wage employment.

I'm San Francisco Supervisor Jane Kim.

San Francisco and the Bay Area are at the epicenter

of this dramatic shaking of our state's economy...

Of our world's economy.

Algorithms and automation are sweeping away both

the "first jobs" that give people employment skills

and the high-wage jobs that build the

middle class.

That's why I am launching a statewide effort to

make sure we are ready for this challenge

to build support for a common-sense proposal to

fund re-training and education for workers displaced

by automation, and to help create new, meaningful

jobs.

This could raise wages in important jobs

like childcare or health care - so they become

middle-class jobs. It has been called a robot tax.

But it really isn't a new tax at all –

it would be preserving the existing payroll taxes

employers pay on people, if they replace those

people with robots, automation or algorithms.

It wasn't my idea actually – it was first proposed

by Microsoft founder Bill Gates.

But, it's a great idea.

Employers that lay off employees as a result of

automation should contribute their fair share

toward retraining displaced workers

and grow the economy for everyone,

not just for the few.

Automation doesn't need to be a bad thing –

because replacing mundane tasks with meaningful

work is actually a good thing.

Automation could save lives, fight climate change

and grow our economy.

But that's not what's going to happen if we

don't act.

What is happening now is that automation is

replacing humans –

and the people who own the machines and write

the algorithms

are getting richer and richer while everyone else

is getting poorer.

California is blessed with the most powerful

research and development capabilities the world

has ever seen. It's only fair that those who reap

the rewards of technological development, heavily

subsidized by generations of taxpayers, contribute

their share to addressing some of the downsides

of progress.

I believe we have the chance to meet this challenge

and create the sorts of opportunities that can bring

more families

into the middle class.

California has led the way before

and we can do it again.

I'm launching this initiative because if we don't

get ready now, we won't catch up later.

Let's create a future where automation makes our society

better –

and more equal.

for everyone.

Thanks so much – and please remember to find out
