North Korea warning: US must face facts and consider MILITARY action

has ramped up its nuclear and missile development over the past few months, sparking fears of World War 3.  President Donald Trump has pledged to "take care" of 's ruthless regime but has not yet succeeded.  Professor and former speechwriter Patrick Greenfield said the US must exhaust all diplomatic options before sparking a war on the hermit nation.

  Appearing on , Mr Granfield said: "I think in order to have diplomacy work you do need to have a credible threat of force.   .

"Even though we are in the season of hope and joy and peace, I think we do really need to think seriously – think hard about the prospect of what a military confrontation, of what military actions against North Korea would entail in 2018.  "And this is difficult because ever since North Korea got a nuclear capability back in 2006 in the Bush administration there's really been a lack of clarity about what the options are and about what we have to do.  "This is a year where we have to face the facts, we have to face the truth.

And what that will require is for us to exhaust all diplomatic options available." Mr Greenfield said it is "encouraging" that Rex Tillerson and Secretary of Defence Jim Mattis are "ratcheting up" the diplomatic pressure on North Korea.

In an effort to stop the rogue nation, the United Nations Security Council imposed tough new sanctions on North Korea after its continued missile testing.  The resolution seeks to ban nearly 90 percent of refined petroleum product exports to North Korea.

Following the UN vote, wrote on Twitter: "The United Nations Security Council just voted 15-0 in favour of additional Sanctions on North Korea.

The World wants Peace, not Death!" The North Korea foreign ministry responded to the UN sanctions and branded them an "act of war" and said: We define this sanctions resolution rigged up by the US and its followers as a grave infringement upon the sovereignty of our Republic, as an act of war violating peace and stability in the Korean peninsula and the region and categorically reject the resolution.

"North Koreas nuclear weapons are a self-defensive deterrence not in contradiction of international law.

We will further consolidate our self-defensive nuclear deterrence aimed at fundamentally eradicating the US nuclear threats, blackmail and hostile moves by establishing the practical balance of force with the US."  .

She has become a lady who lunches with all these women who have businesses.

Lohan recently resurfaced in New York in a rare public appearance with her mother Dina,

where she explained the appeal of living in Dubai to Entertainment Tonight.

"I love living in New York, but I do love the serenity and peace that I find living

in the Middle East because there are no cameras in Dubai and I can actually focus on what

I want to do in life," she said.

After a brief hiatus from acting, the former child star recently signed on for the second

And next week,... they're set to begin their first round of actual negotiations, something

the Trump administration has been saying it wants to do since the beginning.

down next Friday to begin negotiations over the amendment of the two countries' five-year-old

trade deal The first round of negotiations is set for

January 5th in Washington D.C. Korea's Ministry for Trade, Industry, and

Energy announced on Thursday that the revision is likely to be partial, as the U.S. hasn't

gone through all of the legal steps necessary for a full revision of the FTA.

In order to carry out a full revision of the trade deal, the U.S. would have had to follow

Trade Promotion Authority procedures such as stating its intentions to Congress ninety

days before the renegotiations begin.

The Trump administration wants to make amendments in multiple fields such as the automobile

and agro-livestock sectors in a bid to alleviate its goods trade deficit.

Seoul is seeking to protect sensitive sectors like agriculture while vying for what it calls

a 'mutually beneficial' deal.

The Korean government hasn't revealed what demands it'll make at the talks, but experts

say there are a few expected moves.

(ENGLISH) - "The Korean government seems to be interested

in weakening the Investor State Dispute Settlement - the ISDS - and weakening the conditions

to impose safeguards on American beef.

Some other cards that we can play are anti dumping."

Yet since Congress supports the U.S. anti dumping measures, the experts predict that

attacking the anti-dumping measures might be a somewhat dangerous move.

Korea's Trade Ministry in its report to the National Assembly last week, said that the

U.S. side is likely to request tariff adjustments to recover its trade imbalance.

The negotiations will be led by Korea's director general for FTA Negotiations Yoo Myung-hee

Foreign ministers of Russia and U.S. agree to not accept N. Korea as nuclear state - Duration: 1:47.

The United States and Russia have spoken with one voice on North Korea,... saying they will

not accept the regime as a nuclear power.

But the U.S. isn't interested in Moscow's offer to play the mediator between Washington

and Pyongyang.

Park Ji-won reports.

U.S. State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said Wednesday that top diplomats from

the U.S. and Russia have agreed that they will not recognize Pyongyang as a nuclear

power.

The agreement was made during a phone call the previous day,... with both sides expressing

concerns over the North's nuclear program.

The two countries' foreign ministers also agreed to work together to resolve the issue

through diplomatic channels.

However,... regarding Russia's offer to play the role of mediator to get the U.S. and North

Korea back to the negotiating table,... Washington, in effect,... turned down the proposal, saying

it quote "has the ability to communicate with North Korea through a variety of diplomatic

channels."

This is according to a Voice of America report, quoting a State Department official.

Previously, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson also said the U.S. has three to four direct

communication channels with the North Korean regime.

The U.S. stressed that Pyongyang needs to understand that there is a different path

that it can choose, although it is up to the regime to change its course.

Meanwhile, the U.S. also urged China to sever all economic ties with the North,... including

expelling all North Korean workers,... and to use its unique leverage over the North

to bring the regime back to the negotiation table.

SCARED? Trump orders 'discreet' military exercises as US fears North Korea retaliation

A senior member of the administration is reported to have said the US will be "more quiet" about drills with South Korea and Japan in a bid to defuse tensions with Kim Jong-un's totalitarian regime.

The decision from Trump's top team follows fears that another North Korea missile test could be about to take place. The state has warned the US it has nuclear weapons powerful enough to hit mainland America.

The US President had previously suggested it was a "waste of time" negotiating with the hermit country but is believed to have reconsidered following the threat of the regime.

Moscow is believed to have told the US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, that Washington's "aggressive rhetoric" towards North Korea had intensified tensions, and was unacceptable.

Russia has repeatedly called for talks to resolve the crisis, but this has been undermined by US president Donald Trump's "fire and fury" rhetoric.

Plans for the US to change its approach come just weeks after the US and South Korea said that they were considering suspending joint military drills in 2018 due to concerns that they may lead to action from North Korea.

The drills, called Key Resolve and Foal Eagle, are used as an exercise to prepare for a North Korea invasion, are due to take place between February 9 and 25.

There are concerns that the joint exercises could cause Kim Jong-un to launch a nuclear missile aimed at the South, who are hosting the Winter Olympics between 9 and 19 of February.

The South's Unification Minister, Cho Myoung-gyon, has expressed cautious optimism that the suspension of the drills could be used as an opportunity to reduce the tensions on the border and open up talks.

He said: "It is quite cautious to give projections, but there is a possibility that North Korea will focus on negotiations next year." In recent months Kim Jong-un has taken part in a war of words over the development of nuclear weapons by Pyongyang.

Trump has labelled his counter-part a "little rocket man" on a suicide mission" while the Korean dictator had called the US leader an "old lunatic".

Meanwhile, addressing South Korea's National Assembly in November Trump insisted that the US would "not be intimidated" by Kim Jong-un's rhetoric and called for other countries to respond to the "twisted regimes" threats with a sign of military force.

He used his speech to warn the "three largest aircraft carriers in the world are appropriately positioned to face Pyongyang.

But here's what we do know. Every morning this parking lot fills up with hundreds of

cars, the planes take off, and then in the evening the planes come back and the cars

leave. We know they have six Boeing 737's and five prop planes. We also know who owns

the planes. You can go right onto the FAA website, pop in the registration number of

one of the planes, and it'll tell you its owned by the US Air Force. But the US Air

Force doesn't operate these flights, and we're not 100% sure who does, at least nowadays.

There used to be a defense contractor called EG&G which played a central role in the development

of nuclear weapons They were the original operators of the gold coast terminal and JANET

Airlines and how do we know that? Because they posted a job listing. EG&G was acquired

by the Carlyle Group in 1999 which was acquired by the URS corporation in 2002 which was acquired

by AECOM in 2014, so as far as we know, AECOM currently operates the flights, but the real

question is where do they go. Most of the time, the planes take off from

Las Vegas airport and head north until they turn off their transponder and disappear from

trackers after about 15 minutes in the air. But what's telling is where they drop off,

because right here is Area 51—the place that, according to the US government doesn't

exist. Every sign would point to these JANET flights being the Area 51 employee shuttles

for personnel living in Las Vegas. The airspace around Area 51, known as Restricted Area 4808

North, is some of the most protected airspace in the world. Any unauthorized plane that

enters will be quickly met by fighter jets and likely shot down, but these planes regularly

go in and out with no problem. While we can only speculate that the planes

go to Area 51 based off where they drop of tracking, we know for certain that they also

go to the Tonopah Test Range. This site is where the US military develops and tests many

of its weapons and, while its still highly classified, the JANET planes that go here

don't turn off their transponder meaning that we know for certain that planes land

here. JANET planes have also been seen regularly

going to China Lake, a Navy research and development site, Plant 42, the site where the US Air

Force builds its planes, and Edwards Air Force Base, another site home to classified research

and development projects. What's really impressive about JANET is how little we know

about it despite it flying hundreds or even thousands of people per day. You can see these

airplanes in full sight when you land at Las Vegas Airport and yet we still can't say

with 100% certainty who or where these planes fly.

Trump's administration has uncovered a frightening, and deadly, fact: the Department of Veterans

Affairs has been letting its hospitals hire doctors and nurses with revoked medical licenses!

Apparently this has been happening for the past 15 years.

Clearly, and for good reason, it violates federal laws.

In direct contradiction to a 1999 law that bars any VA from hiring a healthcare worker

whose licenses had been revoked in any state, in 2002 the VA distributed guidelines that

allowed its hospitals to hire doctors and nurses that had a license in one of the 50

states, even if they had, previously, been subject to a license revocation.

A report by USA Today starts out, "Veteran patients in imminent danger at VA hospital

in D.C., investigation finds."Among the findings:

• In February 2016, a tray used in repairing jaw fractures was removed from the hospital

because of an outstanding invoice to a vendor.

• In April 2016, four prostate biopsies had to be canceled because there were no tools

to extract the tissue sample.

• In June 2016, the hospital found one of its surgeons had used expired equipment during

a procedure

• In March 2017, the facility found chemical strips used to verify equipment sterilization

had expired a month earlier, so tests performed on nearly 400 items were not reliable

Missal said that the practices have placed patients at "unnecessary risk," though

so far, the Office of Inspector General has not determined if patients were harmed.

"The OIG's work is continuing and will include an assessment of whether patient harm

has resulted from any of these inventory practices in its final report on the Medical Center,"

he wrote.

That report goes on to explain that the conditions at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical

Center in Washington, D.C., are so dangerous that the agency's chief watchdog group actually

put out a report alerting patients about the issues at that organization.

Apparently multiple issues were found at that location, such as lack of critical supplies,

including bone material needed for knee replacement surgeries and tubes needed for kidney dialysis,

due to an ineffective inventory system.

Worse, perhaps, than the lack of an effective system was the fact that the inspector general

found that senior VA leaders knew about the problems for months but did nothing to rectify

it.

In addition to this finding, the investigators reviewed 25 sterile storage areas and found

that 18 of them were dirty.

These types of reports from the inspector general are, in fact, not commonly made, with

the last one having occurred in January 2015.

The Washington V.A.'s medical director, Brian Hawkins, has since been relieved of

his position and placed on administrative leave.

In addition to the immediate danger posed by these issues, there is the larger issue

of whether or not a government-run healthcare system, as promoted by many liberals, would

be able to provide quality healthcare to U.S. citizens.

If this V.A. debacle is any indication, it most certainly would not.

NORTH Korea is feared to be on the verge of an imminent missile launch as the US has dispatched

one of its top spy planes.

Missile detector plane Cobra Plane is airborne as the world awaits to see if Kim Jong-un

will look to end 2017 with a bang.

Spy satellites have detected activity around North Korea allegedly linked to plans by the

rogue state to launch a "satellite".

Fears loom this could be just a cover-up for another missile test – and possibly even

Kim's most daring yet, a rocket fired into the Pacific.

Two public holidays in North Korea have passed unmarked by launches linked to the nuclear

programme despite warnings from experts.

Kim is reeling after new UN sanctions were slapped on him aiming to strangle the rogue

state and end its quest for ICBMs.

Cobra Ball is boasted to be "rapidly deployable" and operates on direct command of the US top

brass at the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Two US Air Force pilots crew the plane along with a navigator.

And behind the cockpit is a fuselage packed with seven engineers operating state of the

art detection systems.

The plane is tasked with observing missile flights and gathering data on the weapons.

She has a range of 3,900 miles and can fly over 500mph.

Experts have previously predicted the US would rather "watch" Kim's weapons than shoot

them down.

Allowing the missiles to fly before crashed down to Earth allows the US to gather key

intel on how far North Korea is from a fully operational ICBM.

Military-tracking feeds have revealed Cobra Ball is currently airborne – but have not

revealed its location.

Kim's next milestone in his nuclear programme will be to launch a missile out into the Pacific.

This will prove his missile's range, and make it clears North Korea's threats to

detonate a nuke over the ocean are serious.

Pyongyang's mission to explode a nuclear weapon over the Pacific is known as the dreaded

Juche Bird.

so this footage was filmed over Mexico City it in my opinion is some amazing

footage we've been seeing a lot of these strange lights all over the world

especially in North and South America as for what they could be I have no idea

Mexico has been a hot spot for UFO activity for a long time now and this

footage just goes to contest some of the truly strange occurrences that have been

going on there for a few decades in Mexico it is common knowledge that UFOs

exist and they are generally accepted there unlike in the United States where

most of the mainstream media and our government lie about the existence of

UFOs and attempt to make those who see and record them look like a bunch of

crazy people for believing in them well we have seen an overwhelming amount of

evidence on this channel pointing to their existence and saying that this is

a very, very real phenomenon the way the lights in this video changed shapes

indicates that there are multiple UFOs in this footage and it seems that

whenever people see these lights they always pull off some sort of

choreographed moves in the sky the closest thing that I could think to

compare these lights to is the Phoenix lights incident which was a group of

mysterious lights that occurred over Phoenix Arizona and Sonora Mexico in

1997 these lights were witnessed by thousands of people including the

governor of Arizona at the time Fife Symington the third originally the

governor had made a joke out of the sighting and upset thousands of people

that had seen these lights and were truly frightened by them and wanted

answers but he later came out and admitted to having seen the lights

himself and stated that he truly had no idea what they were and suspected that

they could be alien these lights certainly remind me a lot of them and if

of a UFO over Florida that I had seen along with some other Florida based UFO

sightings and I told you guys how UFO sightings in Florida have seriously been

ramping up. well I have another Florida sighting for you today and it is pretty

awesome it just goes to show that something strange is definitely going on

in the skies over Florida this case was reported to MUFON which took place

over Homestead Florida on November 17th of last month and was just reported

three days ago on December 23rd the case number will be down in the description

as always and there will actually be four separate

pieces of video footage that I will play for you all back to back now check out

this footage

now before I start talking about this sighting I'll read you the witness's

statement to MUFON the statement reads I saw three lights which at first sight I

thought were Chinese lanterns that quickly changed when they started going

in circles and emitting a flame like trail after about two minutes they flew

in the same direction but all very far from each other I also have a friend who

recorded similar lights about a month after his video was clearer than mine so

when I first started watching this footage I actually thought this thing

was a solid craft maybe even a tr3b Black Manta

but once the light started to move I realized that this was actually multiple

crafts at once I could tell from the pixelation that this video was authentic

but what it is that was filmed I have no idea there seems to be a rash of these

mysterious lights being spotted all over the world but mostly in the southern

United States and South America whatever this thing is the size and amount of

these things makes me doubt that they could be drones and there is obviously

no way that these were airplanes or helicopters considering the formations

and hovering if you guys maybe saw these lights or know what they are then drop a

comment. Your theories are welcome as well and please form your own opinions

as to what these lights could be based off of the evidence if you have footage

like this then again send us an email with the footage and a detailed

explanation of your sighting and we'll get back to you on it there are plenty

of sightings going on in the United States right now and it seems that UFO

sightings are actually at an all-time high this coming about after our

government started dropping bombshells on the media in terms of UFO footage

unknown UFO alloys being stored in a lab in Las Vegas and the ex-head of the

Pentagon's UFO research program up until 2012 claiming that UFOs have been proven

to exist beyond any reasonable doubt and are not from Earth this has many people

myself included wondering why they're all of a sudden dropping this info on us

after 70 plus years of lying to the public and there had been many theories

going around as to why the government has all of a sudden started giving us

all this information one is that they are prepping us for disclosure which is

honestly the one with the most positive outlook on it another one is that they

are prepping us for an incoming interstellar war which I pointed out in

my last video and is supported by the air force working on a space division

another one which also makes sense is that this is all a distraction to simply

take our attention away from them spending ridiculous amounts of taxpayer

dollars on black projects so they can continue to further their programs

without any backlash from the public well no matter what the reason is we

should definitely stay vigilant and keep our guards up we have gone over the

lies of our government time and time again on this channel and we all know

that they cannot be trusted and now is certainly not the time that we should

start I guess only time will tell as to what their reasons are but let's all hope

for the best I have one more sighting of these orbs to share with you guys and

this one comes from the city of Amman in Jordan it was also reported to MUFON and

the case number of course will be down in the description the witness took some

pictures of which you are looking at right now along with a short video

clip I'm not sure as to what these are but if anyone in Jordan saw this and

does know then please tell us down in the comments anyway here's the video

the witness did not write very much in her statement all she wrote was that I

was at home with my husband and we noticed the lights we were living in an

apartment on the third floor in Amman Jordan so not exactly a detailed account

but still strange nonetheless the amount of these strange lights being seen in

the skies lately is just crazy from what I can tell these things are

definitely not airplanes since they seem to just hover in one spot and they are

rather brightly lit so I don't believe that there are drones either definitely

a mysterious sighting and I'm not sure why but watching these lights in the sky

not only in this video but in both of the videos we showed makes me feel like

something ominous is going on that is just my feelings on it though so take it

how you want to and form your own opinion finally there is one last piece of

footage that I want to show you and this one comes courtesy of our friend Joey

Franko over at UFO HUNTER he filmed this over his house in Oklahoma also there's

been a lot of buzz lately about the f-18 fighter jet which filmed a thermal video

of a UFO well Joey seems to live in a UFO hotspot and the majority of the time

these crafts are cloaked so Joey started recording them in flir thermal similar to what

the f-18 used except not nearly as advanced we have shared Joey's videos in

the past on this channel but once I saw this one I knew I had to share it his

channel link and a link to his original video down in the description go check

him out he has amazing content and films these things all the time you guys

should definitely throw him a sub if you haven't already done so the parts of the

video that appear black are actually objects displaying heat which is how the

camera is able to record this UFO despite the fact that it's invisible

this is different than night vision or UV radiation it simply detects heat the

gray and white parts are areas with little to no heat now check out this

footage okay there's one right there hell we got one let's see if I can

contact it Okay I'm shining a laser at it come on change

which way it's going by using those ok it's just staying off out there for some

reason it seems like it's moving away now

know why it won't come but that is definitely one of them discs I've been

getting to come back here anyone getting ready to give up on this thing

it just won't come I don't know which ways on which ways not okay that's hard

it's still there it's coming back it came back okay it's

coming back I took it off there to look I had in it came back it's coming back

alright we made contact again man that thing was cruising by pretty fast and it

stopped again you know we made it in the Daily Star in the UK right with the

video just like this that's too bad Tyler didn't want to share my link I

mean oh woah there it goes man you see that move it just made this is hurting my arm I'm

trying to hold this camera so still it hurts I've got a bad shoulder

oh it hurts I'm gonna have to switch hands let's see if I can do this without

losing it oh god it hurts okay it's still there it's moving around

my neighbors out here see me with the laser out here shining it in the air so

so uh yeah what did you guys think of that footage I thought it was pretty good the

reason I love this footage so much is because of the amount of reference

points that it has the craft is just hovering there and we have a clear idea

of Joey's surroundings and the good idea as to just how high up this UFO is

this is clearly not a bird or a plane since there is no wings and neither of

those things are capable of hovering in one spot for extended periods of time

and a drone would not show up in the way that this thing does on the thermal

we need more footage like this it helps to rule out so many of the mundane

possibilities as to what it could be simply because of the camera that was

used and it is very cool to be able to see these crafts despite them cloaking

themselves I received footage quite a bit from

people pointing out crafts that are cloaked in the clouds which you can

occasionally see the shapes of Joey takes it to the next level and once

these crafts are caught on thermal there is no denying that there's definitely

something there we need to use these pieces of evidence to demand disclosure

I'm seriously happy watching this community of ours grow together we can

force the truth out of those that have lied to us for decades I'm sure of it

remember real power is people and if we work together then there's nothing that

we can't accomplish now there is one last thing that I want to tell you guys

about and that is that apparently NASA is planning to send a nuclear powered

drone to Saturn's moon Titan called Dragonfly in an attempt to explore it

from the air Dragonfly would fulfill its mission by hopping around on the surface

of Titan once an initial landing site is selected on Titan Dragonfly will land

there with the assistance of a 'chute Dragonfly will spend periods of time on

the ground where it will charge its batteries with its radioisotope

thermoelectric generator once charged it would then fly for hours at a time

traveling tens of kilometers during each flight Titans dense atmosphere and low

gravity compared to earth allow for this type of mission during these individual

flights potential landing sites would be identified for further scientific work

dragonfly will return to its initial landing site and only visit other sites

once they have been verified as safe dragonfly is being developed at the John

Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory and it has a preliminary design weight of

450 kilograms it's a double quadcopter design with four sets of dual rotors an

APL is Elizabeth turtle principal investigator for Dragonfly said Titan

is the only moon in our solar system with a dense atmosphere weather clouds

rain in liquid lakes and seas and those liquids are ethane and methane the

science objectives of Dragonfly's mission center around the prebiotic

organic chemistry and the habitability on Titan I thought this was pretty cool

considering NASA had originally planned to use a drone in their 2020 Rover

mission of Mars which had brought up a few questions for me particularly how a

helicopter would be able to fly on a planet with supposedly no oxygen or

atmosphere with the revealing of water on Mars on top of all the anomalies that

we have shown in the past on this channel I can't help but think NASA is

lying about the atmosphere at Mars something that particularly points this

out to me is the early images of Mars which showed Mars actually being blue

with what appeared to be some sort of atmosphere rather than red like you

normally see in modern NASA photographs from what we can tell it seems like they

put a red filter on every modern Mars photograph in an attempt to trick the

public into believing that Mars is dead and nothing more than a wasteland of

radiation if that were the case then I can't help but wonder how Mars still has

any water on its surface NASA did say that about 4 billion years ago Mars was

basically another earth with vast oceans and an atmosphere maybe it is possible

that Mars is now dead but the idea of sending a drone to it still brought many

questions with it at least for me if any of you guys have an answer for how the

drone would have been able to fly on Mars then please explain it to me from

my understanding it totally contradicts everything that I learned in my college

science classes although I am no expert on the subject I just find it

interesting so anyone that knows please do tell me because I really do want to

know I have a great interest in this stuff in the case of Titan though it's

an entirely different story Titan actually has an atmosphere so I

can totally understand how a drone would work there I have had an interest in

Titan for a while now and I actually don't think I've done a video on it it

is definitely a weird place and what you're looking at right now is a picture

of titans methane Lakes previous discoveries from NASA found that Titan

is covered in a rich organic chemical which is similar scientists believed to

the compounds that helped build life on Earth Titan also houses special

molecules which could allow organisms to survive and it's negative 290 degrees

Fahrenheit temperatures Elisabeth turtle also said that Titan has the ingredients

for life so yeah it is definitely an interesting world what is even more

interesting is just how many of these places there are in our own solar system

that are showing the potential to harbor life that's why I'm of the firm belief

that the entire universe is swarming with life and with all the evidence that

we have shown on this channel in other reputable channels it becomes very

apparent that we're being visited by extraterrestrial

life-forms possibly even for millions if not billions of years so yeah that's

something that you can chew on for a while if any of you guys have any more

information about these strange lights that I showed you earlier then please do

HARI SREENIVASAN: A cold wave kept the nation's Midwest and Northeast in the deep freeze today.

Windchill warnings and advisories stretched from North Dakota to New Hampshire, as arctic

winds dropped temperatures to 37 below zero in some places.

Officials warned of the risk of frostbite with less than 30 minutes of exposure, and

they went on alert.

In Syria, critically ill patients are finally being evacuated from a rebel-held area near

Hundreds of sick people in eastern Ghouta have been unable to get treatment at area

hospitals.

But now government troops are letting aid groups evacuate nearly 30 critically ill patients.

In return, the rebels want a like number of captive fighters released.

Also today, Russia declared the main battle with the Islamic State in Syria is now over.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the Syrian army and its allies must turn their focus

to hunting down the Nusra Front group, linked to al-Qaida.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin has officially registered to run for his fourth term as president.

In Moscow today, Putin handed in his papers in person to the nation's election commission.

Early polls show he's likely to be reelected in the March vote.

Opposition leader Alexei Navalny is urging a boycott of the election after he was banned

from running.

Today, he called for nationwide protests next month.
