What would be very nice for IFDC to see
is very business savvy designers
that really get it.
That understand what this market has to offer
and come up with a strategy which we can buy into and say
Wow, we really love your strategy
and we want to get behind it because we think this is a winner.
It's important to develop the fashion schools in the region of GCC much further.
There is not enough of them, and the curriculum they carry is not enough.
The masterclass was awesome.
We learned alot, and more techniques.
The best of it, it made us aware about sustainability, which
we don't have that knowledge here in the area, unfortunately.
Sustainability is key to our brand.
It is an amazing thing to see that such a workshop
is done in Kuwait where we are lacking this awareness,
and we really need it!
I feel like future collaboration between IHI and other schools
would really enhance the knowledge we get as students,
and take us into a different level and to be more aware about what is happening in other
places of the world.
So this (workshop) is definately a posetive thing to happen.
It is very important to be engaged with other people in the industry
and find ways of collaborating as well.
I tend to work in isolation most of the time,
because of where I am geographically,
there is not much of a fashion industry where I live.
It is good to be part of these events
and meet other people and share our knowledge
you get so many ideas just by meeting people.
The collaborative spirit is us empowering each other
but the brands fundamentals are also alot more about empowering our region
and changing the way we are perceived.
I think doing it through fashion is a very strong way to do it.
People here wear dishdashas every day to work,
but they would never dare to do it in the States or in Europe.
Why is that?
Those are stereotypes that we need to break,
and I feel like we are on our way to doing so.
