Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf warned Saturday night that the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement could be conducting an operation in the Bay Area in the next day or so.
Federal officials have said in the past that California and the Bay Area could be an enforcement target, due in part to the sanctuary policies
adopted by many local cities, which have pledged not to cooperate with immigration authorities in many of their actions.
Schaaf said in a news release her office put out shortly before 8 p.m. that she learned "from multiple credible sources," that the federal operation was planned, "starting as soon as within the next 24 hours."
Few details about any raids were included in the release and Schaaf said she didn't know where they might take place.
The purpose of the announcement, she said, was not to panic residents who could be in danger of being detained and deported, but to warn and protect them.
And this is the announcement the mayor put out:
"Earlier today, I learned from multiple credible sources that the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is preparing to conduct an operation
in the Bay Area, including Oakland, starting as soon as within the next 24 hours. As Mayor of Oakland, I am sharing this information publicly not to panic our residents but to protect them.
"My priority is for the well-being and safety of all residents — particularly our most vulnerable — and I know that Oakland is safer when we share information, encourage community awareness, and care for our neighbors.
"In Oakland, OUSD public schools have strict protocols in place to protect our students and families. Oakland police officers are prohibited from participating in ICE activities.
"Additionally, California state law prohibits business owners from assisting ICE agents in immigration enforcement and bars federal agents from accessing employee-only areas.
"I have reached out to local leaders and partners in our immigrant communities to share this information. Our shared message is clear: We want residents to prepare, not panic.
We understand ICE has used activity rumors in the past as a tactic to create fear; our intent is for our community to go about their daily lives without fear, but resiliency and awareness.
"I am not aware of any further details of the ICE operation, such as precise locations.
I know that Oakland is a city of law-abiding immigrants and families who deserve to live free from the constant threat of arrest and deportation.
"I believe it is my duty and moral obligation as Mayor to give those families fair warning when that threat appears imminent."

BREAKING: President Trump Just Hit California Governor Jerry Brown With Massive Blow — This
Is It!
When Democrats in California passed a law earlier this month declaring their state to
be a "sanctuary state," they assumed this meant that Donald Trump's Immigrations and
Customs Enforcement officials would be powerless to deport illegal aliens there.
Unfortunately for these liberal California nitwits, however, they just learned that they
were dead wrong.
San Francisco Gate reported that ICE officials have begun preparing for a massive sweep in
San Francisco and other Northern California cities in which federal officers would like
to arrest 1,500 illegal aliens.
A source familiar with the operation said that in doing this, ICE is hoping to send
the message that immigration policy will be enforced in the sanctuary state.
The campaign will reportedly be centered in the Bay Area, and it could begin in the next
few weeks.
The source, who requested anonymity, said that if it is successful, the operation would
be the biggest enforcement action of its kind under President Trump.
The source went on to explain that the operation will target people who have been identified
as targets for deportation, including those who have been served with final deportation
orders and those with criminal histories.
This number may increase, however, if officers come across other undocumented immigrants
in the course of their actions and make what are known as collateral arrests.
This comes months after California Governor Jerry Brown SB54, which enacted a statewide
sanctuary law.
Liberal supporters of the bill said that it allows undocumented immigrants to cooperate
with local police and seek education, health care and other public services without worrying
they will expose themselves to possible deportation.
ICE Director Thomas Homan wasn't having any of it, however, as he said that the federal
government would not allow California to be "a sanctuary state for illegal aliens,"
and would have no choice but to "conduct at-large arrests in local neighborhoods and
at worksites, which will inevitably result in additional collateral arrests, instead
of focusing on arrests at jails and prisons where transfers are safer for ICE officers
and the community."
At the beginning of January, Homan warned that "California better hold on tight"
and that if local politicians "don't want to protect their communities, then ICE will."
When asked about the upcoming operation, ICE spokesman James Schwab said that the agency
"doesn't comment on future or current operations."

BREAKING! California Governor Faces INDICTMENT! - Duration: 21:12.
BREAKING!
California Governor Faces INDICTMENT!
As of January 1, 2018, a new law went into effect in California that prohibits law enforcement
officials from cooperating with federal immigration authorities, including Immigration & Customs
Enforcement (ICE) agents.
The so-called "sanctuary state" law is just the latest liberal rejection of federal
law, but common sense, as Gov. Jerry Brown and the Democratic leadership of California
chooses to put the safety of criminal aliens ahead of law-abiding citizens and lawful immigrants.
Brown has also put himself directly in the crosshairs in what may well be a showdown
between with the federal government.
The acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement reacted forcefully to the new
law, telling Fox News that Californians "better hold on tight" promising "they're about
to see a lot more deportation officers.
If politicians don't protect their communities then ICE will."
"There's no sanctuary from law enforcement," he said.
"Homan said.
"I think it's terrible."
Homan said Gov. Brown could face federal prosecution for violation of 8 U.S. Code § 1324, which
governs harboring of illegal aliens.
"…any person knowing… the fact that an alien has come to… the United States
in violation of the law, conceals, harbors or shields from detection… such [an] alien
in any place… can face fines and/or up to several years in prison."
The ICE director says he hopes the Department of Justice (DOJ) will "look into whether
officials can be held personally responsible and charged under the federal statute."
U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has not publicly stated whether his DOJ will take
such action, but he issued a statement saying the California law, "… risks the safety
of good law enforcement officers and the safety of the neighborhoods that need their protection
the most."
ICE Director Homan went further, saying Gov. Brown "bit off a lot more than he can chew."
If Brown were to be successfully prosecuted for harboring or shielding aliens who entered
the U.S. illegally, officials in other sanctuary jurisdictions, such as Chicago Mayor Rahm
Emanuel and New York's Bill de Blasio, could also face similar charges for preventing their
law enforcement agencies from cooperating with ICE agents.
Do you believe the Department of Justice should take action against government officials who
enforce sanctuary status for their jurisdictions?

Donald Dares To Give California Exactly What They Begged For—But Now They're Petrified - Duration: 3:12.
Donald Dares To Give California Exactly What They Begged For—But Now They're Petrified
Liberal states love to grandstand against President Trump.
Until it comes time for federal support.
Many states rely on the backing of the federal government.
The White House provides tons of help to the states, including grants, funds, staff, and
protection.
If you remove all this Welfare for the government, many states would go belly up.
Perhaps the most belligerent liberal state is California.
From day one of Trump's administration, they've been an enemy.
It seems like Jerry Brown and his senators have forgotten all the help the White House
sends his beleaguered state.
Now the president is threatening to withdraw this one pillar of protection.
And California is in big trouble.
From The San Diego Union-Tribune:
President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he's considering pulling Immigration and
Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers out of California.
Why?
Because he feels the state is giving his administration "no help" in targeting the violent MS-13
gang, especially in Los Angeles.
"We're getting no help from the state of California," Trump said from the White
House.
"Frankly, if I wanted to pull our people from California you would have a crime nest
like you've never seen in California.
All I'd have to do is say 'ICE and border patrol, let California learn…'"
"You would see crime like nobody's ever seen crime in this country," he said of
California without federal immigration agents.
"And yet we get no help from the state of California."
Liberals love bashing President Trump.
But the fact remains, they need him desperately.
The virtue signaling you see on the news is completely empty.
Without ongoing relief provided by the federal government, states like California would be
in ruins.
But these days, liberals are going too far.
They don't realize that without the support of ICE, they'd be overwhelmed with criminal
activity.
All those illegals they protect aren't boy scouts.
Horrible drug cartels exploit the border.
They torture, murder, and rape innocents.
The only thing that seems to stop them from destroying California is Trump's ICE.
The limp-wristed CA government will be powerless to stop MS-13.
Their sanctuary policies make sure drug cartels are free to do what they wish.
Liberals take it for granted that the federal government is propping them up.
But what else do you expect?
Liberals always succeed off the backs of the rest of us.
That's their entire platform.
I, personally, hope Trump makes good on his word.
The ungrateful CA government needs to wake up.
Real lives are at stake.
Every American-loving Californian deserves better than Brown, Harris, and Feinstein.
They need to see that their leaders are traitors.

It's Official! California Dem Party REFUSES To Endorse Her For Re-Election After What She Did! - Duration: 7:41.
It's Official!
California Dem Party REFUSES To Endorse Her For Re-Election After What She Did!
California Democrats have once again proven that they are about 8 shades of insane.
When left to choose between CRAZY and CRAZIER it seems California chooses CRAZIER every
single time!
This time is no different as the state of California Democratic Party has refused to
endorse incumbent and current Senator Dianne Feinstein and her bid for re-election this
year.
Instead, the party's annual convention has chosen to give the majority of their votes
to her top primary challenger – the progressive State Sen. Kevin de Leon.
Feinstein at 84-years-old is considered the oldest member of the Senate and is currently
seeking her sixth term.
Currently, De Leon has 54% of the vote, as compared to just 37% for the more moderate
Feinstein.
Luckily, neither candidate will receive the state party endorsement due to the failure
of both candidates to reach the 60% threshold.
However, according to recent RealClearPolitics polls averages, Feinstein leads de Leon by
29% points in the primary race.De Leon stated while speaking to Politico – "The outcome
of today's endorsement vote is an astounding rejection of politics as usual, and it boosts
our campaign's momentum as we all stand shoulder-to-shoulder against a complacent
status quo.
California Democrats are hungry for new leadership that will fight for California values from
the front lines, not equivocate on the sidelines."
Many Conservatives and Republicans will remember De Leon from when he was mocked relentlessly
a few years ago after making a significant number of inaccurate statements while promoting
a bill that would require individuals who manufacturer homemade firearms to undergo
background checks.
De Leon's ridiculously uninformed and uneducated expose on the so-called "ghost gun" was
caught on video for all to see.De Leon begins, holding an unloaded rifle in his hands and
then claims – "This is a ghost gun.
This right here has the ability with a .30-caliber clip to disperse with 30 bullets within half
a second.
Thirty magazine clip in half a second."
Except even the left-leaning Associated Press states – "…the rifle on display in the
video is indeed a homemade fully automatic rifle.
Still, a rate of fire of 60 rounds per second — or 3,600 rounds per minute — is unlikely
with a "homemade" rifle.
Fully automatic weapons are also essentially banned already, even if they are homemade.
The average rate of fire for a semi-automatic rifle is roughly 120 rounds per minute, depending
on the shooter and reload time."
De Leon may also be remembered for proclaiming on the California Senate floor that "half
his family" was in the country illegally, using false documents, and eligible for deportation
under President Trump's new executive order against "sanctuary" jurisdiction while
introducing a bill known as SB54, which was the bill to make California a "Sanctuary
State."
He said – "… I can tell you half of my family would be eligible for deportation
under [President Donald Trump's] executive order, because if they got a false Social
Security card, if they got a false identification, if they got a false driver's license prior
to us passing AB60, if they got a false green card, and anyone who has family members, you
know, who are undocumented knows that almost entirely everybody has secured some sort of
false identification.
That's what you need to survive, to work.
They are eligible for massive deportation."In the meantime, the more moderate Feinstein
has been taking heat for actually being rational.
She took heat last fall after she was heard by many of her leftist counterparts actually
voicing optimism about President Donald Trump becoming what she termed "a good president".
Feinstein also voiced criticism of former President Barack Obama's Deferred Action
for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, stating it was on shaky legal ground.
In California that is tantamount to blasphemy to voice any opposition to illegal immigration
or DACA on any level.
For those that do not know, President Trump has ended DACA and the current debate rages
on as to exactly what to do with them.
DACA provided a level of amnesty to certain illegal immigrants — many of whom came to
the United States as children.
Many believe that Feinstein will be incredibly difficult to beat however due to her establishment
support, as well as her standing among independents and women.
Both of which are considered two key voting blocs in the state.
A San Fransisco-based pollster, Ben Tulchin admitted – "It will be tough to outflank
her in that capacity."
Many other Californians took to social media to voice their displeasure at the decision
to support De Leon over Feinstein.
Feinstein is not without her faults as she is currently calling for what she termed a
"full out assault weapons ban" in the wake of the recent Parkland school shooting.
She states in response –
Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) last week issued the following statement calling for
a hearing on her bill to ban assault weapons:
"Over this past week, we've heard passionate pleas from students who survived a massacre
and lost their friends and teachers.
There have been 239 shootings at schools since 20 first graders were slaughtered at Sandy
Hook—the last time we said 'never again.'
These shootings resulted in 438 people being wounded, 138 fatally.
There's no other country where school shootings are a monthly occurrence, no other country
where children are afraid they are going to be killed at school, and we've got to stop
it.
"Through their pain, these students have been demanding lawmakers take action to make
sure an AR-15 isn't used to perpetrate another mass shooting.
At a rally this week, one of the Parkland students said, 'We can't protect our guns
before we protect our children.'
We owe it to these students to listen.
"Our country is in the midst of a significant conversation on gun reform, and our bill to
ban assault weapons, which is before the Judiciary Committee, deserves a hearing.
"From Aurora to Sandy Hook, San Bernardino to Las Vegas, Sutherland Springs to Parkland,
one common thread that runs through mass shootings is the use of AR-15 military-style assault
weapons.
These weapons are designed to kill the greatest number of people in the shortest amount of
time and we need to get these weapons of war off our streets.
"Republicans falsely claim that the federal ban in 1994 didn't work.
When the assault weapons ban was in place, the number of gun massacres fell by 37 percent
and the number of people dying from gun massacres fell by 43 percent.
After the ban expired, the number of gun massacres increased by 183 percent and the number of
people dying from gun massacres increased by 239 percent.
"The ban was effective, but Republicans still blocked its extension at the behest
of the NRA.
Today, however, the tide is turning and the public overwhelmingly favors stronger gun
laws.
We deserve a hearing."
