Gravity keeps us grounded.

It keeps the planets in orbit around the sun.

It keeps the moon in orbit around us.

But what would the universe be like if there were no gravity at all?

That's exactly what we're going to talk about, right now on life's biggest questions.

Hello and welcome back to LBQ, I'm charlotte dobre.

Don't forget to give this video a thumbs up, subscribe and ask us a question in the

comments below.

Firstly, lets define gravity so we're all on the same page here.

Gravity is a force between any two atoms that causes them to attract.

Gravity is everywhere.

If you put two marbles on a plate, the marbles will have a slight gravitational attraction

to each others.

The bigger the objects, the easier it is to physically measure the gravitational pull

between them.

You can measure the pull between two huge pieces of lead for example, using very precise

instruments.

And of course, when you have a collosal amount of atoms clumpted together, like, oh, lets

say, planet earth, the gravitational attraction is significant enough that entire celestial

bodies like a moon will get pulled in.

The universe, despite being very vast, is very delicate.

If you change just one thing that has to do with physics, the entire universe would be

affected.

Lets consider just for the next few minutes, what would the universe be like if there was

no force of gravity.

According to James Overduin, a Towson university physicist, a universe without gravity would

be completely flat and featureless.

Gravity is essentially the curvature of space time.

Here's an analogy.

Picture a bowling ball on a trampoline.

The bowling ball represents matter and energy, and the trampoline represents the fabric of

space time.

The bowling ball obviously causes the trampoline to curve.

If gravity didn't exist, that would mean there is no curvature of space time, which

would then mean that matter and energy doesn't exist to cause that curvature.

So basically the stars, planets, moons, comets, asteroids, and life, would not exist.

Alright so since that's out of the way, just for fun, lets imagine, what if gravity

was suddenly switched off?

What would happen to us, to our planet, and to the universe.

In places where there is no gravity, like in space, a lack of gravity has a profound

effect on our bodies.

Astronauts who spend time living in space experience a loss of bone and muscle mass.

Astronauts also experience a loss of balance.

But gravity also affects things like our blood cells.

Its not entirely certain why, but our red blood cell count falls in an absence of gravity.

This causes something called space anemia, which brings on a weakened immune system and

even wounds take longer to heal.

Its also incredibly hard to sleep with no gravity.

So that's what happens when you visit space.

How about if you were born in a place with no gravity?

Well, this has never been studied, no one has ever been born and grown up in space.

But experts believe that we would develop differenty without gravity.

Our vital organs like our heart, lungs, brain and muscles would form in different ways.

Truthfully though, if gravity was suddenly switched off, you would simply fly into space.

Anything that wasn't attached to the earth would begin to fly off into space.

If you were outside on the street, you would begin floating up into space until you were

in the upper atmosphere and likely die from a lack of oxygen or extreme cold.

But its not just people and animals that would float away, anything in the atmosphere, our

oceans, river and lakes would quickly be lost.

Our moon would start floating away too.

Lets not forget that earth is broken up into tectonic plates.

Without gravity, pieces of the earth would break off.

Oh and the sun!

Lets not forget about the sun.

Without gravity to hold the sun together, the sun would basically explode engulfing

everything.

Essentially, we would all die.

Everything made up of matter and energy would simply float around, nothing would clump together

anymore.

The universe would be like a gigantic soup of atoms.

I guess it's a good thing gravity exists then hey?

Police officer hailed as 'American hero' who was slain by an illegal immigrant is laid to rest - Duration: 12:05.

Police officer hailed as 'American hero' who was slain by an illegal immigrant is laid to rest

A California police officer who was killed in the line of duty was hailed Saturday as a 'Fiji-born American hero' who made the ultimate sacrifice for his adopted country.

At a funeral held for Cpl. Ronil Singh, mourners remembered the 33-year-old officer as a hard-working immigrant who worked his way up to become an officer in the small town of Newman.

He 'stood so much for what is right in our world and yet unfortunately was taken too soon from us by what is wrong in our world,' Modesto police Officer Jeff Harmon said at the service in a Modesto church.

He 'probably more than anything else wanted to be home on Christmas night with his wife and his young son, but instead made a selfless choice to serve all of his community knowing that there are many more than just his own family that needed his protection that night,' he added.

Singh was shot dead in the early hours of December 26 after he pulled over a suspected drunk driver.

The gunman fled, and a two-day-long manhunt led to the arrest of a man who authorities said was in the country illegally and was preparing to flee to Mexico. Gustavo Arriaga Perez, also 33, has since been charged with murder.

The case has rekindled a debate over California's sanctuary law that limits cooperation by local authorities with federal immigration authorities.

President Donald Trump has cited Singh's killing to call for tougher border security amid a fight with congressional Democrats over funding for a border wall. The impasse has forced a partial government shutdown that entered a 15th day Saturday.

At his funeral, however, Singh's brother and colleagues focused on his achievements and playful personality. Singh grew up in a Fijian farming town and emigrated to central California in 2003.

He joined the 12-member Newman police department in 2011 after attending police academy and serving as a volunteer, animal control officer and code enforcement officer at other agencies in the region.

'He told me he came to this country with one purpose, and that purpose was to become a police officer,' Newman Police Chief Randy Richardson said.

'He told me about all the pride he had in America, and how much it meant to get this opportunity. Singh served as a K-9 officer before being promoted to a corporal at the Newman police department.

He earned a bachelor degree in administration of justice two years ago with the goal of becoming a sergeant, said his friend, Modesto police Detective Ra Pouv.

'Ronil and I are both immigrants to a country we truly love, and we both view serving our country and community through law enforcement as important to who we are,' said Pouv, who is from Cambodia.

'It is our way of giving back to a country that embraced us and our family. The Fijian ambassador to the United States, Naivakarurubalavu Solo Mara, said Singh made his mark in his adopted country and called him a 'Fiji-born American hero.

Singh's widow was at the funeral but did not address mourners; his 5-month-old son could be heard cooing during the service.

A slideshow shown during the service featured photos of the smiling officer posing for Christmas photos with his family, working with his colleagues and cuddling Sam, his black Labrador K-9 dog.

On Friday, his casket was draped in an American flag and driven about 25 miles in a procession from Modesto into a theater in the small town of Newman for a viewing.

People lined up along the streets to honor the fallen officer. After Saturday's funeral, Singh's body was taken on a procession to its final resting place at Lakewood Memorial Park in the nearby town of Hughson.

Seven other people have also been arrested for helping Arriaga evade police capture. They include Perez Arriaga's brothers, 25-year-old Adrian Virgen and 34-year-old Conrado Virgen Mendoza; his girlfriend, 30-year-old Ana Leyde Cervantes; and a co-worker, 27-year-old Erik Razo Quiroz, authorities said.

Three people were arrested at the home near Bakersfield.

Hundreds of police officers and well-wishers gathered to bid farewell to Cpl. Ronil Singh, 33, the Modesto, California police officer who was shot by an illegal immigrant during a traffic stop on December 26.

Singh was hailed as a 'Fiji-born American hero' who 'stood so much for what is right in our world'.

Gustavo Arriaga Perez, also 33, has since been charged with murder. He was allegedly driving drunk when he was pulled over by Singh on the morning after Christmas.

'It was really heartbreaking': 40-year New Year's Eve tradition spoiled by shutdown - Duration: 5:50.

It was set to be one of the biggest New Year's Eve gatherings for the Coffmans: a trip with more than 30 family members to Furnace Creek Campground in Death Valley, California to commemorate a 40-year-long tradition

So, on the appointed night in June when the National Park Service was scheduled to post campground reservations for New Year's Eve on its website, Robert Coffman and his extended family were ready at their computers at 12:01 a

m. to book enough spaces for those who planned to attend. "Everyone had first, second and third choices that didn't overlap with anybody else's first choices," said Robert's daughter, Dena Coffman

"It was a whole operation" with family from Minnesota, Oregon and Northern California all in

They had even made t-shirts for the occasion. But when the government partially shut down right before the holidays, all reservations at Furnace Creek Campground were canceled by the National Park Service

According to the department's website, at the time of the Coffmans' visit, campgrounds were available on a "first come-first serve" basis and refunds would be issued for canceled reservations

The page was later updated to say that Furnace Creek Campground was completely closed

The restrooms would be closed. Trash wouldn't be collected. And few park rangers would be on duty

"The uncertainty of not knowing if they would have some place to camp kind of put people off," Dena Coffman said of her family's reaction

, who back in 1979 kicked off the original trip with his brother Roger and cousins, Mike and Robert, at Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California, opted not to go on the big family excursion this year

"It was really difficult for us living up in Southern Oregon to get information on what exactly was going to be going on at the park," he said, adding that when he and his wife called the reservation desk, they "had no idea what was going on" with reservations made before the shutdown

"There's no point in driving 800 miles or further to have to turn around and come back," he said

"We just decided it wasn't going to be worth going if we weren't going to be with the whole family group

" Ultimately, only seven people ended up going - Robert Coffman, his wife Vicki, daughter Dena and her boyfriend, Dena's sister and Robert's sister and her husband

Instead of camping, they stayed at the Ranch at Furnace Creek, where they had protectively booked a few rooms just in case it was too cold

"It was really heartbreaking," Robert said. The cousins fondly remember that first trip years ago to Joshua Tree, a trek that they almost called off at the last minute

There was snow on the ground, but they "decided to tough it out that first night," Robert Coffman said

"Although it was rather cold, it was very beautiful," he said. The four young men decided it "was so successful" that they would make it a yearly thing, trying to recruit more cousins each trip

"It ebbed and flowed a little bit over the years," he said of the turnout. "But nevertheless we were always able to maintain… a presence of such in some ways over the last 40 years

" Though some family members said, "I've had it," after this year's trip derailment, both Dennis and Robert Coffman were confident the tradition would continue

"Everybody comes that can. Everybody's invited. Everybody's encouraged," said. "It keeps all the cousins and relatives pretty much as best friends

" "We'll be able to put something together next year," Robert Coffman said.

What Was The Great Economic Depression of 1929? How did it happen? - Duration: 4:19.

Tumbling Down of the Economic Base - The Great Depression of 1929

In the current day, the US Dollar to Indian rupees conversion rate creates an impression

that the stable and growing economic system in the United States is invincible and can

never get affected even if the global market is facing a blow.

However, if we look back into the past century, to be particular in the late 1920s, we cannot

really come to the conclusion that the US Economy is perfect and invincible.

This major event in history is known as the Great Depression.

Before delving deep, it is important to know what really happened which led to this mishap

in the history of the United States.

After the end of the First World War, the United States emerged as the victorious and

at the beginning of the 1920s, there was a rapid industrial growth in the United States

followed by the invention of several new electronic gadgets.

This boosted the rate of employment and the salaries were also pretty high.

People were having a good amount of money to invest in the banks and they also started

investing in the stock market as the returns were lucrative.

Stock market becomes so popular that people started to take a loan from banks to invest

in the stock market.

From 1922 to 1929, the investments were up by 218% which never happened before.

Everything was going great so far but life in the US dreamland was soon to be tumbling

down.

The companies overestimated their growth by seeing the buying power of the market and

started to produce more.

However, the people were investing more and were not buying many things, which was followed

by inflation.

Inflation is never good for any market.

The wages started to fall down, many people lost their jobs.

People who were taking debts from the banks now had to pay higher interest rates.

The series of negative events reached its peak on October 24, 1929, which was called

The Black Thursday as this marked the beginning of the Great Depression.

The prices of the stocks fell down heavily and people started to sell out their stocks

as soon as the market opened the next day and on 29th of October a record-breaking 16.4

Million shares were sold and the market lost around 15 Billion Dollars on that single day

which highly affected the economy of the country.

The market value of dollar became almost nothing as people started making kites out of the

dollar bills.

Unemployment reached its highest in the history of the United States as almost 25% of the

people were out of jobs.

It can be said that the Great Depression was the worst economic turndown in the 20th Century.

However, it was not only that the United States was affected by this depression but due to

rapid globalization, there was a huge impact in the markets of the entire world.

The stock prices fell down severely.

On the negative side, it led to the rise of Hitler and his Third Reich.

Losing faith in the other powers, the people in Germany were convinced that Hitler was

their supreme leader and the Nazi party became stronger, ultimately leading to the war in

1939.

However, this war was a boon in disguise as it created job opportunities in the US, especially

in the military and the ammunition industry.

By the time of the end of the war, the market in the United States was becoming stable and

things were getting normal.

The then president of the US, Franklin D. Roosevelt created a Security Exchange Commission

and also an insurance corporation to ensure that this event is never repeated in the future.

This event of the Great Depression might not happen in the United States ever again but

has taught a significant lesson to all of us that no one is invincible.

✅ Breaking News - Watford face man who was head-hunted by a voice of authority - Duration: 3:50.

Kretzschmar wants to use Sunday's tie to help his bid to return to league football The ex-Wycombe player impressed and went with Tyler to Woking last summer Max Kretzschmar is a part-time student but lines-up against Watford on Sunday Woking's Max Kretzschmar thought he recognised the voice when, out of contract and planning his next move in football, he picked up a message on his phone two summers ago

'I missed the name but it sounded familiar, then it turned out to be Martin Tyler asking if I might be interested in joining Hampton and Richmond,' recalls the 25-year-old midfielder, local to that area

So began the chain of events that leads him to Sunday's FA Cup third round against Watford

The venerable football commentator was acting in his other role as long-time managerial assistant to Alan Dowson, with whom he now works at Woking, the sixth-tier Surrey team taking on Premier League opposition this afternoon

When they moved on there after taking Hampton and Richmond to the National League South play-offs, Kretzschmar was one of five players they took with them

On Sunday the part-time sports journalism student and football coach lines up against the cosmopolitan millionaires of Watford as one of the brains trust among Woking's squad of part-timers

This includes skipper Greg Casey, who fits in the sport around working as a tax specialist accountant in London

Winger Paul Hodges is an English teacher in Staines. Kretzschmar notched an impressive collection of As and A-stars in his GCSEs at the prestigious independent Hampton School in Middlesex

Among its alumni are rowing gold medallists the Searle brothers while he was two years below budding England cricketer Zafar Ansari

Kretzschmar was determined to make his mark in football, having spent five years at Southampton's famed academy alongside many future stars

He left at 16 to take up a two-year contract that had been offered to him by Wycombe

His path has not been quite the same as Manchester United's Luke Shaw, who also hails from the Molseley area of Surrey, with whom he did countless lift shares down to Southampton

Kretzschmar, one of Woking's best players this season and their leading scorer, has thrived under Dowson, a plain-speaking Geordie

Dowson forms a management triumvirate with Ian Dyer and Tyler, who combines his day job as one of the game's most distinguished commentators with coaching alongside Dowson

Kretzschmar longs for a return to league football and sees the attention on Sunday's high-profile game as an opportunity to further his case

'This tie a great chance for us to show what we can do, but we should not really be in this league (National South) and the most important thing is to get out of it,' he said

There are plans for a new 10,000-seat stadium in the borough built to Football League standards, meaning that Sunday's encounter, which will see homely Kingfield Road packed to the gunwales, could be the last great cup occasion staged there

What if there was no Monetary System? - Duration: 3:46.

Tables Turned - A World Without The Monetary System

If you ask anyone, from any background or any country that what is their purpose of

living, I bet earning money would be one of them.

Earning money is one of the basic tasks that we have been taught since our childhood.

All the education, learning all the values are the means, earning money is the end for

all of us as it is money that makes all the difference in our lives.

It is the prime medium of exchange in our society and has been a very well accepted

system of exchange in most parts of the world.

But what if you wake up tomorrow to see that there is no currency system?

How would the world look like if money is no more a means of exchange?

The primary idea that would come to our mind is that we will gradually get back to the

barter system which was prevalent thousands of years ago.

Barter system refers to the exchange of goods and services for goods and services.

For example, exchanging a chair for a sheep.

This kind of exchange still exists in different parts of the world like in villages of Venezuela,

in parts of Australia among the aboriginals and also in parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands

in India.

However, it would surely create lots of confusion in society.

If we delve deeper we will see a completely different world.

In a world where currency exists, it can be noticed that the Eight richest men in India

possess wealth equivalent to half of the population of the world.

Hence, in a world where there is no currency there cannot be any such distinction between

the rich and the poor.

Moreover, every day we won't have to check the value of our currency to the other currencies

of the world.

We could say that the world will become one nation.

The concept of superiority and subordination will completely eradicate.

The countries which can produce more will have more value because they would have more

goods for exchange.

Hence, the countries with more population would benefit here.

It must be noted that the world without money would not be an advanced civilization as everyone

will do everything on their own.

However, people would surely become self-sufficient.

There is another probability which must be noted.

With the eradication of the currency system, the concept of cryptocurrency will come to

the front seat.

This alternate form of currency or digital currency came into use in the name of Bitcoin

in 2009 which is regarded as a form of digital asset.

Hence, the idea of e-cash will surely come into the focus here.

Bitcoin is such a form of currency which is not controlled by the government of any country

and hence has the same value universally.

So, we can surely predict the dominance of cryptocurrency in this new world where good

old money has no value.

Hence, there are many possibilities that might happen if there was no currency system in

the world.

Something is for sure that the power structure of the world would be affected by this change

in the economic system.

Several new institutions will come up with several alternatives which will try to serve

the purpose of exchange.

The table would be surely turned.
