with reporters at the White House and insisted that he would be willing to
declare a national emergency in order to build a border wall I may do it but we
could call a national emergency and build it very quickly and it's another

US VS China Trade War Truce - Who Benefits? - Duration: 6:07.
The answer might surprise you.
Two of Germany's largest car makers stand to be immediate
beneficiaries of a reduction in trade tension between the U.S. and China.
Currently,
America's automakers export more of their cars to China than it imports from that market,
BMW AG
and Daimler AG lead the way with their American-made cars.
Over the years,
both companies have invested heavily in the U.S. to build factories that supply not only American drivers
but also the export markets,
including China.
In 2017
U.S. manufacturers exported almost 270,000 passenger cars worth $9.5 billion to China,
but only imported 58,000 vehicles worth $1.5 billion from the world's largest car market.
Of the units exported to China by U.S. car manufacturers,
BMW and Daimler accounted for 67% of the total.
Ford was third,
exporting nearly 45,000 cars to customers in China.
While the $8.0 billion trade surplus that the U.S. enjoys with China
in autos is a small portion of its overall trade deficit with the country,
autos are big-ticket items that create high paying jobs.
BMW first came to the U.S. in 1975 when it established BMW North America in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey.
In 1994,
BMW opened its first full manufacturing facility outside
Germany and its first U.S. production facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Since opening the plant,
BMW has invested over $9 billion in the 1,150-acre,
7 million square-foot campus that now employs more than 10,000 people.
In 2017,
BMW exported over 270,000 X3,
X4,
X5,
and X6 models,
more than 70% of Spartanburg's total production volume of 370,000 units,
making BMW the largest U.S. exporter of vehicles.
In 2017,
BMW also leads the way in auto exports to China,
sending over 100,000 units to Chinese customers from Spartanburg.
The second largest U.S. exporter of passenger cars to China in 2017 was Mercedes Benz USA
("MBUSA")
a unit of Daimler,
which exported over 72,000 Mercedes-Benz GL,
GLE,
GLS,
and R-Class models.
Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia,
MBUSA
also has a long history in the United States.
The company was formally established in 1965
but began selling Mercedes-Benz vehicles in America as early as 1952.
MBUSA first established its U.S. manufacturing operations in 1995
when it opened a factory in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.
With production of more than 310,000 vehicles,
the Tuscaloosa facility is now the worldwide production location for the GLE,
GLS and GLE Coupe SUVs,
as well as for the C-Class sedan for North America.
Since its opening,
MBUSA
has invested more than $6 billion in Tuscaloosa
and now employs more than 3,700 and supports over 10,000 jobs at suppliers
and service providers throughout the region.
In April of 2018,
MBUSA announced an additional $1 billion investment in its Alabama plant.
Because the luxury vehicles produced by BMW and MBUSA are big-ticket items,
tariffs are an important consideration as the two companies develop their global supply chain strategies.
Generally,
auto companies prefer to produce their car models in the markets where they are actually sold,
which is why both BMW and Daimler have established assembly plants in China.
In addition to tariffs and being close to the consumer,
however,
plant utilization,
economic factors,
and customer preferences are also important considerations.
For example,
foreign ownership of Chinese assembly operations has been limited to 50% until recently.
While this restriction will go by the wayside in 2022,
international car companies need to take into account the fact that profits
from cars made in a joint venture are shared with their Chinese joint venture partner.
Also,
Chinese customers often prefer,
and will pay a premium,
for products that have the "Made In USA" label,
even though the same product may be available from a Chinese joint venture.
This is particularly the case with luxury automobiles.
When exporting cars to China,
an import duty,
a Value Added Tax
("VAT")
of 16%,
and a Consumption Tax of between 1 and 40%,
depending upon the size of the engine,
are added to the price of the vehicle.
It should be noted that cars made and sold in China are also subject to the VAT and Consumption Tax.
Up until July 1, 2018,
when China reduced the tariff on car imports to 15%,
vehicles imported into China were subject to a 25% import duty.
However,
when President Trump increased the tariff on cars imported from China into the U.S. from 2.5% to 27.5% on July 6,
President Xi of China raised the tariff on car from the U.S. from 15% to 40%.
As a result of the 90-day truce agreed upon by the leaders of world's two largest economies
after their recent meeting in Argentina,
China announced over the weekend that it would reduce the tariffs on cars imported from the U.S. to 15%
during the 90-day period ending March 31, 2019.
BMW and MBUSA reacted immediately to China's announcement.
On Saturday,
BMW announced 4% price cuts for models,
including the X5 sport utility vehicle,
imported from its U.S. plant.
While the trade war between the U.S. and China is creating near term uncertainty with companies and consumers alike,
the long-term impact may be positive if the truce is followed by a more lasting compromise.
To the extent that tariffs on autos sold to China remain at 15%,
and are perhaps reduced even further,
ompanies like BMW and Daimler with global supply chains will be major beneficiaries.

WW3: US on ALERT - China REVEALS 'Mother of All Bombs' that could OBLITERATE US defences - DAILYNEWS - Duration: 2:39.
WW3: US on ALERT - China REVEALS 'Mother of All Bombs' that could OBLITERATE US defences
CHINA has put US officials on military alert after testing a so-called 'Mother of All
Bombs' that could "completely obliterate" fortified defences in the West.
China has revealed shocking footage of the test launch of one of the world's most powerful
bombs - putting US security officials on edge.
China's defence industry giant NORINCO released a video of the country's largest non-nuclear
bomb - a rival to the US-built 'Mother of All Bombs'.
The footage is the world's first glimpse of the devastating weapon that could wipe
out US defences.
The destruction potential of the bomb is second only to nuclear weapons.
In the military footage, the bomb was airdropped by a supersonic H-6K bomber and caused a gigantic
explosion
The test launch shows the massive bomb drops onto an unknown plain before producing a gigantic
ball of fire and black smoke.
The bomb is suspected to be a response to the US' GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast
(MOAB) weapon, more commonly known as the "Mother of All Bombs".
No details on the date, location or range of the bomb blast were provided.
The US deployed the MOAB weapon in Afghanistan in 2017 on suspected ISIS targets.
The Chinese weapon is smaller and lighter than its American counterpart.
Beijing-based military analyst Wei Dongxu said the bomb looked like it was approximately
five to six meters long.
Mr Dongxu said: "The massive blast can easily and completely wipe out fortified ground targets
such as reinforced buildings, bastions and defence shelters.
"The US bomb is so large that it has to be carried by a larger transport aircraft rather
than a bomber."
The Chinese analyst warned that this meant China had an advantage over the US in military
force.
He also claimed that the bomb could be used to clear a landing zone for troops on helicopters
to rappel down, in case the area is covered by obstacles such as forests.
There are growing concerns of an escalating arms race amid a deadlocked trade war between
the US and China.

US man charged with spying could be exchanged for Russian agent - Duration: 4:32.
Alawyer for an American arrested in Moscow on spying charges says his mission is to bring home a 'Russian soul,' in an exchange deal
Paul Whelan, 48, an ex-US marine, was formally charged with espionage in Moscow on Thursday on allegations he procured a memory stick with a secret list of Russian agents
Russian and human rights experts say that Whelan's lawyer, Vladimir Zherebenkov, was likely picked out by the FSB who arrested him
Zherebenkov, a former Soviet investigator, told the Daily Beast it was his aim to bring home 'at least one Russian soul
' It is believed the Russians are angling for an exchange deal with Maria Butina, 29, who was jailed last month after pleading to guilty as an agent to influence conservative groups, particularly the gun-rights movement, in the United States
Prosecutors in the US said Butina had tried to orchestrate a line of communication between Republican officials and the Kremlin during the 2016 presidential election campaign
Zherebenkov told the Daily Beast he has no experience in defending foreign nationals accused of spying but was pleased to accept the 'interesting, high profile' brief
Daniel Hoffman, a former CIA Moscow station chief, said it was 'possible, even likely' that Putin had ordered Whelan's arrest to set up an exchange for Butina
Russia says Butina was forced to make a false confession about being a their spy.The Kremlin did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Whelan's detention
Whelan, who has dual British-American citizenship, is being held in the notorious Lefortovo jail, a former KGB prison in the Russian capital
He was accosted at the Metropol hotel, an historic art nouveau building two miles from the Kremlin
The American Embassy in the Russian capital informed British officials of his arrest and British citizenship
He was born in Canada to British couple, Edward and Rosemary Whelan.Whelan's family say he was visiting Moscow for the wedding of a retired Marine and is innocent of the espionage charges against him
US Special Counsel Robert Mueller has charged 25 Russians - including members of the GRU military intelligence service - and three Russian companies for alleged interference in the 2016 presidential election, but they have not been arrested
Putin told Trump in a letter on Sunday that Moscow was ready for dialogue on a 'wide-ranging agenda,' the Kremlin said, after a series of attempts to schedule a meeting between the leaders
At the end of November, Trump abruptly cancelled a planned meeting with Putin on the sidelines of a G20 summit in Argentina, citing tensions about Russian forces opening fire on Ukrainian navy boats and then seizing them

Lexus Still Has Seven Brand-New LFAs Available In The U.S. - Duration: 2:25.
Production of the Lexus LFA ended in December 2012, and while IT is often cited as one of the best supercars of the past decade, the Japanese brand had a hard time selling all 500 it manufactured
As a matter of fact, Lexus has sold five new LFAs in the United States in the past two years and still has a handful it's looking to offload
A document released by Toyota in North America detailing sales figures for December 2018 and all of last year confirms that two LFAs were sold in 2018 and three in 2017
Approximately 18 months ago, Lexus confirmed that U.S.dealerships still had 12 LFAs in stock
So, if we subtract those that were sold, the inventory is down to seven examples. It's still not too late to pick up a new LFA
When the Lexus LFA originally landed on U.S.shores, it had an eye-watering price tag of $450,000
Select used examples in the U.S.are now trading hands for around $350,000, while some dealerships are asking more than $500,000 for pristine examples
While the LFA endured a lengthy gestation period before finally entering production, it was well received by critics and customers when it did finally launch in 2011
Not only was it loaded with technology, but it also featured one of the most remarkable, and best-sounding, engines ever in a production car
This engine is a rev-happy 4.8-liter naturally-aspirated V10 that delivers 552 hp and 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) of torque to the rear wheels thanks to a semi-automatic transmission
It revs so fast that an analogue rev counter couldn't keep up, so they devised a digital one, and that V10 delivers a howl that is music to any petrolhead's ears

Publish your research | Are journals better in the US or UK than in other countries? - Duration: 3:22.
Greetings, this is Emily, and I'd like to welcome you to this uni-edit video.
Are journals in the United States better than in the United Kingdom or other
countries? General Overview
The quality of academic journals does not tend to be geographically biased;
however, major publishing companies that publish the majority of academic journal
content are usually located in the United States or in the United Kingdom.
Therefore, top-tier journals with high impact factors and wide readership will
more often originate from either of these regions. Other journals that are
not for profit, and hence not associated with major publishing companies, can be
located anywhere. These journals may still target a wide international
audience. Therefore, the quality of these journals is no less than that tied to
major publishing companies. Practical Example for Life Sciences
Within the life sciences, many international top-tier journals are
based in the United States or United Kingdom. Sometimes a particular theory or
discovery does not have its full potential realized by the scientific
community at the time of publication. This can result in influential papers in
the field being published in mid-tier rather than top-tier journals, where one
might expect them to be published. As a result, influential papers can be
published in local, non United States or non United Kingdom journals rather than
international journals. Therefore, depending on the significance of the
paper, and its acceptance in the scientific community at the time of
publication, journals from countries other than the United States or United
Kingdom where the majority of journals originate can make a significant impact
on science. These papers are usually 20 to 30 years old as they need the time to
gain acceptance and grow in their impact.
Practical Example for Mathematics
Mathematic journals come from many countries including the United States,
the United Kingdom, France, Sweden, Germany, and Switzerland are of high quality and
impact. There are many proposed rankings of mathematics journals, and you can
search these on the Internet. However, for highly specific mathematical
papers it is more important to reach your target audience than to reach a
larger but more general audience. As such, don't let the country of the journal
determine whether it's the right journal for your paper.

2020 Hyundai Santa Fe Diesel And Seven-Seat Models Cancelled From U.S. Lineup - Duration: 2:15.
When Hyundai announced the all-new 2019 Santa Fe for the United States, the headlines were all about the SUV becoming the brand's first model to feature a diesel engine
The carmaker initially planned to offer a 2.2-liter diesel engine as an option for the 2020 model year
Fast forward to late 2018 and it appears that Hyundai's strategy changed dramatically
Hyundai spokesman, Brandon Ramirez, told Green Car Reports that the diesel-powered Santa Fe won't be coming to the U.S.after all.
According to the representative, Hyundai canceled the power plant as studies indicated the buyers' reluctance to have a turbo diesel engine in a crossover
The current low gas prices and the advent of electrification probably didn't help the Santa Fe Diesel's case either
The move follows a similar decision from Kia earlier this year to cancel the 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine for the Sorento
An indirect result of that decision is the Santa Fe won't offer a three-row version either, Ramirez confirmed
That's because the seven-seat Santa Fe was initially planned to be offered exclusively with the diesel engine
In the future, customers will need to step up to the 2020 Palisade if they want a three-row SUV from Hyundai — the current 2019 Santa Fe XL is based on the previous-generation model and will be replaced by the Palisade for 2020
With no diesel-powered Santa Fe on the horizon, Hyundai might offer a plug-in hybrid version in the future
The only major carmakers that currently offer diesel-powered SUVs and crossovers in the United States are Chevrolet, GMC, Jeep, and Land Rover
