Black Panther Deserves Oscar Nomination Dark Knight DIDN'T ! - Duration: 8:31.

oh boy this is the kind of article that really gets people angry!

what's up everybody? today I'm here to talk about Black Panther and the Dark Knight

today I ran into an article that has a very inflammatory title it says Black

Panther deserves a Best Picture Oscar nomination The Dark Knight didn't. the

first person that came to my mind when I read this was Jeremy from geeks and

gamers cuz I know that he loves the Dark Knight even though I I know he

likes Black Panther as well I'm pretty sure that this is the kind of article

that would make him yell at the screen like what? and not only him but a lot of

people there are fans of the movie. Now I have to completely disagree with this

statement over here even though I loved Black Panther I know that a lot of

people think Black Panther is overrated but to say that Black Panther deserves

the nomination the Dark Knight didn't it's just it's not right

it's definitely not right the dark knight came out 11 years ago and at the

time everyone was shocked that it was completely snubbed at the Oscars because

it was just such a great film to me it is a masterpiece of filmmaking and not only

have incredible acting you awesome music score you have a really

compelling story there's just so many reasons why that movie works the other

thing that I think it worked is because you have eight incredible

villain and we all know that the hero is only as good as its villain

we all know that the Joker is a psychopath he's manipulative and he

knows how to use and how to play on Batman weakness which is his moral code

and that's exactly why he's not scared of him and that's why the Joker wants

Batman to kill him because if he does that he will completely go against

his own moral code and that relationship is just fascinating and oh my God the

Dark Knight is with beyond without a doubt an incredible film

it definitely deserved an Oscar nomination black panther on the other

hand it was one of my favorite films of 2018

and I'll give you the reasons why first of all I love African culture and

I think it shows beautifully in the film I love the costumes the fighting the

choreography even their accent the way they talk I love the characters in their

development throughout the film I think Kilmonger which is the villain or

antihero has a lot of layers which I thought it was pretty great because it

kind of makes you sympathize with the guy and at the same times you understand

why he became a villain I loved Okoye I think that she's such a cool fighter and

Black Panther is such he's a true hero you know that guy that really wants

to do good by his people so I have no problem with this nomination whatsoever

but I do have a problem if people say that Black Panther deserved the

nomination Dark Knight didn't because I believe that's completely unfair

again because the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight was the movie that set the bar

high for all these superhero films and you can even argue that Zack Snyder was

influenced by Christopher Nolan that's why he began at the DC Universe so dark

but that's a subject for another video but let's talk a little bit about the

Oscars I believe there's a couple of reasons why Black Panther got nominated

first of all we know that the Oscars they changed the category for Best

Picture from five nominees to ten and the reason why they did that perhaps is

to include this kind of big films because the problem is that if you

haven't really been following the news for the past couple of years no one is

watching the Oscars anymore and they're losing audience and that that's a no-no

they need audience because otherwise they won't be able to air the show

anymore a way for them to have people actually watch the show is to include

this big movies that everyone saw I believe that the reason why the Oscars

lost a lot of popularity among audiences it's for two reasons the first reason is

because a lot of the films that are popular amongst the general audience is

never nominated so why would one even care to watch and second it's because it has

become incredibly political now all the actors

taking the stage to again talk about politics and people are kind of getting

sick about it and that's exactly why I don't like politics or even talking

about politics because left and right are never going to see common ground

that's why I hate talking about it but we can all agree even if you're a person

like me that you don't like talking politics that politics has really being

very much present in every single franchises and movies lately and people

are just getting sick of it that was no longer about character development or a

good story now it's about politics and gender and you know we see that with

Ghostbusters we see that with the last year die as well you know forget about

the force cuz the first now is a joke I mean we could go on and on and on

people are just sick of seeing politics in the shows they're sick of seeing

politics and films and like I said politics itself is something that it's

always going to be controversial it's something that is always going to create

debate and fight so I guess that people are just so sick of all of this they're

just no longer interested in watching these shows and now the Oscars they're

kind of trying to find a way to rescue the honest again and have them tune in

and watch these shows and I believe that's why they nominate a Black Panther

even though like I said I love the movie I think the movie is great now if you

read this article this person is saying that black men too deserves the

nomination for political reasons and I have to disagree because again the

Oscars should not be about politics it should be about the quality of the film

and that's exactly why I completely disagree

even though myself I love the film I thought it's a great film I don't care

about the nomination it's great that is nominations my problem is not with the

nomination itself my problem is the fact that is saying that it deserves the

nomination for political reasons but the Dark Knight doesn't I mean since when

the Oscars is supposed to be about politics to begin with they should be

about celebrating the art form of film right but again guys we live in a time

that is no longer about that and that's exactly why this guy saying like them to

deserve is in that dark night didn't which is definitely a terrible thing to

say you I could go on and on and on of how many

reasons why the Dark Knight definitely deserved not only a nomination but an

Oscar as a Best Picture for sure because again I watch film and

entertainment because I love filmmaking I went to school for film that's I love

these things but to me is very sad to see all these politics and these

narratives kind of taking over and it's no longer about a good movie or about a

good storytelling anymore it's about a certain representation that's more

important than everything else but like I said I think this is kind of sad is

these award shows are no longer about celebrating the art form of filmmaking

is about celebrating political agendas and all these things that it kind of

again takes the fun out of everything and you know and this is coming from a

person like I said that loved Black Panther and I loved the Dark Knight

again I will say one more time I have no problem with the nomination but to tell

me that the Black Panther deserved the nomination Dark Knight didn't act is

just terrible it's definitely not a true statement because the Dark Knight is and

will always be one of the best superhero films ever made but anyways guys that is

my viewpoint on all this controversy over here I'd love to hear your thoughts

TODAY WE'RE GONNA MEET SULA SKILES,

A WOMAN WHO WAS LURED TO A FOREIGN COUNTRY

WITH THE PROMISE OF A GREAT JOB AND FANTASTIC PAY.

IT JUST FELT LIKE A DREAM COME TRUE.

BUT AFTER ARRIVING, SHE FOUND OUT

SHE WAS BOUGHT AS A CHRISTMAS PRESENT

FOR A BILLIONAIRE AND HIS GIRLFRIEND.

I JUST REALIZED, "I'VE BEEN LIED TO,

"I'VE BEEN TRICKED, I'VE BEEN COERCED

INTO A SITUATION THAT I HAD NO IDEA

THAT I WAS GETTING INTO."

TAKE US BACK TO THAT TIME IN YOUR LIFE.

WHAT WERE YOU DOING? WHERE WERE YOU LIVING?

SO, ABOUT 14 YEARS AGO,

I WAS A VERY YOUNG AND NAIVE MODEL.

I'D JUST GOT HIRED WITH A MODEL-MANAGEMENT COMPANY

AND WAS INVITED TO THIS BILLIONAIRE'S HOME FOR AN EVENT.

AND UPON LEAVING, I WAS APPROACHED BY HIM

AND JUST, "HI. THANK YOU FOR COMING.

YOU KNOW, I HOPE I GET TO SEE YOU AGAIN."

I DIDN'T REALLY THINK TOO MUCH OF IT.

AND I WAS OFFERED A MODELING JOB WITH HIS CLOTHING LINE.

AND THEY WERE GONNA SEND ME TO ANOTHER COUNTRY,

ALL EXPENSES PAID.

NOW, HOLD WERE YOU AT THIS POINT?

-I WAS 20 YEARS OLD. -SO, YOU WERE 20.

AND YOU'D BEEN IN THE INDUSTRY FOR HOW LONG?

OH, GOSH, MONTHS, LIKE, JUST BRAND-NEW.

HOW DID IT FEEL TO GET THIS KIND OF ACCEPTANCE

JUST A COUPLE MONTHS IN?

I THOUGHT THAT THIS WAS THE BEGINNING OF

WHAT I'D BEEN HOPING FOR AND WORKING SO HARD FOR.

I GOT ON THE PLANE WITH A ONE-WAY TICKET

AND HAD TOTAL CONFIDENCE

THAT I WOULD BE SHORTLY RETURNING HOME

TO THE UNITED STATES.

ARRIVING TO THE AIRPORT, I REMEMBER, LIKE,

GOING AND FIXING MY MAKEUP

AND MAKING SURE THAT I WAS,

YOU KNOW, PRESENTABLE AFTER A LONG FLIGHT.

AND I WAS PICKED UP IN A LUXURIOUS VEHICLE

AND, LIKE, WHISKED AWAY TO THIS RESORT.

AND IT WAS JUST BEAUTIFUL. IT WAS PARADISE.

THE EXCITEMENT CAME TO A SCREECHING HALT

WHEN I REALIZED THAT THE ROOM THAT I WAS TAKEN INTO --

JUST SOMETHING DIDN'T FEEL RIGHT.

AS I WAS LOOKING AROUND,

I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS PERSONAL BELONGINGS THERE,

AND ALMOST IMMEDIATELY, HE CAME IN.

HE STARTED GRABBING MY BODY AND GRABBING MY CURVES,

AND HE YANKED ME INTO HIM AND JUST BASICALLY SAID,

"OH, WE'RE GONNA HAVE A WHOLE LOT OF FUN."

HE TOLD ME, "GET READY. WE'RE GONNA GO TO THE EVENT."

WE WERE TAKEN TO A NIGHTCLUB,

MYSELF AND A FEW OTHER GIRLS.

THERE WAS NO STEP AND REPEAT.

THERE WAS NO ASSISTANT BRINGING ME INTO A BACK ROOM

TO START SIZING ME FOR CLOTHES.

THERE WAS NO CLOTHING. THERE WAS NO MEDIA.

THERE WAS NO REPRESENTATION OF THE CLOTHING AT ALL.

THIS EVENT THAT I WAS COMING TO MODEL AT

WAS JUST A NIGHTCLUB.

YOU KNOW, AS WE WERE SEATED,

ONE OF THE GIRLS PULLED ME CLOSE TO HER

RIGHT WHEN HE STEPPED AWAY.

SHE SAID, "I DON'T WANT THE SAME THING TO HAPPEN TO YOU

"THAT HAPPENED TO THE GIRL THAT JUST LEFT.

SHE WAS RAPED. SHE WAS BEATEN."

SHE SAID, "JUST BE GOOD. JUST BE GOOD."

AND THAT WAS THE MOMENT

I REALIZED THAT I WAS IN A REALLY BAD SITUATION

AND I HAD NO WAY OUT OF IT.

I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE AN INTERNATIONAL PLAN ON MY PHONE

BECAUSE I WAS THAT CONFIDENT THAT I WOULD BE SAFE

ON THIS MODELING ASSIGNMENT.

THE PROPERTY ITSELF HAD A SECURITY CHECKPOINT,

SO IT WASN'T LIKE I COULD JUST RUN OFF BY MYSELF.

HIS PEOPLE WERE ALWAYS WATCHING.

I WAS REALLY TERRIFIED OF WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO ME

IF I BROKE THE RULES.

THERE APPEARED TO BE NO WAY OUT.

YOU KNOW, THAT NIGHT, AS WE WERE BROUGHT BACK

TO THIS LUXURIOUS RESORT,

I WAS FORCED TO -- TO SLEEP WITH THIS MONSTER.

YOU FOUND OUT AT ONE POINT

THAT YOU WERE PURCHASED FOR A PRESENT?

I WALKED INTO HIS OFFICE

AND KINDLY ASKED HIM

IF I COULD GET A TICKET HOME.

AND IT WAS AT THAT MOMENT THAT HE TOLD ME,

"NO, YOU'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE.

"I BOUGHT YOU AS A CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR MY GIRLFRIEND.

"YOU CAN'T GO ANYWHERE.

"YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO GO ANYWHERE

"BECAUSE SHE'S ON HOLIDAY WITH HER FAMILY,

AND WHEN SHE RETURNS, YOU'RE GONNA DO WHAT I BOUGHT YOU FOR."

THERE WAS THIS ONE NIGHT

WHERE I WAS CALLED TO HIS BEDROOM

WITH THESE TWO OTHER GIRLS THAT WERE BRAND-NEW.

AND IT WAS HORRIFIC.

AND I JUST REMEMBER

AFTER THIS MONSTER HAD BASICALLY HAD HIS FILL,

I WAS JUST COMFORTING THE GIRLS THAT WERE CRYING

AND JUST SITTING WITH THEM

'CAUSE IT WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT THEY'D BEEN RAPED BY HIM.

THE NEXT MORNING, I WAS REALLY SURPRISED

BECAUSE THESE TWO GIRLS -- THEY GOT TO GO HOME.

HOW LONG WAS THIS WHOLE PERIOD OF TIME?

I WAS ONLY THERE FOR THREE WEEKS,

BUT IT FELT LIKE MUCH LONGER

BECAUSE EVERY DAY I WAS BEING RAPED.

THERE WAS NOBODY THAT WAS TRYING TO TRACK ME DOWN OR FIND ME

OR EVEN IN DISTRESS THAT I WAS GONE.

I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT BY CONVINCING THIS MAIN GIRLFRIEND

THAT I WOULD STAY CONNECTED WITH HER

IF SHE COULD SOMEHOW GET ME A TICKET HOME.

SO, AS SOON AS YOU

GET THAT TICKET BACK TO THE U.S. AND YOU LAND,

WHAT DO YOU DO NEXT?

I DID NOT CALL THE POLICE.

AND WHETHER CONSCIOUSLY OR SUBCONSCIOUSLY,

THE ENTIRE EVENT GOT COMPLETELY SUPPRESSED AND DISCONNECTED.

I STARTED LIVING AS IF I HAD NEVER BEEN TRAFFICKED,

AS IF I'D NEVER BEEN RAPED,

AND AS IF I'D NEVER EXPERIENCED

ALL OF THE VILE THINGS THAT HE DID TO MY BODY.

IT WAS COMPLETELY ERASED FROM MY MEMORY.

AND THEN WHAT WAS THE EVENT THAT BROUGHT IT BACK OUT?

I WAS SPEAKING AT A WOMEN'S CONFERENCE,

AND I WAS SHARING MY LIFE STORY

TO INSPIRE WOMEN AND BRING HOPE

THAT THEY CAN OVERCOME, THEY CAN SURVIVE.

AND AFTER SPEAKING AT THAT EVENT AND SEEING MANY TEARS

AND MANY WOMEN THAT WERE MOVED AND FINDING HEALING,

I JUST HAD THIS MOMENT

WHERE I KNEW THERE WAS SOMETHING THAT I DIDN'T SHARE.

I REALIZED THAT THIS IS PART OF MY LIFE

THAT I WAS GONNA GIVE AWAY, TOO,

THAT I WOULD GIVE THIS PART OF MY LIFE AWAY

SO THAT -- THAT SOMEONE ELSE COULD GET HOPE

AND THAT SOMEONE ELSE COULD SURVIVE,

SO THAT SOMEONE ELSE COULD FIND HEALING.

WHEN YOU FINALLY DID REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED,

DID YOU TAKE ANY STEPS TO TALK WITH THE POLICE

OR TO FIND SOME SORT OF RECOURSE FOR JUSTICE?

WELL, IT'S REALLY HARD FOR ME TO GET INTO DETAIL

IN ANSWERING THAT QUESTION.

I HAVE REPORTED THIS.

BUT THIS MAN HAS APPEARED TO BE PRETTY UNTOUCHABLE,

EVEN OVER THE LAST 14 YEARS.

IN THE ME TOO MOVEMENT,

WE'VE SEEN TOP PEOPLE DO THE EXACT SAME THING,

WHERE THERE ARE ACCUSATIONS BUILDING UP FOR YEARS

AND NOTHING HAPPENS BECAUSE THEY HAVE MONEY,

BECAUSE THEY'RE BUYING PEOPLE OFF,

BECAUSE THEY HAVE POWER AND THEY HAVE INFLUENCE.

DO YOU HAVE HOPE

THAT HE WILL ONE DAY BE BROUGHT TO JUSTICE?

THERE ARE SEVERAL ACCUSATIONS

THAT HAVE BEEN BROUGHT AGAINST HIM OVER THE YEARS,

AND HE HAS NOT BEEN BROUGHT TO JUSTICE YET.

I DO BELIEVE THAT HIS DAY IS COMING,

BUT UNTIL THEN,

SHARING DETAILS ABOUT WHO HE IS AND WHAT HE DID TO ME

AND CONNECTING HIS NAME,

EVEN PUBLICLY WHEN I SPEAK ABOUT IT --

THE RISK IS DEATH.

I COULD DIE. MY FAMILY COULD DIE.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR PEOPLE OUT THERE

WHO COULD BE IN THIS SITUATION?

WHAT RED FLAGS CAN THEY LOOK OUT FOR?

IS MANY TIMES IT HAPPENS

WITH, LIKE, A BOYFRIEND,

WHERE IT SEEMS TO BE THIS GROOMING PROCESS

OF JUST BEING, YOU KNOW, IN LOVE.

AND THEN ONE DAY, THERE IS THIS SWITCH THAT HAPPENS

AND A GIRL OR BOY IS BEING TOLD,

"I'VE GIVEN YOU ALL OF THIS STUFF.

"NOW YOU HAVE TO GO OUT THERE,

AND YOU HAVE TO DO THESE THINGS FOR ME."

ANYTIME THAT YOU'RE BEING ISOLATED

AND CUT OFF FROM PEOPLE,

YOU KNOW, THERE'S A POTENTIAL THERE FOR DANGER,

AND THAT'S USUALLY THE FIRST STEP,

IS GROOMING AND ISOLATION.

IF YOU THINK THAT YOU COULD POSSIBLY BE

IN A SITUATION WHERE YOU'RE BEING FORCED

TO DO THINGS SEXUALLY THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO DO

 Seb tries to appeal to Gary Windass' good will as he explains that he doesn't stand a chance in the hearing without a full-time job

 Actor Harry Visinoni says that the action gives his character Seb a "glimmer of hope"

 Later, his mood dampens when Abi and Eileen call at the yard and try to talk him out of trying to adopt his siblings

 Seb is seething with rage over their interference and a row between them escalates

However neither party notices that Gary has arrived with a potential client, who is very unimpressed

 The client tells Gary that he will be taking his business elsewhere, resulting in an angry Gary firing Seb on the spot

 Seb is heartbroken and desperate, offering Sarah a shocking ultimatum.  At the twins' hearing, Seb resorts to lying as he claims that he's got a full time job and that Eileen is backing him

 However Abi reveals the truth and says that, while it breaks her heart, the twins should remain with their foster parents as Seb is lying about his situation

 Afterwards, Seb feels betrayed by everyone and lashes out at Gary for sacking him when he needed the job the most

 He then reveals that Sarah spent the night at Adam's - how will Gary react? Tyrone Dobbs' heartbreaking discovery about mum  Tyrone Dobbs' relationship with grandmother Evelyn could be fractured forever after she finally reveals the truth about his mum

 Tyrone (Alan Halsall) continues to behave frostily towards his grandmother after discovering that she is very close with her other grandson James

 And, to make matters worse, James drops a bombshell on Tyrone that leaves him reeling and entirely distrustful of his grandmother

 Evelyn, played by Maureen Lipman, notices that something is wrong.  When she gets ready to leave for her holiday with James, Tyrone tells James that she abandoned him as a baby, not his mum

 Evelyn realises that she has little choice but to tell Tyrone the truth about when really happened

 He is left heartbroken when Evelyn reveals that Tyrone's mum Cassie was a drug addict who left him on the steps of a police station, believing at the time that it was the kindest thing for her to do

 Evelyn insists that she is so sorry about what happened and that she never stopped thinking about him

 Tyrone is left incredibly hurt and upset by the story - but how will he react to Evelyn?  It seems not too well, as a bitter Tyrone tells her to enjoy her holiday and to not bother coming back to Weatherfield

 Evelyn desperately tries to get Roy to speak to him.  Roy has a heart-to-heart with Tyrone and warns him against blocking Evelyn out

 Opening up about his own heartbreak following his mum Sylvia's death, he reveals his own regrets about not having a proper relationship with her

 Will Tyrone listen to Roy's advice? Sarah and Adam's secret 'romp' exposed  Gary Windass is furious after finding out about girlfriend Sarah Platt's secret snog with solicitor and Weatherfield lothario Adam Barlow

 A frustrated Sarah was seduced by Adam during a late night drinking session following her irritation at Gary's ineptness

 Not only has he been hiding his money issues from her, but Gary has been buying his son Zak a number of designer labels

When he went out for lunch with Nicola without telling her, it was the final straw

 So when Adam Barlow suggested a nightcap back at his flat Sarah accepted, keen to avoid Gary

 But when the pair get cosy on the sofa, things moved pretty fast for the pair.   After Seb's bad adoption hearing, he lashes out at at Gary for sacking him when he needed the job the most

 He then reveals that Sarah spent the night at Adam's - how will Gary react? Peter reverts back to his 'love rat' ways  Peter Barlow and Abi Franklin will finally act upon their flirting next week as they enjoy a romp in his boat

 But it looks like the pair could be in for a very awkward moment as Carla Connor catches them out

 How will she react and will the factory boss be seething with jealousy?  Abi helps Peter out by taking a look at his boat engine

She agrees to fix it and is chuffed when he offers her a full time job working on the boat

 But Abi is in for heartache as she finds herself at odds with son Seb over the adoption battle for custody of the twins

 In court, she reveals that Seb is lying about being in full time employment and having the backing of Eileen

 Seb feels utterly betrayed and Abi is devastated at the effect it has had on her son

 Peter notices how upset Abi is later and takes her back to his boat where he comforts her

 But the atmosphere soon turns passionate and the pair end up kissing.  At the end of the week, Peter discovers Abi working on the boat and she tells him that she needs to keep busy in order to stay out of trouble

 She asks about his relationship with Carla and Peter insists that they are just friends, resulting in the pair kissing again

 Meanwhile, Carla is leaving the factory when she notices a light on in the boat and heads over to see what is happening

Is she about to interrupt an intimate moment?  Later, Peter spots Carla heading into the factory and tells Abi that it's too cold to spend a night in the boat together

 He heads after Carla and the pair end up chatting about their relationship.  Peter leans in for a kiss
