Catalina Classic 2017 : A Family Journey - Duration: 7:43.

I really hope i'll do a good race

reach my goals

and be at the front of the leaderboard.

What scares me is : get cold,

make me follow by a shark

being forced to stop for any physical reason

There's many things that scare me before departure

but i'm sure that during the race i'll be strong enough mentally to keep going.

The race is tomorrow so pression is pumping when you see all the paddlers arriving on the island, training...

there's many people and everybody is certainly well prepared, so it will be hard.

We really trained hard this year, we followed a Mick Di Betta's training schedule...

a paddleboard legend

We trained really hard, we really worked

I hope it will pay off

At least i want to be in the TOP 10 of my division ("Stock")...

there i'd be about happy

but to be fully satisfied i want to reach the TOP 6, that's what i really want !

"The stress goes up ?"

"Damn yes !!!"

"Final preparation and then... having a shower."

"We freak out ! That's tomorrow, tomorrow morning."

"Wake up 4 a.m"

"Briefing 5 a.m"

"Then 6 a.m : START. Fxxxxg finally, tired of waiting !"

Breakfast, here it is.

Start is in 2 hours.

We had such an horrible night,

an unbelievable crappy night, we did shake so hard.

But well ! That's not important, it's going to do.

So, Catalina Classic 2017 was 3 days ago,

we took few days to recover and now we'll try to make result.

It was really "brutal", that's the most difficult race i have ever paddled.

Physically it was terrible but the worst was mentally, it was so slow,

we had an unbelievable current in the face from the beginning to the end.

We had side wind and side bumps, choppy waters, it was horrible !!!

So, little come back on the "Catalina", we prepared this race during several months, it was the goal of the year.

I was thinking to this race every mornings when i wake up and on the way to training.

Start by night with more than 100 paddlers on the beach, it was really impressive.

Start is on, everybody's paddling hard, we are surrounded by escorts boats.

I really think it's the best moment of the all race, that's what remains in my head

i still had no cold !!!

I tell myself i didn't paddle that bad. Bad start, I pay !

During the race i didn't know where i was on the leaderboard,

i was suffering and i thought i missed my race, it was so slow !!!

After 1 hour i started to get cold, i was hoping for sun. So it was 7 a.m, in general sun comes up later.

After 2 hours i was really cold, sun still wasn't there however the wind rose, up wind, not fair !

I was colder and colder, my jaw was clutching, i had cramps due to cold, i was paralysed.

Tough race, but i'm still happy to finish in the pack with all the best,

that's a beautiful satisfaction, especially after all the work we've done this year.

Till the time i started to puke and i told myself it's more worthwhile to resist,

i paddle for 4 hours and still no sun, it won't get better so i decided to get back on the boat.

I was so disappointed at this time,

inconsolable !!!

Well, going to need to remotivate but we'll probably be back next year to reach better.

We'll see back home how it goes but i want to be back on the starting line and finish this race.

I don't want to stay on it !!!

The Best Chinese Hot and Sour Soup ~ Classic Chinese Restaurant Hot Sour Soup Recipe - Duration: 4:58.

If you want to know how to make the BEST Chinese hot and sour soup, stay tuned.

I'm Tess and today I'll be making this delicious Chinese hot and sour soup that

is better than takeout . (intro music)

I'm starting by soaking some mushrooms. This is black

fungus mushrooms or cloud ear mushrooms. They will be dried and you either see

them whole or sliced. I'm rehydrating by pouring over some warm water and letting

them soak for about 15 to 30 minutes and then I will drain and rinse.

The other mushroom found in Chinese hot and sour soup are shitake mushrooms. These are

dried and I will be doing the same by soaking them in warm water. Afterwards, I

will cut them in slices. I usually cut out the stems as they tend to remain firm.

These mushrooms add a unique and classic taste to the hot and sour soup.

You can find these mushrooms at your local Asian market or I will leave a

link below where you can purchase them online. Now I'm preparing the meat.

I'm using chicken but you can also use pork. I have my chicken cut into thin slices

and I'm marinating in some light soy sauce, shao xiang wine or you can use

rice vinegar, a little white pepper and some corn starch. Giving that a good mix

and setting to the side.

In my saucepan I'm adding in the chicken broth and turning my heat up to high.

This is homemade chicken broth but if you're using a boxed or can broth

remember to choose a low-sodium. I prepped all my ingredients and they are

in sliced or julienne pieces. I'm adding in some minced ginger, the mushrooms,

bamboo shoots, carrots and this is optional this is a sliced seeded red

chili pepper for a little more heat and color. Stirring, bringing up to a boil...

reducing to a simmer and cooking for five to eight minutes.

In goes my chicken and giving that a stir. Now I'm adding in some light soy

sauce and some black vinegar. This is another ingredient that gives this

Chinese hot and sour soup a distinct flavor. I'm adding in some chili paste

for some heat and just a little dark soy sauce that will give the soup its color.

Adding in some white pepper that will also add some heat. Giving that a stir

and look at that beautiful rich color! Turning my heat back up to bring up to a

boil and cooking for another three to four minutes.

We're almost done! To give this Chinese hot and sour soup a thicker consistency,

I'm adding in some cornstarch slurry. I have three tablespoons of cornstarch

mixed with some water and I'm adding a little at a time. As the soup comes back

up to a boil you will see the soup thicken. Now I'm adding in two beaten

eggs and just drizzling over the top. I'm not going to stir for at least five to

ten seconds then give it a gentle stir and the eggs will form this classic strands.

One last ingredient and that is the tofu. This is an extra firm tofu and I'm just

going to stir and cook for one more minute to heat through and we are done.

The Chinese hot and sour soup smells amazing! If you love hot and sour soup as

much as I do you will really enjoy this recipe. It tastes just like the classic

Chinese restaurant hot and sour soup... even better! The leftover soup heats up

well and it tastes great for lunch the next day. Garnishing with some chopped

green onions. I hope you give this Chinese hot and sour soup a try and enjoy.

2015 Sportsmobile Ford E-Series Classic - Duration: 11:26.

2015 Sportsmobile Ford E-Series Classic

It's true: Ford no longer builds the full-body E-Series van, but they do continue to accommodate the RV industry by producing the E-350 cutaway chassis/cab. This is the platform of choice among many manufacturers of Class C motorhome.

For many converters who have relied on the Econoline and E-Series to build metal-body camper vans (rather than full-on motorhomes), this would be viewed as hitting a brick wall.

However at Sportsmobile in Fresno, California, Ford's decision got the company's creative juices flowing, allowing Sportsmobile to take their signature product, the Sportsmobile Ford E-Series Classic, to the next level.

The engineering and design changes necessitated by the E-350 cutaway chassis cab has proven to be an opportunity in disguise.

It has allowed Sportsmobile to augment its time-tested four-wheel-drive, fully self-contained, high-clearance, backcountry camper van by enhancing the functionality, livability, and added off-road prowess of the Classic.

The exterior looks the same unless you break out the magnifying glass, while continuing the company's long tradition on and off-road competence and performance. The 2015 Sportsmobile Classic represents a quantum step forward.

With the opportunity to create the cabin structure aft of the cab, they begin with giant molds that are sprayed first with a gel coat, followed by a layering of fiberglass.

Creating a bespoke cabin structure has reduced the gross weight of the unit by about 600 pounds. Also, the Ford E-Series cutaway chassis comes with a higher GVWR than the van that was discontinued in 2014.

This yields an additional 650 pounds of cargo carrying capability. The lighter body structure and higher GVWR of the van means that 1,250 additional pounds of cargo can be hauled into the backcountry.

With the exterior roof rack system, 1,000 pounds of cargo can be carried on top with the camper pop-top down. When the camper pop-top is lifted and utilized as indoor sleeping quarters, 150 pounds of cargo can be carried on the roof.

With a wheelbase of 138 inches, the dry weight is 8,000 pounds and the GVWR tips in at 10,050 pounds, with the GCWR of 20,050 pounds.

Imagine a fully maxed out with more than a ton of cargo onboard—primitive exploring and backcountry trail camping for days on end is easily doable.

On top of this, the E-Series Classic can tow another 10,000 pounds of tailored toys or gear. This is facilitated by the Ford 6.8L V-10 that produces 305 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque, mated to a five-speed automatic transmission.

Also important to note from them fabricating the cabin they have gained an additional 4 inches of interior cabin width, which means new sleeping configurations, including fullsize beds that aren't restricted to a fore and aft layout.

Sportsmobile offers 44 standard floor plans, and with that extra interior width, the possibilities are limited only by the customer's imagination.

By designing the fiberglass shell that creates the cabin, you (almost) have to use a magnifying glass to see the added inch on each exterior side aft of the cockpit doors.

Functionally, this doesn't compromise the capability this unit possesses to navigate through slot canyons in places like Moab and Canyonlands. To the end-user, the new exterior width will be transparent, but the livability and functionality this yields is immediately apparent.

The Penthouse Roof Top raises 30 inches (as it always has) to create a spacious, comfortable sleeping area above, and with the top raised, those inside can stand fully upright.

The cabin interior includes a full galley with cooktop, galley sink, 2.7-cubic-foot refrigerator, microwave, and cabinets, and the bathroom style of your choice.

Sportsmobile has added a 12V motor that at the touch of a button powers the roof to its fully extended position to create a sleeping area above and cavernous living quarters below.

Latches located at each interior corner of the top are released prior touching the button to raise the roof. They are re-latched to make the coach road ready.

Two adults can comfortably sleep down below in the cabin area while the 75x44-inch bed in the pop-top nicely accommodates two adults with its high-density foam mattress. Low-wattage LED lighting and 12V ports are incorporated in the pop-top area.

Zipper panels can be opened or closed for air flow. There is total seating for five adults.

The Sportsmobile Classic with four-wheel drive comes equipped with the Ford five-speed TorqShift automatic transmission that supports a Sportsmobile-engineered-and-designed four-wheel-drive system. This includes a gear-driven Atlas II two-speed transfer case and Dynatrac Pro Roc 60 front axle.

Custom-fit leaf springs support the weight of the vehicle and camper conversion. Also included are a steering stabilizer and shock absorbers designed and fabricated by Fox Shox, specifically engineered for this vehicle.

The Sportsmobile four-wheel-drive system features a 3-year, 36,000-mile factory warranty. The custom front and rear bumpers allow the addition of more storage and a 12,000-pound winch.

An onboard air compressor can help get the tires aired back up in no time if they have been deflated for better handling on sand and washboard roads.

Depth of equity lies below the clean, eye-appealing exterior lines and custom paint. The Ford factory fuel tank holds 40 gallons.

For extended adventures, a rear exterior mount can be added to the bumper to accommodate four 5-gallon jerry cans of fuel. The fresh water tanks range in size from 10 gallons to 40 gallons (it's the customers call).

The grey water holding tank's capacity is 12.5 gallons, and the waste tank depends upon the type of toilet system chosen, which can includes the Thetford porta-potty with electric flush with a 6.5 gallon holding tank, or a permanent toilet where the waste tank capacity is up to 20 gallons.

The HVAC has at its centerpiece a 13K BTU Therma propane-fueled forced-air furnace that features an integrated water heater. This unit also supports 30-amp shore power service in the event there are electrical hookups in camp.

The house batteries consist of two 200-amphour AGM batteries, and a 2,000-watt inverter is included to power the 110V receptacles and microwave. Two 100-watt solar panels can be added to augment the power supply to the house batteries.

The base MSRP of the Sportsmobile Ford E-Series Classic begins at $125,000. Totally optioned out, the suggested retail price at the Fresno factory showroom is about $150,000. Specifications. 2015.
