'UFO' spotted over California sparks fear of 'alien invasion' during SpaceX launch

The stunning phenomenon sparked panic from Californian residents – who unaware of the planned launch believed it could be a visit from an alien UFO or spacecraft.

The footage of the launch looked spectacular across the night sky with a luminous blue trail. Twitter user Melanie Dramos said: "Saw a God damn UFO in Hollywood guys, what?".

Twitter user CRO said: "We are not alone." SpaceX is Mr Musk's agency and it has re-used Falcon 9 on five separate missions, all of which were launched this year.

The mission sends 10 satellites into orbit and Space X said this is the fourt flight for long-time customer Iridium.

BREAKING: Famous Sportscaster Found Dead In Southern California…

OMG!!!

It is with great sadness that we have to report that Dick Enberg, the legendary sports broadcaster

was found dead Thursday at his Southern California home.Enberg worked on hundreds of sporting

events from the Super Bowl to the Olympics.

Enberg's daughter, Nicole, told the Associated Press that her family became concerned when

he didn't arrive on his flight to Boston earlier Thursday.

He was found dead at his home in La Jolla, a San Diego neighborhood, with his bags packed.

The family said it believes he may have died of a heart attack, but that has not been confirmed

yet.

Fox News reports that Enberg's career spanned 60 years in which he got to call games for

UCLA basketball, Super Bowls, Olympics, Final Fours and several Major League Baseball games.

He retired in 2016 after calling games for the San Diego Padres for seven yearsHe was

known for his countless calls of "Oh my!" for amazing plays and "touch 'em all"

for home runs.

Enberg got his foot in the door as a radio station custodian in Mount Pleasant, Mich.

When he was a junior at Central Michigan.

He made $1 hour.

The owner of the station also gave him weekend sports and disc jockey gigs, also at $1 an

hour.

From there he began doing high school and college football games.

During his nine years broadcasting UCLA basketball, the Bruins won eight NCAA titles.

Enberg broadcast nine no-hitters, including two by San Francisco's Tim Lincecum against

the Padres in 2013 and 2014.

He said the most historically important event he covered was "The Game of the Century,"

Houston's victory over UCLA in 1968 that snapped the Bruins' 47-game winning streak.

"That was the platform from which college basketball's popularity was sent into the

stratosphere," Enberg said.

"The `79 game, the Magic-Bird game, everyone wants to credit that as the greatest game

of all time That was just the booster rocket that sent it even higher.

… UCLA, unbeaten; Houston, unbeaten.

And then the thing that had to happen, and Coach Wooden hated when I said this, but UCLA

had to lose.

That became a monumental event."

Enberg's many former broadcast partners included Merlin Olsen, Al McGuire, Billy Packer,

Don Drysdale and Tony Gwynn.

He even worked a few games with Wooden, whom he called "The greatest man I've ever

known other than my own father."

Enberg called Padres games for seven seasons and went into the broadcasters' wing of

the Hall of Fame in 2015.

John Ireland, the radio voice of the Los Angeles Lakers, tweeted that "If there was a Mount

Rushmore of LA Sports Announcers, Dick Enberg is on it with Chick Hearn, Vin Scully and

Bob Miller.

Rams, Angels, UCLA, NBC, and so much more.

Was the first famous announcer I ever met, and he couldn't have been nicer.

Definition of a gentleman."

Enberg won 13 Sports Emmy Awards and a Lifetime Achievement Emmy.

He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and UCLA named its Media Center in Pauley

Pavilion after Enberg this year.

Everything you need to know about that UFO spotted in southern California (2017) - Duration: 4:08.

Hi there, it's me, Tim Dodd, the Everyday Astronaut.

And there's UFOs in southern California.

Well, actually these are identified flying objects because there is an exact explanation

for what this is and it's something I'm extremely excited about.

Let me show you and I can understand exactly why most of southern California was going

nuts for this, look at this.

Woah.

Yeah, if I saw that thing filling up the sky and I didn't know what it is...

I would say that was a alien abduction, UFO literally in the works.

But what it actually is, is to me, honestly almost more exciting than that.

That would be pretty exciting though.

But it's one of these, it's a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.

This is Elon Musk's rocket company right there in Hawthorne California.

They were launching a Falcon 9 rocket out of Vandenberg Air Force Base and that's about

3 hours north, northwest of LA.

These are about, in real life these things are 220 feet tall, 70 meters tall.

They have 9 big ole massive Merlin engines on the first stage and what you're seeing

here on the footage is the separation of the first and second stage.

So after about two minutes and 40 seconds this first stage ends up burning up, or almost

out of fuel and then it turns around and it lights its engines but the second stage continues

off into space.

Now SpaceX has been landing these, but this is one of the first missions in a while that

SpaceX has not had margins, to, or a, they didn't end up wanting to land this one.

Because believe it or not, they actually have too many.

Um but I'm going to show you what this is, exactly was.

Here's the launch.

This happened at 5:27 pacific standard time out there in California.

And these things happen often.

These happen about every 2 to 3 weeks.

SpaceX is launching more than any other launch provider right now.

And it's really exciting stuff.

So again this a 220 foot tall rocket.

Um and it launched and it headed south out of Vandenberg Air Force Base here you can

see it lighting up and it lifts off with 1.7 million pounds of thrust.

This thing is incredible.

These are amazing rockets, um they are pioneering how to reuse these giant boosters that are

normally thrown away in the ocean.

And you guys just happened to have the perfect conditions to create that exciting plume,

there's also been sighting like this in Miama when SpaceX launches, when other rocket companies

launch.

And what happens is if it's dark on Earth here and the sunset has already happened and

it's dark in the sky is starting to get dark.

That rocket is 100 to 160 miles or 160 miles or 200 plus kilometers in altitude and its

rocket plume, the smoke and all of its exhaust plume ends up still be illuminated by that

night sky, so it's, or by the sun and even though it's night sky here, it ends up being

illuminated with this really cool ghostly looking effect and that's exactly what you

guys were seeing.

So here we can see the Falcon 9 accelerating.

I'm going to go ahead and skip forward just a little bit, so you can get a better sense

of when this stage separation occurred.

Right about here... you'll see um stage separation.

So this is still the first stage burning brightly and watch what happens here.

That's engine cut off of the first stage and now we'll see the two stages separate like

I showed you before with the models and then the first stage is turning around while the

second stage reignites and that's exactly what you guys were seeing and you even see

that the first stage kind of gets pummeled there by the exhaust plume of that second

stage and there goes that first stage reigniting.

I, I get why everyone in California was going nuts, this was an incredible sight but um

again if you guys if you have questions leave them in the comments below.

I talk about all things space, and rockets and NASA.

Um and a lot about SpaceX in my videos, so make sure and subscribe if you guys are interested

in learning more about what this stuff is and why I'm so excited about it.

Umm I, I love this stuff.

This is incredible footage, I, I really wished I lived out there in California to see this

happen but um again, uh if you really want to know at all what SpaceX is and what they're

doing, I have two beginners guides, beginner's guide part one and part two, um so check that

out in my videos below.

But that's going to do it for me, a quick and short little update, updating the people

of California not to panic, not to freak out, but to be excited about a successful mission,

so that's gonna do it for me, I'm Tim Dodd, the Everyday Astronaut, bringing space down

to earth for everyday people.

BREAKING NEWS Out Of California…. It's BAD - Duration: 3:24.

BREAKING NEWS Out Of California….

It's BAD President Trump ran on a platform of immigration

reform that is sorely needed here in the United States, where for far too many years criminal

illegals have infiltrated our country and taken jobs from Americans as well as soaking

up other needed resources.Part of that platform was to secure the border by building a wall,

a feat that is no easy task given the mountains of red tape that exist to prevent the administration

from completing this part of the mission.

One of the obstacles facing the White House's goal of securing the border has to do with

the opposition the private companies who actually want to work on the project are facing. As

it turns out, angry local Democrat lawmakers and those who see nothing wrong with illegal

immigration are boycotting these companies and working to blacklist those who participate

in the project.

Fox News is reporting:Coordinated efforts have been launched in California, Arizona,

Illinois, New York and Rhode Island that would prohibit cities and towns from doing any official

business with the companies as part of a larger resistance strategy to delay construction

of the controversial wall.

Most recently, Berkeley's City Council in California approved an ordinance that would

ban it from contracting with companies involved in the construction.

The proposal, drafted by Mayor Jesse Arreguin and Councilmembers Ben Bartless, Sophie Hahn

and Cheryl Davila, argues that the wall would harm California's prosperity.

Arreguin called the border wall a "highly impractical response to America's broken

immigration system, and a symbol of hatred that will only further demonize the people

of Mexican and Latin American descent."

A year after the 2016 presidential election, many leftists are still sitting in their mom's

basement in their footie pajamas, scratching their heads and drinking hot coco made from

mommy's milk, wondering how in the world Donald Trump got elected president.

Guys, look at what these Democrats are doing, how they are abusing their power and authority

to force these companies to not put America and her interests first and get with the progressive

program or else go out of business.

That's sickening and against every principle of liberty and freedom that exists.

Our nation is one that welcomes immigrants from other countries all the live long day,

so long as they come here legally.

We want the most innovative, bright, energetic, hard working individuals the world has to

offer, but we are a nation of laws and others need to learn to respect those laws.

The fact Democrats have zero respect for the founding principles of our country and for

the care of its own citizens first is why so many people have had it with liberalism

and elected Donald Trump to office.

A nation without borders is not a nation at all, and it's critical for us to protect

our limited resources and reserve those only for law abiding citizens and immigrants with

a vested interested in staying in America for the long haul.

Our country is the greatest in the world due to the opportunities it provides for those

willing to work hard and go the distance, and if we want to keep it that way, we need

to seal the border and stop shaming anyone who is involved with such a project.

BREAKING: 400,000 GONE From California Overnight – This Is MASSIVE - Duration: 5:47.

BREAKING: 400,000 GONE From California Overnight – This Is MASSIVE

They're out of here!

Going once, going twice, and they're gone.

That's right folks.

California has gone off the deep end, and now they've done it.

The state of California has once again set themselves up for failure and made some horrible

governmental decisions that will ultimately ruin the lives of 400,000 Americans.

We're talking about cold hard cash being put in the hand of a select few people while

400,000 may have to beg for handouts and collect welfare, costing the taxpayers more money

than they're already paying now.

Economists warned California about doing it, but they didn't listen.

Those with more expertise, logic, and business skills warned that if California forced every

business to increase their minimum wage to $15, that many companies wouldn't be able

to sustain their business, nor would they be able to retain their employees.

On top of running the risk of closing their shop, they lose hope of being able to hire

future employees.

It's reported that at least 400,000 jobs could be gone thanks to the mandatory minimum

wage increase in California.

The forced increased wages shows why it's wrong for the government to get involved with

businesses and force them to do things they may not be able to afford.

When a small company which is barely scraping by faces a mandatory pay raise that they cannot

afford, then what do you think happens?

The business has two options.

Either the company closes, or they have to fire people.

On top of that, the business can't afford to hire new employees.

People get fired, new jobs aren't made, some companies closed altogether, and that's

where the 400,000 job losses originate.

It's modern-day math folks – businesses need to make enough money to sustain their

livelihood.

If they're forced to pay wages they cannot afford, then their business falls apart.

The number one rule in business is that a company needs to make money to stay alive.

Conservative Tribune reports: That's why it's with such sad news that

California forced the mandatory minimum wage hike and now Californians will suffer.

According to that study, entitled "California Dreamin' of Higher Wages," California

will lose an estimated 400,000 jobs by 2022, the year California's $15 minimum wage has

fully gone into effect.

Not only is the minimum wage increase going to affect hundreds of thousands of workers,

the ones worst-hit will be employees of companies who utilize many lower-class workers.

In other words, many of those Californians who felt they needed to be better compensated

— lower class citizens — will be out of a job entirely.

"The… preferred model show that past minimum wage increases in California have caused a

measurable decrease in employment among affected employees," the study reads.

It looks like California went from dreaming of higher wages to dreaming of welfare and

unemployment.

Conservatives have warned California about what could happen if they force mandatory

wages upon businesses, with the small businesses primarily in mind, and now here we are facing

a massive dilemma of job loss.

It's a known fact that when Seattle first increased all minimum wages to $15 per hour,

that their food service and restaurant industry lost a lot of jobs.

People found out the hard way that when a business can barely pay their bills, and then

the government forces them to pay more bills, that there is a chance people will get fired,

no new jobs will be created, and people suffer.

The article goes into further detail: "By 2022, approximately 400,000 jobs would

be lost as a consequence (of minimum wage increases).

(This estimate is conservative, as it measures the impact of California's state minimum

wage but does not account for job loss in counties that had insufficient data,)" the

study states later on.

And the economists make the point conservatives have been making for years — if you're

flipping burgers and fighting for fifteen, you're fighting for the loss of your job.

"Industries with the greatest number of affected employees are most severely affected

by job loss, according to Even and Macpherson; nearly half of the observed job loss occurs

in foodservice and retail industries," the study went on.

These job losses are not set in stone, the study stated, but they are if California fails

to rationally react to a failing economy, which they seem incapable of doing successfully.

When economists say that doing something will drastically affect the economy of your state

negatively, then the state should consider that and listen to what they're saying.

The only time minimum wage should ever be raised, is when the business decides they

can afford to do so.

California didn't listen, and they just set their residents back and will force some

of them to spend time unemployed and not thriving.

Let's not forget there are some minimum wage jobs which require minimum skills and

they're not designed to be career choices like fast food jobs that are essential for

teenagers to learn responsibility.

There's no reason for fast food to $15 per hour.

Those workers have other options such as looking for new jobs, working up to management, or

realizing they should get job training or an education to build a career for themselves.

Wildfires: California's New Reality | Let's Talk | NPR - Duration: 2:05.

This has been Southern California's

most destructive wildfire season on record:

more than 10,000 structures destroyed

and over a million acres burned.

But even though this season is the worst,

it doesn't stand alone:

Eight of the 10 biggest wildfires in California

have occurred in the past 10 years.

In Santa Barbara and Ventura counties,

the Thomas Fire is now one of the biggest wildfires in state history –

and it won't be stopped until a major rainstorm moves in.

There are three reasons to believe a fire like this even in December is the new normal.

A lot of this has to do with climate change.

In December, the Santa Ana winds blew relentlessly.

These are the hurricane-force gusts

that blow off the Mojave Desert and feed major wildfires.

It's not unusual for Santa Anas this late in the season,

but historically, this region would have had some rain by now.

Scientists believe that storm systems

aren't coming in from the Pacific Ocean

because they're being blocked by high-pressure systems

caused by warming ocean temperatures.

There is also just more fuel now.

Wildfires are part of a natural cycle

that clear forests and brush lands

and allow them to regenerate.

But for over a century, we've actually suppressed wildfires,

which has led to a buildup in fuel

that help produce the modern megafire.

Some of the area where the Thomas Fire is now burning

hasn't burned in over 70 years.

To make matters worse,

we've been developing more in wildlands with high fire risks.

In California alone, there are nearly 500,000 homes in the wildlands

at direct risk of wildfires.

In 1932, a fire similar in size to the Thomas Fire

burned only one structure.

By comparison, 2017's fire in the same area

has burned more than a thousand.

Modern megafires burn so hot, intensely and erratically

that firefighters can't put these out.

It's not safe.

All they can do these days is try to steer them away

from life and property and wait for rain...

a strategy that may also be the new norm

with fires expected to only worsen in a hotter and drier California.

Kirk Siegler.

People call 911 when 'strange light' appears in California | news 24h - Duration: 11:39.

'The aliens are here': Arizona and California 911 centers are inundated with calls and celebrities go on a Twitter frenzy over 'spaceship-shaped light' in the sky - but it is just a Space X rocket

Residents of Southern California and Arizona were startled just after dusk on Friday when a strange white light which later turned out to be a SpaceX rocket launch appeared in the sky.

The streak of white light would create what turned out to be a fish-shaped pattern, prompting locals to speculate on social media as to what it was.

Local television stations as well as law enforcement agencies received a number of telephone calls from amazed witnesses who were eventually told that what they saw was a rocket launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base in central California.

One news report said that at least 130 people in just one part of Los Angeles County called 911 on Friday evening.

Initially, some people thought it may have been a UFO or the prelude to an alien invasion.

There was also talk of a possible nuclear strike by North Korea.

Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, quipped on Twitter that the object in the sky was a nuclear alien UFO from North Korea.

But it turns out it was the contrail from a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket as seen above from Pasadena, California.

Instagram user Ashley Benson uploaded this photo, writing: So this just happened while I was hiking.

The twilight effect from a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base carrying 10 Iridium voice and data relay satellites is shown in a view from US Highway 101 and Padaro Lane in Carpinteria, California on Friday.

The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is seen from El Sugundo, California.

This photo was taken by Twitter user Amanda Stiles.

In this photo provided by Javier Mendoza, the contrail from a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is seen from Long Beach, California.

Twitter user Leandro Perez snapped photos of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket as it appeared over Disneyland Park in Anaheim.

Falcon 9 is a family of two-stage-to-orbit medium lift launch vehicles, named for its use of nine first-stage engines.

This photograph released by SpaceX shows its Falcon 9 rocket before liftoff from Vandenberg Air Force Base on Friday.

The reused SpaceX rocket that was launched on Friday carried 10 satellites into space from California.

Earth is seen in the background after the rocket launched on Friday evening.

The rocket is seen from a camera that is attached to the vehicle after its launch from a base in central California.

he launch in the setting sun created a shining streak that was widely seen throughout Southern California and prompted puzzlement and even concern.

Cars pulled over on freeways so drivers could take pictures.

Initially, some people thought it may have been a UFO or the prelude to an alien invasion.

There was also talk of a possible nuclear strike by North Korea.

Footage of the rocket launch was captured by a viewer of KTLA-TV.

What the heck is this weird jellyfish thing going across the sky right now!?! tweeted actress Jenna Fischer of The Office fame.

Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, quipped on Twitter that the object in the sky was a nuclear alien UFO from North Korea.

Twitter users were having a ball with the sighting.

#SpaceX gotta give a better Public notice. I aint know if this was a Rocket, aliens, Santa Claus, or North Korea, tweeted one user. .

The reused SpaceX rocket that was launched on Friday carried 10 satellites into space from California.

The Falcon 9 booster lifted off from coastal Vandenberg Air Force Base shortly before 5:30 p.m. Friday. .

It carried the latest batch of satellites for Iridium Communications.

The same booster carried Iridium satellites into orbit in June.

That time, it landed on a platform in the Pacific. This time, the rocket plunged into the sea.

Its the final launch of 2017 for SpaceX, which has contracted to replace Iridiums system with 75 new satellites.

The Los Angeles Fire Department issued an advisory that the mysterious light in the sky was from the rocket launch.

Jimmy Golen, a sports writer for The Associated Press in Boston who was in Southern California for the holidays, said he and other tourists saw the long, glowing contrail while touring Warner Bros.

studio in the Los Angeles suburb of Burbank.

People were wondering if it had something to do with movies, or TV or a UFO, he said.

It was very cool.. The same rocket carried Iridium satellites into orbit in June.

That time, the first stage landed on a floating platform in the Pacific Ocean.

This time, the rocket was allowed to plunge into the sea.

It was the 18th and final launch of 2017 for SpaceX, which has contracted to replace Iridiums system with 75 updated satellites.

SpaceX has made four launches and expects to make several more to complete the job by mid-2018.

The satellites also carry payloads for global real-time aircraft tracking and a ship-tracking service.

Earlier this week, Musk revealed the giant rocket he hopes will take man to the moon and Mars.

Scheduled to blast off from Cape Canaveral on the same pad as the Saturn V Apollo 11 moon rocket on its first unmanned mission next month, Musk has boasted it will have double the thrust of the next largest rocket in use.

He also says it will carry his own Tesla Roadster, which will be sent flying towards Mars.

Musk also tweeted an incredible image of people next to a landed rocket to give an idea of the scale of themachines.

He said Falcon Heavy launching from same @NASA pad as the Saturn V Apollo 11 moon rocket.

It was 50% higher thrust with five F-1 engines at 7. 5M lb-F. I love that rocket so much.

He also confirmed the rocket will have a max thrust at lift-off is 5. 1 million pounds or 2300 metric tons, adding the first mission will run at 92%.

Falcon Heavy to launch next month from Apollo 11 pad at the Cape.

Will have double thrust of next largest rocket. Guaranteed to be exciting, one way or another, Musk originally posted.

The mission marks SpaceXs most ambitious project to date.

Musk founded SpaceX in 2002, with the aim of reducing space transportation costs and enabling the colonization of Mars.

The 46-year-old South African is also the CEO of Tesla, and predicts Falcon Heavys payload will stay in deep space for a while.

Although the public announcement shoots for next month, the date is not set in stone, with the ambitious CEO known for getting ahead of himself and periodically missing release dates.

Earlier last week SpaceX said it had delayed the launch of its giant Falcon Heavy rocket until 2018.

The firm said it was still on course to test the rocket in a static fire trial this year.
