John Stephen Jones claims another Texas state title in record fashion

Jerry Jones grandson went out in epic fashion Friday night, again leading his Dallas high school to a state championship while becoming the first quarterback to throw for more than 500 yards in a UIL Texas state title game.

But that was only icing on the cake for Highland Park senior John Stephen Jones in a 53-49 win over Manvel in the Class 5A Division I finale at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, the home of his grandfathers Dallas Cowboys.

We beat some great football teams to get here, and this was probably the best one tonight, Highland Park coach Randy Allen said, according to The Dallas Morning News.

John Stephen is a great competitor, and he kept telling everybody on the bench that weve just got to keep coming back..

Highland Park was down 49-39 with three minutes to play.

Jones, a 5-foot-10, 180-pounder who has received scholarship offers from Texas Tech, Arkansas and SMU, finished with 564 yards and four touchdowns on 37-of-58 passing, capping it with a thrilling 16-yard touchdown pass to Cade Saustad with 34 seconds left.

That play was only possible because of Jones 28-yard completion on fourth-and-15 from the Manvel 39-yard line.

I knew the corner was playing off and that I would have room inside.

Saustad said.The coaches gave me a slant.

I caught the slant, and I expected to get blown up.

I looked up, and it was a clear lane to the end zone, and I dove in.

Its a dream come true..

Highland Park left just enough time on the clock to give Manvel a chance for their own heroics.

Enter Under Armour All-American Jalen Preston.

Preston, a receiver committed to Texas A&M who ranks 62nd in the ESPN 300, took Manvel to the 1-yard-line with a 30-yard reception.

But he was tackled as the clock ran out.

It was the second state championship for Jones and Highland Park and the fifth overall for the school.

Jerry Jones greeted Manvel coach Kirk Martin after the game, offering him congratulations.

He just told me what a great job we did, Martin said, according to The Morning News.

One second and 1 yard short.

A decade after transforming Céline into the favored label of power women everywhere and beginning a new era of minimalism in fashion, Phoebe Philo, its artistic director, has announced she is leaving the house.

She is the fourth and best-known designer to exit a job this month, adding a final twist to 12 months of dizzying change for the industry on both the creative and corporate sides.

  Her first ad campaign famously did not include the heads of the models, ensuring the focus would be on the clothes and bags.

Philo, who was given to musing backstage about the allure of disappearing into the countryside, was long rumored to be restless in her job — though the brand and LVMH consistently denied there was any truth to the talk.

She had left Chloé in 2006 after five years as creative director and after the birth of her first child (she was the first high-profile designer ever to take an official extended maternity leave), and she was always ambivalent about re-entering the industry.

It took two years for Mr Arnault to convince her to come back, and in order to do so, he agreed to allow her to remain based in Britain, where her family lived, and commute to Paris as necessary, going so far as to create a satellite Céline atelier in London for her.

But when the Céline chief executive Marco Gobbetti left for Burberry earlier this year, and shortly thereafter Burberry's chief creative officer, Christopher Bailey, announced his resignation, speculation soared that Ms. Philo would replace him.

Citibank even issued an analysts' note supporting the idea. Though no indication was given as to Ms.

Philo's future plans, and she presumably has a noncompete clause in her contract that will prevent her from joining another brand immediately, her departure from Céline is sure to give renewed momentum to the suggestion. For the moment, Ms.

Philo joins an increasingly long list of enormously respected yet unemployed designers that includes Alber Elbaz (formerly of Lanvin), Hedi Slimane (ex-YSL), Riccardo Tisci (ex-Givenchy), Stefano Pilati (ex-Zegna) and Peter Copping (ex-Oscar de la Renta).

A replacement as artistic director at Céline was not named, meaning that speculation will now turn to who gets that job, and the whole increasingly messy game of musical chairs will continue into 2018.

the luxury group that owns Céline, said: "What Phoebe has accomplished over the past 10 years represents a key chapter in the history of Céline. We are very grateful to Phoebe for having contributed to the great momentum of this Maison.

A new era of development for Céline will now start, and I am extremely confident in the future success of this iconic Maison.

Philo, who first came to prominence as the designer at Chloé, made Céline matter in a way it never had before. LVMH acquired the house in 1996, naming Michael Kors designer the following year,.

and though he gave it a jolt of glossy jet-set relevance at the start, he left in 2004, and it quickly sank into confusion with a revolving door of designers.

Philo joined in 2008, Céline had ceased to be a real part of the fashion conversation.
