Washington is reportedly searching for a venue for the 2nd North Korea-U.S. summit, that's

expected to take place sometime this month or the next.

CNN, citing two sources familiar with the organization, reported earlier this week that

teams had been sent to multiple locations during the last few weeks of 2018.

U.S. officials have not formally shared these locations with North Korea.

Trump expressed hopes of meeting Kim early this year, the North Korean leader, in his

New Year's speech, also said he is ready to sit down with his American counterpart again

anytime.

Vietnam, Indonesia, Hawaii, Mongolia and the demilitarized zone at the inter-Korean border

have been mentioned by sources and experts as potential summit venues.

a stalwart in terms of justice for people in terms of fairness and in terms of the toughness you need you have some

Pretty tough situations. It doesn't get much tougher. So I just want to thank Brandon and all of the folks

I'm going to have them introduce themselves right now and also say a few words about

The wall about you can go to a barrier. You can call it. Whatever you want

But essentially we need protection in our country. We're gonna make it good

The people of our country want it I have never had so much support as I have in the last

Week over my stance for border security for border

Control and for frankly the wall or the barrier

I have never had anything like it in terms of calls coming in in terms of people

Writing in and tweeting and doing whatever they have to do

I've never had this much support and we've done some things that as you know, I've been very popular

so I'm gonna ask Brendan judge to just step forward and

Say a few words this group is apprehended last year

17,000 criminals trying to get across the border

17,000 and that's one category. There are plenty of others the other

Thing that has been so incredible is what they've done in terms of drugs and stopping drugs and with that and with everything else

Plenty unfortunately come through our southern border

But I'm gonna ask Brendan to come up say a few words and maybe introduce our friends and some very brave people

Brendan flesh. Thank you

Thank you president, we really appreciate all the support that you've given them the border patrol we appreciate the support that you've given ice

My name is Brandon Jed. I'm the president of the National Border Patrol Council

I've been a board role agent for 21 years

I can personally tell you from the work that I have done on the southwest border that physical barriers that walls actually

Work you hear a lot of talk from the expert that you hear a lot of talk that there are

Experts that say that walls don't work. I promise you that if you interview Border Patrol agents, they will tell you walzwerk

I worked in NACO, Arizona for 10 years

We didn't have physical barriers in NACO and illegal immigration and drug smuggling was absolutely out of control

We built those walls those physical barriers and illegal immigration dropped

exponentially

Anywhere that you look where we have built walls. They have worked they have been an

absolute necessity for Border Patrol agents in

securing the border

We need those physical barriers and we appreciate President Trump and all of his efforts in getting

Us those physical barriers there's also a lot of talk on this shutdown that federal employees. Do not agree with the shutdown

I will tell you that's not true. And with that I'd like to introduce art doll klepto

He is the vice president of the national workflow Council

He's also a longtime Border Patrol agent out of the Tucson Sector and he's lead like to say a few words about the shutdown

Thank you, thank you everybody

Once again, my name is art detto I am a vice president with the National Border Patrol Council. I

Want everybody to take the time to understand what's going on?

We were all affected by this shutdown. We have skin in the game

However, it comes down to border security

And we're extremely grateful to President Trump and we fully support what he is doing to take care of our nation's borders

To take care of the future of this United States

It has nothing to do with political parties

You all got to ask yourself this question

If I come to your home

Do you want me to knock on the front door or do you want me to climb through that window?

We fully support the president and all his efforts to secure our nation's borders

Hello everyone, my name is Hector Garza. I'm the vice president of the National border patrol Council

I am also a border patrol agent of the Texas border

I just want to talk about some of those criminals that border patrol agents apprehend on a daily basis

We're talking about murderers rapists

People that commit very serious crimes in this country

Ice has been doing an amazing job in deporting a lot of these people back to their countries, unfortunately

Once we deport these people these people will not stay in their country

These criminally ins that have been released from jail that have been deported will come right back into United States

However, we had a physical barrier if we had a wall we will be able to stop that

again, we would thank President Trump for

Advocating for Border Patrol agents. And again, we asked her congressman to fund for security and fund the border wall. Thank you

So this meeting was set up a long time ago

it just came at a very opportune time and I thought

We were all sitting in the Oval Office working on different plans and different

Ways of stopping the problems that we have in our country and other countries have problems

But nobody like ours the economy makes it even more so the economy is bringing people in because we're doing so well with the economy

unemployment is now three point seven percent and

That's among the lowest we've ever had the lowest in 50 years and among certain groups

It's the lowest historically so I just appreciate them being here

I said let's go out see the press you can tell them about the importance of the wall

They basically said and I think I can take the word basically out without a wall

You cannot have border security without a very for strong form of barrier

Call it what you will but without a wall you cannot have border security. It won't work you

See what's just been put out on social media where thousands of people are rushing the border having a drone fly overhead

And I think nobody knows much more about technology

This type of technology certainly than I do

having drones and various other form of sensors

They're all fine

But they're not going to stop the problems that this country has we've never had more

people

Wanting to come to the United States and that has to do with the economy and has to do with a lot of other things

Where we're doing great as a country

But the better we do the more people want to come in

So folks, I just want to thank you very much. It's an honor to be with you and I'm glad you came

I'm glad we came out here and

First time I've ever done. This is the first time I've done it

I've done it for you, and I'm very proud of that because you have done a fantastic job

And I want to thank you all first. Thank you very much. Thank you all very much. Appreciate. Thank you

Brandon I will say this Brandon Judd has been a

stalwart in terms of justice for people in terms of fairness and in terms of the toughness you need you have some

US employers added a stellar 312,000 jobs in December - Duration: 5:34.

U.S. employers dramatically stepped up their hiring in December, adding 312,000 jobs in an encouraging display of strength for an economy in the midst of a trade war, slowing global growth and a partial shutdown of the federal government

The Labor Department said Friday that the unemployment rate rose slightly to 3.9 percent, but that reflected a surge in jobseekers— a positive for growth

Average hourly pay improved 3.2 percent from a year ago, up from average wage growth of 2

7 percent at the end of 2017. The jolt in hiring offers a dose of reassurance after a tumultuous few months as the outlook from the financial markets has turned decidedly bleaker

Job growth at this pace is a sign that the economy will continue to expand for a 10th straight year, even if overall growth slows somewhat because of the waning stimulus from President Donald Trump's tax cuts

Although employers are showing their confidence, the financial markets have become increasingly worried

Major companies such as Apple say their sales are being jeopardized by the tariff-fueled trade war between the United States and China

Factory activity in China and the United States have both weakened, with the Institute for Supply Management's U

S. manufacturing index on Thursday posting its steepest decline in a decade. The government is about to enter its third week of a partial shutdown, with negotiations stalled over President Donald Trump's insistence that Democrats agree on funding for a wall along the border with Mexico

And attacks by Trump on the Federal Reserve over its rate increases have raised doubts about Chairman Jay Powell's status — a concern for both the markets and the economy

The expected continuation of steady job growth suggests that such risks might be — for the moment, anyway — overblown

However, the stock market will have to weigh whether the strong job growth encourages the Fed to hike rates in 2019 more frequently than investors had previously anticipated

The health care, food services, construction and manufacturing sectors were the primary contributors to last month's hiring

Health care and education services added 82,000 jobs in December, the biggest jump since February 2012

Restaurants and drinking placed posted a net gain of 40,700 jobs. Builders added 38,000 construction jobs, while manufacturers increased their payrolls by 32,000 workers

Businesses are still searching for more workers. The employment site Glassdoor found that job postings have risen 17 percent in the past year to 6

7 million. "We really don't see any slowdown yet," said Andrew Chamberlain, chief economist at Glassdoor

Despite the increase in the unemployment rate, the influx of people searching for work coupled with the job gains is an indication that the rate should decline in the coming months

Economists estimate that it requires roughly 100,000 job gains each month to satisfy population growth and keep the unemployment rate at its current level

Hiring has easily eclipsed that pace. In 2018, employers added 2.6 million jobs, or an average of nearly 217,000 a month, according to the Labor Department

US President Donald Trump dismisses impeachment talk as Democrats' 2020 election ploy - Duration: 2:54.

"How do you impeach a president who has won perhaps the greatest election of all time, done nothing wrong" and has had the "most successful two years of any president," Mr Trump tweeted

He also said he's "the most popular Republican in party history." But this last claim has easily been shown to be false by checking readily available figures published by CNN

President George H.W. Bush had a Republican party approval rating of 94% in January 1990, at the exact same point in his presidency as Mr Trump is now

Even higher was George W. Bush's Republican party approval rating 18 months into his presidency

In July 2002, he had a 96% approval rating. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been cautious about whether her new Democratic majority would ever impeach Trump, but at least two of her members are ready to move forward

California Rep. Brad Sherman and Texas Rep. Al Green introduced articles of impeachment against Mr Trump on Thursday, the first day of the new Congress

Mr Sherman and Mr Green pushed to impeach Mr Trump in 2017 and 2018 but the House blocked those resolutions twice, with the help of Democrats who said the effort was premature

Speaker Pelosi hasn't ruled out impeachment but has called it a "divisive activity" that needs support from both parties

She and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler have said they want to wait for the outcome of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russia's meddling in the 2016 election and contacts with the Trump campaign

President Trump said his campaign did not collude with Russia. "They only want to impeach me because they know they can't win in 2020, too much success!" he tweeted

US election Democrats 2020 strategy akin to Trumpism without Trump - Duration: 3:29.

US election Democrats 2020 strategy akin to Trumpism without Trump

The Democratic Party should take some time to reflect on exactly what it is they stand for if they are to make sure is just a one term president, a professor of international politics told CNBC on Wednesday.

While 2019 has just started, the 2020 presidential season is about to kick into full swing.

More than 30 Democrats are thinking about announcing presidential bids, but very few stand out as obvious front runners and there are plenty of questions facing the party as It prepares to challenge Trump once again.

"The Democratic party does not have a fundamentally different economic political agenda overall — it is Trumpism without Trump I would say," Inderjeet Parmar, the head of international politics at the U.K.s City University, told CNBCs "Squawk Box Europe" on Wednesday.

"They believe that they pretty much won 2016 by 3 million votes and that a handful of votes in four states was all that was between them and the White House, so they havent changed their strategy very much."

"Alongside Trumps movement further and further to the right, they have effectively followed him along that path," Parmar said.

Senator became the first major candidate to enter the presidential race, in a video emailed to supporters on Monday.

The former Harvard professor promoted a message of economic fairness, while targeting corruption and racial inequity.

Warren is among the first Democrats to take a formal step for the partys nomination to take on Trump in 2020. The field is expected to grow in the coming weeks as other Democrats enter what will likely become a crowded and expensive primary contest.

In addition to the uncertainty surrounding who is running for office, the party currently finds itself in a state of transition. It comes at a time when the party is viewed as largely leaderless, with center left policies being pushed aside by a more ideologically liberal agenda.

Meanwhile, , the former Republican presidential candidate and incoming U.S. senator from Utah, published a of Trump on Tuesday evening.

"Trump becomes the central focal point — and that is for the GOP as well and people like Mitt Romney and others. They are basically saying that Trump is the problem," City Universitys Parmar said.

"My view is that Trump actually is a symptom of a much deeper problem. If you only seek to replace him but you carry on talking in the same kind of way with the same sort of broad set of policies, you are effectively going to continue that underlying legitimacy crisis which brought someone like Trump into office in the first place."

"And I think that is just storing up a large number of problems for the future," Parmar said.

In a , Romney said the U.S. leader had caused dismay around the world, attacking several of Trumps actions in recent weeks.

"The appointment of senior persons of lesser experience, the abandonment of allies who fight beside us, and the presidents thoughtless claim that America has long been a sucker in world affairs all defined his presidency down," he wrote.

He added that "Trumps words and actions have caused dismay around the world."

Trump is yet to issue a response to Romeys op ed.

The timing of the essay has prompted external observers to speculate whether the two time presidential hopeful might try to challenge Trump in the 2020 Republican primary election.

US says airstrike targeted militant tied to USS Cole bombing - Duration: 2:22.

An American airstrike earlier this week targeted an al-Qaida operative accused of involvement in the attack nearly two decades ago on the USS Cole that killed 17 sailors, a U

S. military spokesman said Friday. The man targeted, Jamal al-Badawi, is wanted in the United States for his role in the Cole attack on Oct

12, 2000. He was indicted by a U.S. grand jury in 2003 and charged with 50 counts of various terrorism offenses, including murder of U

S. nationals and murder of U.S. military personnel. "U.S. forces are still assessing the results of the strike following a deliberate process to confirm his death," the spokesman for U

S. Central Command, Navy Capt. William Urban, said. Urban said the airstrike was conducted Jan

1 in the governate of Marib, which is east of Sanaa, the Yemeni capital. The Cole, a guide-missile destroyer, was attacked by suicide bombers in an explosives-laden boat while refueling at the Yemeni port of Aden

The stunning assault, which also wounded 39 aboard the ship, foreshadowed the more deadly attacks of Sept

11, 2001 that launched the U.S. on wars in the Middle East that are still underway, including in Afghanistan
