Auto news on Youtube Sep 24 2018

Hi there.

I am John Bond from Riverwinds Consulting and this is Publishing Defined.

Today I am going to talk about the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines or WCAG.

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines is one of a series of web accessibility guidelines

published by the Web Accessibility Initiative of the World Wide Web Consortium (or W3C),

the international standards organization for the web.

A reminder, accessibility is an approach to publishing and design that makes content available

in alternative formats.

The aim of accessible publishing is to make reading easier for those users who have difficulties

or disabilities including the blind or visually impaired and people with learning disabilities.

WCAG is a set of guidelines that specify how to make content accessible, for people with

disabilities—which also benefits others such as mobile users.

The first web accessibility guideline was compiled 1995 shortly after the web, as we

know it now, was taking shape.

WCAG 1.0 was published in the late 90s.

WCAG 2.0 was published as a W3C Recommendation in December 2008.

Any content provider, or website for that matter, should provide accessibility to disabled

users.

Not only are there ethical and commercial reasons, but in many cases, there are legal

or compliance guidelines that require it.

WCAG, like accessibility in general and epub3 and HTML5 specifically, are standards all

publishers and content creators should be embracing.

It expands an organization's readership and market and it's the right thing to do.

I have authored a full report called, "Accessibility for Publishers: Practical Tips that Demonstrate

it is well within reach."

Grieving mother releases deathbed photo of bodyguard son who was stabbed - Duration: 12:10.

Agrieving mother has released a photo of her celebrity bodyguard son on his deathbed after he was knifed by thugs with a machete

Ricky Hayden, who guarded Peter Crouch and Abbey Clancy's wedding, was stabbed in the leg on his doorstep in Romford, Essex when he tried to stop his brother's scooter from being stolen

The 27-year-old was airlifted to hospital where doctors could not save his life despite amputating his leg

Two years later, his mother Suzanne Hedges, 51, has shared a moving picture of his final moments to raise awareness of knife crime

Mrs Hedges, a former teaching assistant, said: 'Two years later it's still affecting us just as badly as the day it happened

I relive the night it happened constantly.'My son was taken away from me, he had no choice in that and neither did I - and that's still what I find most hard to deal with

' Mr Hayden's killer, Tommy Roome, from Romford, Essex was last year cleared of murder but found guilty of manslaughter and jailed for 14 years

Mrs Hedges has now recalled the heart-breaking moment she arrived at hospital to find her son on his deathbed

She said: 'When I went to hold his hand I noticed he had slices all over his hands and the tip of his fingers and some toes on his remaining leg were missing

'They were clearly defensive wounds and it broke my heart to think of what he went through trying to save himself from that knife

Mrs Hedges is now campaigning to end knife crime and is asking shops to sell knives more responsibly

'People say that if kids want to carry knives they'll get their hands on them at home or any way possible, but I think it's important to make it as hard as possible for them to buy them,' she said

'We've been working with companies like Wilko, Poundland, Sainsbury's and trying to educate them about safer ways they can stock these products

'We've made progress, but I sometimes do worry about how slow it is.'Yes, it's a long battle but if I stop one youth from being murdered I'll be happy because that family won't have to go through what we have

'Sometimes I do have low moments when I think that the problem is getting worse rather than better

'The police only have so much power.Even with 1,000 more police on the streets we have to help as parents and be responsible

' On the day of the attack, September 13, 2016, Mr Hayden had gone to investigate when he spotted two youths eyeing up his little brother Perry's scooter outside their house

He rushed outside in just his boxer shorts, and was joined by Perry, 21, and their father, Paul, 55, as he confronted the two boys

Roome then pulled out a machete during the clash, stabbing bare-footed Mr Hayden in the thigh

Ms Hedges was staying with her mother, Irene Hedges, 75, near the family home when she received a call at 1

30am, roughly seven minutes after her son was stabbed. She said: 'By the time we got there Mr Hayden had already been airlifted to hospital

'I wasn't allowed to go into our house, but as I got close I could and I just saw this huge pool of blood running down the road from our drive way

'I've not been back there since, even though there is a lovely memorial bench that his friends donated, I just can't bear seeing the place, where in my eyes, he lost his life

' Ms Hedges and her mother rushed to be by Mr Hayden's side at The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel

On arrival she was asked for permission to amputate his leg which was the only way doctors could try and save his life

She said: 'The wound was so deep, it was 16cm, caused by a huge, machete-like knife

'Of course I said 'yes' I just wanted him alive but I kept thinking 'what the hell is he going to do with just one leg?' 'He was such an active guy, he had two jobs

My son was a fit and healthy young man.'At no point did I ever think that I'd walk out of there without him

'It never occurred to me that he might die, it simply didn't cross my mind.'After the operation Ricky was still critical and we couldn't see him, the wait was pure torture

'When we were finally allowed to it was amazing, he looked like my son, he had no visual marks on his face

'He looked like Ricky, just asleep. But I never got to see my boy consciousness again

' After a matter of hours Ms Hedges was told to gather family as there was nothing more they could do

She watched Mr Hayden fight for life for four minutes and 11 seconds after the life support machine was switched off

Despite previously wanting to keep Mr Hayden's final moments private, Ms Hedges has now decided to share one last image from his death bed

Ms Hedges said: 'It makes your whole world change, losing a child, no matter what age they are

'I didn't ask for this situation I was just thrust into this nightmare.'I'm now on anti-depressants, sleeping pills and I've had to give up my job, home and totally lost all confidence in myself

'Recently we had to put down Ricky's dog Roxy, she was there that night and was totally traumatised by it all, she was never the same again

'Losing her too it was like another stab in the heart.'The anger inside kicked in again, not only have you killed my son but you've ruined all our lives, even the dog's

'I have to admit that as a family we are very bitter.'We're all broken and we can't help but be angry

' Mr Hayden's attackers were arrested and tried at the Old Bailey, London. While one of the boys was found not guilty, Tommy Roome, then 20, was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 14 years in prison

But Ms Hedges feels the outcome and sentence are 'grossly unfair' considering the seriousness of the crime

One of the ways that Ms Hedges and her family have helped to deal with the grief is by throwing themselves into campaigning and raising awareness about knife crime

As well as holding demonstrations and attending and speaking at residents and community meetings, they have been lobbying UK shops that stock knives to do so more responsibly

Ms Hedges is currently planning to go into schools to speak about her experiences in order to highlight to young people just how devastating knife crime can be

'Day after day the reality of our situation as a family is very bleak now Ricky's gone,' she said

'Aside from the sleeping pills and anti-depressants I take I've even got phobia of my own phone from replaying the night I got that call

'I can hear the ring tone going round in my head when I lie in bed at night.'Two years later it's still affecting us just as badly as the day it happened

'Nothing will ever bring my son back, but if I can stop one mother having to endure the heartbreak I have then I'll do everything in my power- in my darling Ricky's memory

Mateusz Gola, What is addiction? - Duration: 4:20.

Addiction is a very persistent behavior which leads to the loss of control over

one's life. The biggest problem is that it's also a very rigid strategy to

cope with stress, with anxiety, with difficult emotions. So people who are

addicted don't develop other more adaptive strategies to cope with their

life problems, different issues and they stick to this very one problematic

behavior which overwhelms all other significant life areas, destroys their

families, destroys their significant relations, friendships, professional life,

education, and passions. Every year there is about 11 percent of population

who suffer from different addictions: substance addictions, behavioral

addictions like gambling, so we can say that one of every ten people has a

problem with substances. And the big problem we are struggling with is

efficiency of addiction treatments right now. Because with the current methods of

treatments, like psychotherapy, only about 50% of people are able to finish the

treatment and among those who complete the treatment majority relapse. So in

case of heroin or other opioids for example the relapse rate within the next

two years is about 80%, so if there is 10 people who completed the addiction

treatment eight of them will relapse (come back to addictions) and 20 percent

of them will die during the next year after completing the treatment. So this

is very serious issue. In case of alcohol it is about 65 to 70 percent. Why is

it like that we can say okay it's like that because addiction is so persistent

and so severe and we just can not do anything else or maybe we just don't

understand what addiction is. And if we would understand it better then maybe we

would be able to provide a better treatment, more effective, so what we are

trying to do is to look into the brain using all the new technologies and

figure out how the addiction works. We already know that addiction is not a

one problem. There may be a few different brain circuits involved in addiction

development and we need to be able to recognize which circuits are problematic

are causing those problematic behaviors in the particular cases and then if we

are able to identify that we can provide a very personalized targeted treatment.

Right now we are about launching a new studies where we would like to test

new treatment methods like transcranial magnetic stimulation, so with a magnetic

field we can try to alter the brain functions in some brain areas and for

example help to quit the substance of abuse, but also we are using new

technologies like smartwatches to support the maintenance of abstinence.

If someone already completed the treatment it's important to be able to

maintain sober and one of the way to do that is to recognize the everyday

patterns of behavior and for example if those patters are changing in some

alerting way then we can warn the person that something wrong is going on and

help to for example change the behavior before the relapse happens. So

those are the common, the most modern ways to to study addictions right

now.

Duchess Meghan's 'something blue' from her wedding day was the sweetest tribute to Prince Harry - Duration: 3:22.

There were plenty of moments during Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry's royal wedding that had us swooning, smiling and even shedding a happy tear or two

But it's Meghan's newly revealed 'something blue' from the big day which takes the cake as the sweetest thing of all

In some beautiful footage from upcoming ITV documentary Queen of the World, Meghan is seen being reunited with her wedding dress, and it's clear the encounter brings back a flood of memories for the new royal family member

Speaking to the production team, Meghan is shown touching the dress, saying: "It's amazing isn't it

The work that they did here is just so beautiful."She then reveals something that would make a even heart of stone melt - her something blue was a small piece of blue fabric from a dress she wore on her first date with Harry, which was stitched carefully inside the gown

If that's not the sweetest thing we've heard about the doting new royal couple, we don't know what is

Watch the full clip below:In another new clip from the documentary, Duchess Meghan speaks about how she incorporated elements of the Commonwealth into her wedding gown, which was a surprise to Prince Harry and his family

"It was important for me especially now being a part of the royal family to have all 53 of the Commonwealth countries incorporated," Meghan said

"And I knew that it would be a fun surprise as well for my now husband, who didn't know

"The Duchess had the Commonwealth emblem sewn into her veil for the big day, according to Hello!

Flora from all the Commonwealth countries also featured along the veil. Meghan said Harry was "really over the moon to find out that I would make this choice for our day together

" Could this couple be any cuter!?Watch the full clip below:The 37-year-old also mentions how her royal in-laws reacted to the tribute to the Commonwealth

"I think the other members of the family had a similar reaction, and just appreciation for the fact that we understand how important this is for us and the role that we play, and the work that we're going to continue to do within the Commonwealth countries," she said

Meghan has stepped into her royal duties in full force of late. Last week, she helped launch a new charity cookbook at Kensington Palace with women who had been affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy

The cookbook, Together, was referenced as a "labour of love" for the Duchess, and features over 50 recipes developed by the women from the community

Speaking at the event without notes, Meghan shared a poignant message: "When you get to know the story of the recipe you get to know the person behind it, and that's what we're talking about in terms of coming together to really engage and talk, and to be able to celebrate what connects us rather than what divides us

"Meghan's ability to speak on important topics and her proven dedication to charity work and her duties within the royal family is a sure sign of good things to come

We can't wait to see what's next for the Duchess of Sussex.

Is Connie Britton On 911? What Happens to Buck & Abby? | Heavy.com - Duration: 4:41.

Is Connie Britton On 911? What Happens to Buck & Abby? | Heavy.com

Connie Britton played the role of Abby on season 1 of 9-1-1.

Abby was caring for her ailing mother, while also working as a 911 operator.

She met a younger man named Buck, who works as a firefighter, and the two communicated through work, until they finally met.

Buck, who was a womanizer, ended up changing his player ways, as he fell for Abby.

Meanwhile, Abby fell for him as well.

Towards the end of the season, Abby's mother died and Buck was there for her as she dealt with her grief.

But, Abby makes the decision to leave town and travel to Ireland to fulfill some of her mother's life goals.

Buck insists that he will wait for her, but it seems pretty clear that the two are breaking up.

This season starts off with Buck still waiting for his true love, Abby, but it sounds like he won't hold out forever.

And, though actress Connie Britton left the show, she may not be gone for good.

Executive producer Tim Minear told The Wrap that, "We went out on a season where Abby left with a promise to return — or an intention to return — and Buck waiting for her.

So the first handful of episodes of Season 2 are about, you know, Buck waiting.

And what that's like for a guy like him … Buck's waiting is the next part of the story.".

He then added that, "You know, Connie was there for the first year and she helped us get on our feet and off the ground and I would have her back in a second for as much as she'd wanna come back for.

But that's not happening yet." The key word here is "yet", which means there is always the possibility that Britton could come back, especially since the season opens up with character Buck still living in Abby's apartment, as reported by Hidden Remote.

Britton only had a one year contract with the show and she currently has a couple of projects going on.

She is briefly reprising her character on American Horror Story: Apocalypse.

In addition, she is set to star on the new show Dirty John.

Over the summer, Fox co-chairman Gary Newman commented on Britton's leaving the show, telling TV Line, "We love Connie Britton, [but] it was always envisioned to be a one-year role.

So it wasn't a surprise [that she left].

If Connie expressed interest and had time in the future, I know [exec producer] Ryan [Murphy] would be thrilled to bring her back to the show.".

Well, Newman seems to know what he was talking about, as Murphy also spoke with TV Line and said he's already been working on guest appearances for Britton on the show.

Murphy revealed, "We're in the process of renegotiating her deal so she can come in and do a couple of episodes to keep her character alive.

She really loves the cast and crew and she's very hopeful that that can happen.".

Cross your fingers for some appearances by Britton on this season of 9-1-1.

What is stocktaking? - Duration: 2:18.

Today I'm going to talk about what stock taking is. Stocktaking is all about

the numbers in your business, if you're used to having your accounts done once

a year by your accountant, you probably get your results back for the accountant

maybe six months after you year-end. That means if you've had a problem at day one,

you're nearly 18 months into your business life before that's

discovered, whereas if you have a regular stock taking done you get a snapshot of

your business as it happens. So we're not saying don't have your accountant,

they're very important, but the numbers that we provide on an ongoing basis will

give you the snapshot so you can control your business, see what's going on and

make it more profitable. People think that stock taking is just about counting

bottles or maybe doing stock take on a Monday morning when you're doing your beer

order. What we do is much more, we take the stock movements, compare that

with your income, compare that with your wastage,

and produce your gross profit figure. We tell you whether the cash you've taken

equals the stock you've used, if it hasn't we can, depending on your till

system, if you've got an epoch stock till system we can compare those numbers on

our stock system with the till system and identify where the shortages

might be. The other thing we can do is because we're putting in your

deliveries from your invoices, we can also spot when your prices have increased, you

might not have noticed, you might have done a deal with your rep, it's taking

new products on board, you've done a deal with him but he has failed or that the

message hasn't got through to the accounts team or the sales team to

apply that discount to your goods. We've had that recently with a client

where we discovered he'd taken a new product on, done the deal, I looked at

the invoice and said to him you're only making 40% GP.

He said well what do you mean, and we looked at it and he was getting charged the wholesale

price, rather than the heavily discounted price he should have been. So it's things like that,

that would make a big difference to your bottom line

by having regular stock takes done.
