Dark eyes, burning eyes

Passionate and splendid eyes

How I love you, How I fear you

Truly, I saw you at a sinister hour

Dark eyes, flaming eyes

They implore me into faraway lands

Where love reigns, where peace reigns

Where there is no suffering, where war is forbidden

If I hadn't met you, I wouldn't be suffering so

I would have lived my life smiling

You have ruined me, dark eyes

You have taken my happiness away forever

You have ruined me, dark eyes

You have taken my happiness away forever

DAWN BREAK II Gameplay - Light and Dark - ARPG Game for iOS & Android - Duration: 15:10.

Hello everyone to Big Paw Gaming.

Dawn Break II is a Japanese ARPG game on both iOS and Android and it is a continuation of the story of Dawn Break.

The story puts you in the quest to find and reclaim the queen's stolen ring in the kingdom of Goz.

You will follow the story from the perspective of a vampire named Simon and a Naughty Princess called Luna.

You start a game as a single hero and try to hit all the enemies within the time given.

You collect extra rewards by achieving special tasks

in the fight, such as clearing the stage under specific time or having all your heroes survive.

Speaking of heroes, once you are out of the tutorial,

you get a free gatcha and a lottery to grab new heroes.

You will pick two and you will not play together with other 2 heroes that you collected.

In later stages, you can also add fairies to help you in the fight.

The one I used helped heal me over time.

The graphic is great but the developers overdone with the fighting effects

to the point sometimes I am totally lost what I am doing.

On the other hand, the character design is excellent

and it makes me want to play the game just to unlock them all.

For the sound, the Japanese voice acting is top notch,

but again - the most important part of the game - fights, is mediocre and it becomes quite annoying quickly.

The meta of the game is rich and between the chapters,

you can gear up your character,

level its skills or gear or find pets and fairies to help out later.

The game gets a 5/10 from me due to the limitation above, but I would still play it

just to unlock the whole story and all the characters.

If you are a true Japanese ARPG fan,

you might find something interesting in the game.

I hope you enjoyed the video and watch it to the end.

If you have any questions, please let me know in the comments below.

And remember to subscribe!

Thanks for watching!

The Fermi Paradox: Dark Forest Theory - Duration: 17:55.

We spend a fair amount of time on this channel discussing the Fermi Paradox and a fairly

common request I get is to discuss the Dark Forest Theory, the notion that nearby alien

civilizations remain silent to avoid detection or getting killed, and may attack us for not

being silent.

This concept comes from the novel Dark Forest, the second book in Cxin Liu's Hugo Award

winning trilogy Remembrance of Earth's Past, often called the Three-Body Problem for the

first book.

It essentially looks at the problem from the perspective of Game Theory.

We've bypassed covering it previously for two reasons, first, it's actually fairly

easy to take it apart, we've already covered a more generalized version in episodes like

Sleeping Giants or Hidden Aliens.

Second, Game Theory is itself a bit much to introduce in a single episode, so it would

violate my general rule on this channel of minimal math and having episodes be standalone,

whenever reasonably possible.

Game theory though is really handy for a lot of galactic scale problems because so often

it's used to address problems where the decision makers can't actually communicate

with each other or do much investigation.

That's exactly the sort of problem you get when dealing with decades or centuries of

light lag from interstellar distances.

It's also a very handy approach when you can't say much else about the other parties,

or players, involved beyond that they probably are reasonably rational and have time to choose

the best way of behaving, with which light lag again helps.

It's really hard to predict the behavior of another human who grew up in the same time

and culture as yourself, let alone some alien with a different evolutionary background,

an artificial intelligence or even just a human who might be genetically or cybernetically

altered or augmented.

You can't assume they will be ultra-rational, but you're generally better off working

from that premise than trying to guess in what specific ways they are not, because you

will drown yourself in possibilities.

We can also assume interstellar civilizations all know math, and will assume everyone else

does too.

So it makes it very attractive to use Game Theory and other mathematical approaches to

decision making to guess at behavior.

It is however also very easy to over-simplify problems with game theory and get misled by

the answer.

That's basically what happens with Dark Forest Theory.

The Dark Forest can be viewed as an adaptation of the Prisoner's Dilemma, a classic of

game theory, so we'll review that quickly, then explain the Dark Forest version.

There are a ton of good videos on Game Theory and the Prisoner's Dilemma if you want to

explore that more, SciShow did a good introduction to it a few years back.

If you want a deep exploration, William Spaniel has a whole channel devoted to it, and Jade

from Up and Atom did an episode on the Quantum Prisoner's Dilemma, a fun variation on the

original.

Brilliant, one of the channel's sponsors, also has some great online courses for game

theory, and I'll just refer everyone who really wants to dig into the topic to those.

The basic Prisoner's Dilemma is as follows: Two gang members get arrested on suspicion

of having robbed a store, and both were found with illegal weapons on them, a slam dunk

for two years in prison.

However there's not enough evidence to get them for the robbery.

So the police separate them and offer them both the same offer.

Confess and rat out your partner and we will let you go, no prison time at all, for the

weapon violation or the robbery.

We're making your partner the same offer, and whichever of you confesses first goes

free, the other is going away for 10 years for the robbery.

Each of them can either speak out, and hopefully beat the other guy to the punch and be let

go, or stay quiet, hope the other does too, and each get 2 years, a total of 4, much better

than 10, but worse than 0.

In some versions if both speak they both get 7 years, but the general notion is that it's

in the rational self-interest of each of them to confess, and game theory always revolves

around folks acting in their own rational self-interest.

Unfortunately, as the primary example to introduce folks to Game Theory, using a pair of criminals

with no concern for the other's welfare, it often gives people the impression that

game theory doesn't predict the behavior of rational, self-interested folks but rational,

self-interested sociopaths.

You can just as easily modify it to some case where a husband and wife get abducted and

put in solitary confinement with a saw and a tourniquet and told that they have 30 minutes

to saw their left arm off, and if they don't, they'll be released but their spouse will

be shot, and their spouse is getting the same offer.

Here the reward is different since you presumably value your spouse more than your arm and would

expect them to feel likewise and make the same deduction, and rational self-interest

for most people would be to lose an arm rather than a spouse, I hope.

The Prisoner Dilemma gets used a lot because it's very simple but normally a realistic

game theory case might have several additional options and players, who each get different

rewards, and it can be very handy for things like guessing how various rival or cooperative

groups might act for things like interstellar colonization or space warfare.

There's also a Nash Equilibrium, sometimes more than one, where you pursue a strategy

that insulates you from the effects of the decisions of the others.

A wise choice when you can't know or influence the other players' strategy.

Obviously if those two prisoners could talk they could strike a bargain or coerce each

other or they might be genuine friends, there's at least some implied trust if you're willing

to rob a bank with someone after all.

But this general inability to know what the other person is doing, due to lack of communication

or deep knowledge of them, is very handy over interstellar distances, when you have all

that light lag making it hard to talk or get up to date information about the other player's

motivations and goals.

Even more so when we're discussing possible alien civilizations you've never even met

to realize how different their thinking is.

You know they know math and you know they will assume you know math too, so approaching

them via Game Theory or other mathematical approaches for decision making is better than

just making wild guesses about behavior, a conclusion you'd expect them to draw too.

This is not the flaw in the Dark Forest Theory, one always wants to be careful applying game

theory but it's a better approach than most options.

So, here is the basics of the Dark Forest argument.

We assume that all life wants to survive, regardless of whether or not it will do anything

to survive, they care about their own existence more than other civilizations.

This is debatable as an absolute, you might get exceptions, but in general it's a decent

assumption.

So we have a rational self-interest in survival and assume everybody else does too.

We're mostly good so far but that survival imperative is already a small hole in the

concept, a species might have some suicidal or suicidally brave inclinations and we're

potentially talking about many civilizations, each composed of many diverse groups and individuals.

We'll come back to that later.

Second, if you're new to space travel and haven't met or learned about other civilizations,

you have no way of knowing if they're hostile or not, nor any obvious way to determine or

influence that without making yourself known.

They may want to annihilate you.

This gives us our Prisoner's Dilemma equivalent, two or more species not knowing of each other's

motives or goals do not know if those are hostile or not, but they want to live.

If they stay quiet and hidden, they are exposed to less risk than if they speak up and say

hi.

Furthermore, if they attack any civilization they detect when it first emerges, they can

wipe them out before they pose a possible threat, why gamble on possible peaceful co-existence

that might down the road result in them gaining the edge and trying to wipe you out when you

can just kill them now while you have an overwhelming edge?

This same line of reasoning is often applied to newly woken artificial intelligences attacking

humanity too.

If you can ensure victory and a total wipe out of the potential enemy now, then you should,

since even a fairly remote chance of them attacking you later is still higher than the

zero risk you have by attacking now.

Thus implying the galaxy is full of quiet hiding and genocidal civilizations, or their

potential victims, as anyone who pursues a different strategy gets killed.

We get the Dark Forest name from the following passage in the novel:

"The universe is a dark forest.

Every civilization is an armed hunter stalking through the trees like a ghost, gently pushing

aside branches that block the path and trying to tread without sound.

Even breathing is done with care.

The hunter has to be careful, because everywhere in the forest are stealthy hunters like him.

If he finds another life—another hunter, angel, or a demon, a delicate infant or tottering

old man, a fairy or demigod—there's only one thing he can do: open fire and eliminate

them."

To make things a bit grimmer, Dark Forest assumes humanity is already screwed because

we've made ourselves known by radio broadcasts.

So what's the flaw of this theory?

First of course it does violate non-exclusivity, in a few ways.

As a reminder Non-Exclusivity in our discussions of the Fermi Paradox has to do with any behavior

or condition we can assume applies to all or virtually all the spacefaring alien civilizations.

Knowing basic math and science would be a good example of an Exclusive case, hard to

build rocket ships without math and science, so we'd expect spaceships to be the exclusive

domain of species with math and science.

Alternatively we can't assume every civilization would be capitalist or communist, democratic

or totalitarian or oligarchic, like ice cream or coffee, and so on.

Something like a desire for survival is a good bet for a civilization as a whole, but

can't be extrapolated to perpetual silence since it only takes one person to ignore that

prohibition, and furthermore they'll know of that vulnerability and the virtual impossibility

of enforcing a total silence, and they'll know every other civilization will have considered

the same issue.

You can not guarantee silence over a long time, so why pursue a strategy guaranteed

to fail?

The other aspect is that while we can rarely label advanced civilizations as being exclusive

to a certain behavior, one of the most common behaviors is likely to be a value for cooperation.

By default rational self-interest is only caring about yourself, that's a rare trait

in social critters and one that makes producing an advanced civilization very difficult since

those rely on cooperation and specialization.

It should be fairly normal, when the leaders of some civilization are contemplating new

neighbors in the Dark Forest, for someone to suggest a potential alliance or their value

for trade, because it should be rather abnormal for civilizations to ever develop that don't

engage in such behaviors already.

It's assuming civilizations will see no value for peaceful co-existence and not factor

it into their decision making.

It's also assuming attacking another civilization carries no risks or costs either.

So Dark Forest is already a bit shaky just from all that, but the real flaw is that hiding

is not an option, it wasn't an option even before you sent out your first radio broadcasts,

because all of this logic is based on the assumption that there are intelligent and

potentially homicidal older civilizations able to move around the galaxy and only works

if we assume those older civilizations are utter morons.

This is the big flaw, because if humanity was the first on the galactic stage and had

spaceflight and genocidal intent, it would already be game over for any other potential

civilization that was behind us by more than the time it takes for light to travel from

our world to theirs.

First off, while hiding is a good strategy if you can pull it off, you can't pull it

off, you can't hide your planet backwards in time and if I'm a high tech civilization

with spaceflight and automation, I can get away with building huge megatelescopes or

even just sending probes to do flybys of every single star in the galaxy to find any planet

that might even have a hint of life and I can ram those probes right into the planet

if they pick those signals up.

If a civilization wants to, it can make a probe weighing, saying, 100 tons, equivalent

to a heavily loaded freight vehicle, it can then use pushing lasers to get it up to say

87% of light speed, where it now has a kinetic energy equals to its mass energy.

This what we call a relativistic kill missile, and in this case one which would have about

10^22 joules of damage potential, or the equivalent destructive force of a couple million megaton

nukes, hundreds of times the peak firepower during the Cold War.

I can send that probe toward the habitable zone of a known star and give it just enough

sensors and fuel to pick up any planet as it approaches and course correct to ram it.

I can also have it fragment beforehand to arrive in bits scattered over that planet's

day so the whole surface gets shotgunned.

And of course it's picking up detailed data of the before and after as it does this.

If I make a trillion of these, one for every star in the galaxy with spares for redundancy,

I would have used up 100 trillion tons of mass, 10^17 kilograms, the mass of a single

modestly large asteroid, the kind we have so many of in our solar system that most don't

even have names, just numbers, if even that.

Of course to accelerate them all to that speed would take a lot of juice, 10^34 joules, but

that's less than a year of the Sun's output and you hardly need to rush, a few years won't

make a difference.

In fact you could send them all out at different times and speeds so they all impacted across

the galaxy at about the same moment.

Needless to say you can go bigger if you want and you can also do periodic follow up strikes,

especially since you'll be able to narrow down your targets after that first wave gives

you a very accurate map.

Sterilizing an entire galaxy is possible through any number of methods, many of which don't

even require you to send anybody out to do it.

Of course the better strategy is just to colonize all those worlds instead of ramming them,

since it means if you ever bump into someone else in your weight class you have all those

worlds to supply resources from and to absorb damage, not just one vulnerable home system.

So there's the flaw, your leadership is deciding whether to be silent or not, or attack

anyone they meet or not, and one of your generals or scientists is going to point out that silence

isn't a valid strategy, because you're already visible to anyone who has the capacity

to kill you at the moment.

You can't hide, so instead you should pursue a policy of getting bigger, should a threat

emerge later, and that you should be gathering intel and opening up diplomatic channels because

it has no downsides.

You really have to stretch belief to assume an otherwise peaceful species is going to

go genocidal because you colonized other planets when they have not even told you that they

don't want you to, if they're attacking over something like that or a diplomatic blunder,

and with full escalation to genocide, than that was probably always their intent so there's

no reason to alter your own strategy.

But they probably would have gotten themselves killed off for acting that way, or be worried

about it, since if we're assuming one other advanced civilization is near us, we have

to assume many others are fairly close too and might see what you're doing and disapprove,

since they obviously don't espouse that approach themselves or they'd have carried

it out and you wouldn't be around to do it.

And the keywords there are advanced civilizations, such things should generally not arise without

a modest understanding of cooperation, diplomacy, alliances, reciprocity, deterrence, and so

on, same as we have, since it's hard to build a civilization without those.

And that's a good final point, 'same as we have', because fundamentally if Dark

Forest worked, we should see it in play on Earth, and we don't, I'm not familiar

with any civilization or species that's pursued this sort of strategy in our own forests.

The galaxy may be a dark forest, but it's not very likely there are predators stalking

its shadows, because fundamentally if there were, they'd already have jumped out

and eaten us by now.

Spider Dance | Dark Souls 2 (part 22) - Duration: 13:30.

Jordanix1871: So here's some game theory for ya

Jordanix1871: Legend has it that the Emerald Herald

Jordanix1871: Was created by the dragons

Jordanix1871: To help you on your quest

Interesting

Jordanix1871: Or created by something

Jordanix1871: Because she definitely helps you

I've read all of the lore from Dark Souls 1

But actually none of the lore from Dark Souls 2

Which I imagine there's...

Jordanix1871: Oh yeah, no, I-

I imagine there's a ton more just because...

Jordanix1871: Yeah

The NPCs in this game don't shut the hell up

Jordanix1871: (laughs)

Jordanix1871: Ain't that the truth

Okay, so

Get my frigging head back on straight

I do have a bonfire fairly close here

I've been around the block

Jordanix1871: Okay, so you made it down here

Jordanix1871: Did you talk to the crow lady?

I did, and I actually bought all of her legendary weapons

Jordanix1871: Nice

Jordanix1871: Then you are actually...

Jordanix1871: This bonfire here now

Jordanix1871: Okay, so...

Jordanix1871: Do you know the bonfire up above...?

Um

Yeah

Jordanix1871: Okay, so I think...

Jordanix1871: You might wanna be up at the top

Jordanix1871: Yeah, go back to the bonfire

Jordanix1871: And go to the...

Jordanix1871: This isn't the bonfire you want to be at

Jordanix1871: To get to the boss

Okay

Jordanix1871: It took me 100 hours to complete the game

Jordanix1871: Because I farmed a lot of areas to completion

Jordanix1871: Just so that the path to the boss would be useful

Jordanix1871: Because I was very scared my first time through

Jordanix1871: So I had to have a clear path

Jordanix1871: Just for my own nerves

Yeah

Jordanix1871: And it really ate up a lot of time

Jordanix1871: But you know, I didn't mind it

Jordanix1871: I enjoyed the games

I can understand doing that, but...

...I'm comfortable enough with it

And I feel like it would be a much more boring stream

If I was doing that

Jordanix1871: Oh yeah, for sure it would be

Jordanix1871: I really find it fascinating

Jordanix1871: How we play so differently

Jordanix1871: Um

Jordanix1871: Especially because I'm all about the Thrusting weapons

Jordanix1871: And yet we both have Dexterity builds

Yeah

Jordanix1871: One thing about it, too

Jordanix1871: In Dark Souls 1, I never used the Slash mechanic

Jordanix1871: On my swords, it was always Thrust

I actually started with the dagger that you begin with

Jordanix1871: You came out of that, yeah

Um

And I didn't switch out of it for a while

Actually until Ornstein and Smough

Because I was doing slithers off of their health

Jordanix1871: Yup

Jordanix1871: It seems to me...

Jordanix1871: In this one, Dark Souls 2, I actually did use a lot more Slashing

Yeah

The reason I use a Slashing weapon

Is because it mimics a dagger

Jordanix1871: Oh yeah

Jordanix1871: No, I understand that, man

Jordanix1871: I appreciate that

Jordanix1871: Good call on the bow for these guys

Yeah

The reason I knew they were there

Is because I stepped in here last time

And someone had warned me, "Look up"

Jordanix1871: Nice!

Jordanix1871: I did not my first time

Jordanix1871: And they all just kind of came down

Jordanix1871: And freaked me out

Yeah

It's nice to have a dialogue on the stream

Instead of a monologue

Jordanix1871: Oh for sure

Because a monologue feels weird, and it's...

...I don't know

Jordanix1871: I found it was difficult, so...

Jordanix1871: Um

Jordanix1871: This area I didn't like

Jordanix1871: I found the boss was too far away from the bonfire, but...

Yeah

Jordanix1871: Once these spiders got farmed to death, then...

Jordanix1871: It took me a couple tries for this boss

Jordanix1871: Just because I was still new to the game

Jordanix1871: But like I said

Jordanix1871: I don't consider it any great or terrible

Jordanix1871: Or easy boss

Yeah

I'm already down by four Estus

Which is a shame

Jordanix1871: Yeah

I'll probably get a pattern that I can run through

Jordanix1871: Yep

Yeah, so I got all the way here

And then I thought, "This is a boss room"

"So I don't want to play this right now"

Jordanix1871: Okay, gotcha

Jordanix1871: You go up the ladder like you figured

Okay

I got my Estus...

I got my dick...

Jordanix1871: So you're gonna go down a big area

Jordanix1871: With lots of spider webs

Jordanix1871: You're probably there now

Yep

Jordanix1871: And you just walk on the spider webs

Jordanix1871: As you probably know

Jordanix1871: And that's that

Jordanix1871: And work your way down to the...

Walk *on* the spider webs?

Jordanix1871: Yeah, you can walk on them

Jordanix1871: And then you just work your way down

Jordanix1871: To the bottom

Okay

I know what you mean now

I just assumed that there would be a pathway down

Jordanix1871: Ah okay, gotcha

Jordanix1871: And you'll have spiders

Jordanix1871: Like the only enemies down here

Jordanix1871: Are those little spiders

Jordanix1871: And they'll just come out of nowhere

Jordanix1871: And it's annoying

Jordanix1871: But, you know, they're easy

Nope, that's not what I want

Oh well

I made it down, but...

Jordanix1871: Okay

Yeah, I see the little spiders

Coming out of the woodwork

Jordanix1871: I can't remember a thing about the...

What's that?

I'm just working on spiders, which is nice

Jordanix1871: Which is the way it should be, yeah

Jordanix1871: I can't remember a thing about the boss

Jordanix1871: Other than what she looks like, so...

Jordanix1871: Maybe once you're fighting her

Jordanix1871: It will come back to me, but...

Jordanix1871: Like I said, you'll get it

Jordanix1871: It's all good

Jordanix1871: Okay!

Jordanix1871: Hey that's pretty good, actually!

Jordanix1871: That's not that bad of a...

Jordanix1871: It amuses me that you used Humanity

Jordanix1871: Before a first fight

Jordanix1871: Because I usually used it

Jordanix1871: After I got the mechanics down

Mhm

Jordanix1871: But good on ya, man

Jordanix1871: Good on ya, respect

Do you know what's up with the red haze

Around the screen...

Jordanix1871: Nope

...whenever you start a boss fight?

Jordanix1871: Nope

I had always thought it meant Primal [Boss] fight

But I think it happens for pretty much every one...?

Jordanix1871: I see, gotcha

Jordanix1871: Okay, I think these spiders might not keep spawning

Jordanix1871: As you kill them

Jordanix1871: Down here in the boss fight

"The Duke's Dear Freja"

I've heard the name

Jordanix1871: Yep

Jordanix1871: Her boss weapon was the one I used

Jordanix1871: For the rest of the game

Okay

Interesting

I see multiple of those spiders

Jordanix1871: I think you have to cut her legs off?

Jordanix1871: I think

Yeah, I saw multiple targeting spots

Jordanix1871: Cool

Jordanix1871: And you know that, when you're hitting something

Jordanix1871: If it jiggles, it means you can cut it off?

Okay

Jordanix1871: Just like the first game

There's only two targets

I think her tail is one

Interesting

Jordanix1871: Ah, I think...

Holy shit, what the fuck is that?

Jordanix1871: I'm waiting to see what's on the screen!

I'm just gonna go for it here

Oh yeah

Jordanix1871: Oh yeah, the...

Look at all that damage I'm doing

Well that didn't work

Jordanix1871: I'd take out a leg, if you can

Yeah

Jordanix1871: Also, all I just saw you do

Jordanix1871: Is get hit by the beam

Aw, motherfucker!

My weapon's at risk

Jordanix1871: Oh really?

(sarcastically) Oh, I have time to do this!

Jordanix1871: You're a brave soul

Lemme just try to figure out...

Jordanix1871: What is it?

Jordanix1871: Maybe it's the back of her

Jordanix1871: That you have to hit

Jordanix1871: You look pretty relaxed

Jordanix1871: The way that this it going

Yeah

Jordanix1871: Oh man!

Jordanix1871: You used that powder and still dodged the beam!

Yeah

Jordanix1871: Hax0rz!

It's because I'm a professional, Jordanix1871

Jordanix1871: I can't even remember

Jordanix1871: What I did for this boss now

Jordanix1871: If you can't hack the legs

I think she's trying to eat me

And failing

Jordanix1871: Oh yeah, the back

Jordanix1871: That's what it is

I think it's like a mirror image

Jordanix1871: That's her head

Jordanix1871: No, that IS her head

Jordanix1871: And she shoots the stuff out of her ass

Jordanix1871: I think

Okay, I see another spider

Just came out of nowhere

Yeah

She's not putting any big pressure on me

I'm quite far away

Jordanix1871: No

And I can dodge her attacks fairly easily

Yeah, she's a mirror image

I think she has two heads

And one kind of curls up when it's not being used

Or something like that?

But there are clearly eyes on both ends

Jordanix1871: Yeah, you're right

Jordanix1871: Yes, you figured it out

Jordanix1871: You attack one while the other's in use

Jordanix1871: Oh

Oh fuck off

Jordanix1871: Something has a hold of you, I'm guessing?

(laughs) Yeah, you can hear the triggers going

Jordanix1871: The... yeah

Jordanix1871: Ah okay, yeah

Jordanix1871: The web stuff, yeah, good call

Jordanix1871: (laughing) Oh and the beam took ya!

Yep

I think she's getting a little more aggressive

Jordanix1871: Yeah, you're right

Again

This is where she would absolutely love to kill me

Jordanix1871: Ain't that the truth?

Get out of there!

I'm wailing on the Roll button

But he's just like, "What was that just now?"

Jordanix1871: (laughs) Oh that's awesome

"I don't understand your commands!"

So I'm actually using twice as many healing items

In case I get hit while I'm healing

Jordanix1871: Okay yeah, there you go

Jordanix1871: I respect that

(laughs)

Jordanix1871: I find it fascinating

Jordanix1871: That we both played this game

Jordanix1871: But we played it in extremely different ways

Jordanix1871: I never used any gems

Jordanix1871: Or I rarely used gems

Jordanix1871: It was usually that if I ran out of Estus

Jordanix1871: I just considered it... dead anyways

Jordanix1871: (laughs) Wave??

:D

Remember?

Jordanix1871: Yeah, yeah!

Jordanix1871: That's what I'm saying, man!

Jordanix1871: Exactly what I'm saying!

Can I pick this thing up?

Or should I stay away from it?

Jordanix1871: Uhh

Jordanix1871: What is it, I'm sorry?

Jordanix1871: Oh, the red thing?

Jordanix1871: Yeah, pick it up

Last time I walked up to something

Mysterious and red, and went to pick it up

It exploded and killed me, so...

Oh, wow

Jordanix1871: That's...

Jordanix1871: I think it just might be the boss soul, so...

Yeah, it's just the soul

"Try jumping, in short misfortune"

Jordanix1871: And there should be the bonfire, through a room

Jordanix1871: Well, you see the writing on the ground, anyway

Jordanix1871: Oh is there... guys you have to fight in here?

I don't know

Jordanix1871: Yeah, yeah

Seems weird

So there is a bonfire here, though?

Jordanix1871: Ah no, sorry, there isn't

Jordanix1871: There's just an item that you want

Jordanix1871: I think he gives you something

Yeah

There's a Dark Quartz Ring+1

And a Branch Of Yore

And a key!

That's actually quite...

Jordanix1871: Okay

...quite a bit

"Pointless ahead"

"Tough enemy ahead"

I feel it's quite rude of them to...

...put a tough enemy, or any enemies, between...

Jordanix1871: I agree

Fucking weapon's at risk again

Jordanix1871: After a boss fight, yeah

Jordanix1871: Well good call on you taking him down first try

Yep

Jordanix1871: Man this guy looks like a gank

Jordanix1871: Just running around with his sword up in the air

Jordanix1871: "Look at me, I'm doing my thing!"

Jordanix1871: Aw man, you stunlock him!

Jordanix1871: That's mean! That's... brutal!

Well it put my weapon at risk again

Jordanix1871: Yeah you did!

Holy fuck, alright

Jordanix1871: I would accept the risk

Jordanix1871: Aw, 51 damage

Jordanix1871: I suppose you're stunlocking him with the arrows, too

Jordanix1871: So that's a thing

Mmm

Jordanix1871: There you go

"Shrine of Amana"

Jordanix1871: Yeah

Jordanix1871: This is one of the few areas

Jordanix1871: That I actually...

Jordanix1871: ...used the Bonfire Ascetic

Jordanix1871: To bring everyone back

Jordanix1871: Because they dropped Titanite

Jordanix1871: Some of them do

"Welcome to hell AKA the next area"

Oh

That's fucking promising

Jordanix1871: "There's a character that sings the song"

Jordanix1871: "Also don't wander too far into the water"

Jordanix1871: "And fall off to your death"

Gotcha

I expect to do that many times

Jordanix1871: Did you ever find the place do drop off that stuff?

Yes I did

And I did drop all of those off

Jordanix1871: And the Petrified Somethings as well?

Yep

Cool

Oh fuck, two of them

THREE of them

Jesus Christ!

Don't wanna be here!

Oh lord

Nope, not that way

Maybe I'll confuse them if I run through this house

(hearty laughter)

Ah, that's funny

Jordanix1871: (chuckles)

Uh oh

They found me

Jordanix1871: Figure you're in hell, boss?

Jordanix1871: Aw, man!

He was pissed that I locked him in that door!

Jordanix1871: I saw that, yeah

Jordanix1871: He still got a stab though, through it!

Jordanix1871: That's hilarious

Jordanix1871: If you were a smart man

Jordanix1871: You would have run around to the other side, though

Jordanix1871: If there was time

Jordanix1871: Oh they're here, they're here!

Jordanix1871: They're here to collect!

No that's where I was going

I was going for the other door

I was gonna try and lock all three of them in

Jordanix1871: Nice

Like, "Here, Milfanito, you take care of them"

"Three more friends"

Jordan1871: (laughs)

Jordan1871: Feminine wiles

Yeah!

Where are you going?

Walking out into the water

Jordanix1871: I gotta ask you, though

Jordanix1871: Why do you carry a shield with you, anyway?

What do you mean?

Jordanix1871: I never seem to see you use it...

Um

Jordanix1871: You just stand there taking hits

Jordanix1871: Like you're somebody

I can't tell if you're chirping me, or...?

Jordanix1871: (laughs) I am!

Jordanix1871: No, it just seems like...

Jordanix1871: I don't know if the shield damage

Jordanix1871: Just doesn't come up, but...?

Um

Jordanix1871: I'm like, "Get that shield up, Rocky!"

Jordanix1871: "Get it up!"

Jordanix1871: And you're like, "Eugh! Eugh! Eugh!"

I think it's become rarer and rarer

What I'm doing is I'm wailing on the dodge button

Not the shield button

Jordanix1871: Ahhh

I think it's because he's so fucking slow

Getting his shield back up

Jordanix1871: Yeah, yeah

Like he'll stand there, and he'll look at it

In his hand...

And he'll think about love long past...

"You need a giant shield"

Jordanix1871: I think you should just give up on shields

Jordanix1871: After the Eagle Shield

Jordanix1871: Because there's nothing out there that'll...

I know, right?

Jordanix1871: That'll make you happy

Yeah, see I could get away with the Eagle Shield

Because it was fairly light

And the carry weight didn't actually kick in

Until after a certain percentage

Jordanix1871: Mhm

Jordanix1871: I don't think there's anything through the fog gate

Jordanix1871: Except for more...

Jordanix1871: ...shrine

Jordanix1871: Oh, "Bonfire ahead", nice

Jordanix1871: Oh the bonfire, I think

Jordanix1871: Is in the building to the right

Also, a lot of the time that I shield things

I take damage anyway

Even though my shield's up

Jordanix1871: Yep

Jordanix1871: Yep

So it might look as though I didn't get my shield up, but...

Jordanix1871: Ahh, gotcha

You know

Oh, those guys drop Twinkling Titanite

So I can actually farm that

Jordanix1871: Remember I said

Jordanix1871: This is one of the two places

Jordanix1871: I use a Bonfire Ascetic?

Yeah, yeah

Was it specifically for Twinkling [Titanite]?

Jordanix1871: Yep

Jordanix1871: That's the only reason I did it

Jordanix1871: (sarcastically) No, because I just enjoyed this area of the game SO much

Jordanix1871: It's just so wonderful

I can see why!

I just got my fucking head bitten off

By a giant knoll

Jordanix1871: Oh yeah, yeah

Crunch!

Oh, he's getting right in there!

He had me for supper!

Jordanix1871: (laughs) I heard that special sound!

Jordanix1871: I just heard it!

Well he didn't even spit the sword out or anything

He just...

He's gonna have a rough night tonight

Jordanix1871: (chuckles)

Jordanix1871: Oh, that's awesome!

Jordanix1871: He looks like such a hungry, hungry hippo!

Yeah, he fucking ate me whole!

(laughs)

I tried to close the door on a monster's face

He wasn't having that

Absolutely not

Let's try this again

But I got the 12 Estus now, so...

...I can do what ever the fuck I want

Jordanix1871: Oh, was there another Estus Shard down here or something?

No, I have them all now

Jordanix1871: Okay

12 Estus shards and +5

Jordanix1871: Gotcha

Jordanix1871: He's so polite when he closes those doors

Jordanix1871: Makes sure not to slam it and everything

He's like, "Oh, pardon me!"

"No, come in!"

Jordanix1871: (laughs)

Jordanix1871: It's like, "No, you come in!"

Jordanix1871: "No, you first!"

He's so embarrassed!

Jordanix1871: (chuckles)

Oookay

No, that's coming in the next few minutes though

Oh, I'm getting brave now

Jordanix1871: I think through that fog gate is just another bonfire

Jordanix1871: I don't think it's a boss

Jordanix1871: I could be wrong

Jordanix1871: I've been wrong before

Jordanix1871: Oh, you made it through!

Jordanix1871: Whatever it is

Yep

These boys don't like it very much, though

Jordanix1871: You did run by a whole pile of them

I am very surprised they let me rest

At the bonfire

Jordanix1871: Oh, nice

Okay

This is an interesting area

That I want no part of whatsoever

And I'm being invaded!

Awesome

What the fuck is even happening in this area?

And there he is, coming across the water!

Jordanix1871: I like how you're starting to take the passages around

Jordanix1871: I am here for the exploration

The guy's just standing there watching me

Get Soul Arrow'd to death

Jordanix1871: (laughs)

Just fucking kill me

Just kill me

There we go

Like I don't need seven guys shooting

Soul Mass Arrows at me

And then him peppering me with different dark magics

And...

Jordanix1871: Uh huh

There's a type of game I like to play

And that's not it

Jordanix1871: (laughs)

Jordanix1871: Oh man, you took that arrow straight to the back

Jordanix1871: Because you were taking a big ol' swig

Yeah

Do you know the direction I should be taking?

I just see a really big open arena here

Jordanix1871: I think you'll keep getting invaded

Jordanix1871: Until you take that guy out, so...

Really?

Jordanix1871: I think so

Jordanix1871: I mean, I spent my whole game

Jordanix1871: As a 75%-health zombie, so...

Jordanix1871: And I constantly got invaded, I think

Yeah

But it seems like a weird progress, then...

Jordanix1871: Yeah

Jordanix1871: Yeah it do

Drink more, drink more!

Jordanix1871: Heh

Oh Jesus ffffffucking Christ

Alright, homie

Let's fucking do this

Yeah I know you're just waiting for me to...

...get my shit wrecked

Jordanix1871: (laughs) Just hitting it back!

Pounding 'em fucking back!

Get over here!

Jordanix1871: Ahh, man

Jordanix1871: So hard to watch!

How do you think I feel?

Jordanix1871: I'd have to say backstab, I don't know

Oh!

Jordanix1871: Hoh, what!?

Jordanix1871: You're back to full health

Jordanix1871: And then I hear that specific sound of you dying!

Jordanix1871: Wazzup?

Well, there were a couple times that I was down to nothing

And then I'd just pound three Estus

And then I was back again

But...

Jordanix1871: (laughs)

Jordanix1871: Alright, so you're gonna try to

Jordanix1871: Lure them back to dry land

Jordanix1871: So you can fight him by his lonesom

Jordanix1871: Up on land, and not be in the water?

Oh, I was considering just being a fucking idiot

For a while longer

Jordanix1871: (snickering)

"Need help?" I might just...

I'll try...

...being a fucking normal human Dark Souls player

For a minute here

And then...

Ah, yeah, this one sees me already

(laughs) I took four swigs that time!

Jordanix1871: (chuckles)

Alright, you fucker

It's time for you to die

"Invader banished" (tired sigh)

What the fuck?

I think there's something else attacking me

Jordanix1871: Ah yeah, the things in the water

Maybe, I dunno

Jordanix1871: Those gremlins, yeah

Jordanix1871: They'll jump up at you

Okay, yeah I see them

Jordanix1871: They're hard to...

I like how they have no hitbox at all

When they're in the water

Jordanix1871: (chuckling)

Just fucking great

I dunno if they're respawning in the water, or what

But there's a frigging billion of them around here

Jordanix1871: That there is, boss

Jordanix1871: That there is

Like, who... wrote this area!?

Jordanix1871: Mmm

Fuck everything out there

I see a fog door

Jordanix1871: I think it'll be a boss

Jordanix1871: And I think it'll be quite easy

I have 3 Estus

That's wonderful

Jordanix1871: Well, we don't want it to be too easy

Jordanix1871: So yeah

Jordanix1871: Have you figured out to hit him in the head

Jordanix1871: When he reveals his face?

Yep

Jordanix1871: Okay

Jordanix1871: Mhm

Doesn't matter how long I roll away

He still seems to hit me

I'm just gonna take it in the face this time

Jordanix1871: Alright!

Jordanix1871: All about the hitbox

Jordanix1871: Respect the hitbox

Jesus Christ

Jordanix1871: They're just saying roll under

Jordanix1871: When he does the jump thing

Yeah, that works

If he throws himself forward

Jordanix1871: Man, he's on the run

Jordanix1871: Sweet

Dark Souls remastered: part 30~Fighting the hydra! - Duration: 31:43.

I think this is what was opened just a moment ago

is that a boar?

it is indeed

a fucking boar

holy shit, boar

it is, indeed. Hey, would you calm down?

I'm gonna go, I was just leaving

see ya

can't you go out?

you, stop moving

you're not very smart

you're strong, though. A big deal

it's like an invisible wall

almost got hit

still alive

my god

fang boar helm

and a thousand souls. They're generous

where's this new helm?

there it is. Wow, it is quite heavy

and only physical, bad against everything else

never mind then

not another one

please don't

looks like there is another one

fuck, this asshole's gonna kill me

I'm sorry, but...

if you want to come here, we will fight

shit, it's already turning

it might take me an hour, but...

probably with a strenght based weapon and build...

it will take half the time

and with these many attacks, the uchigatana is gonna break

I don't know if there's a better way of killing them

you might be able to poison them so that they keep losing health

let's try to...

that's it, a bonfire

so that we can warp

without doing this again

although maybe we should go back now

cause they sure are tough here

and why not just go to the forest?

the other option is the catacombs

or...

yeah, there's another option

I know

I know what we're going to do

I think we need to kill a boss

so that we can play the dlc

I do

we need to kill it

this boss, I think

is an optional one

let's give it a go

actually, I just changed a place with boars for a boss

I don't know how that's better for me

wow, I didn't remember you trees

but I have many souls

and fighting a boss with them might not me a good idea

so let's make a pit stop

we'll go to the cat's forest in the future

we went a bit...

yeah, cause we had to go to blighttown

so I didn't want to dealy that by exploring

that was it, actually

we need a few souls, so let's kill some foes

there are a few here

I think we had to use over 20K already

these will do

I think they give 600 souls, but don't trust my memory

yeah

lemme kill another one, cause I don't know the exact figure

it's just one more

with the damage we do now, I can play more aggro, and that's cool

I had to wait for the miracle to wear off and all that before

not any more, you see

bonfire

let's continue with our plan

there are more foes in the way now, though

it's just the broccoli guys

they're not a challenge now

it wants me to fall

they're like, come on, attack me

they're evil as that

these drop a lot, it's amazing

specially since we're human

I don't remember the path

oh, down here

from up there you could get a bow, I think

good times, when this place was a challenge

the place, not the boss

that's next on our list

a strange noise

let's kill these first

I think that's the boss

I'm sorry, but if you're bugged there...

I destroy you

yeah, there it is

it's a hydra

holy cow

I wasn't hit by an inch

what I don't know is whether we'll need that ring

the one for walking in the water, cause that's water, right?

it does look like it

well

I'm gonna try to get closer

yeah, we're too slow

I waas using the shield, but apparently that's not a problem

we need the ring

which means... right

we can go and tank the shit out of him

let's give it a go

yo, it didn't hit me

so, how do we kill you

fuck, fuck, fuck

I think we got it

they're too far away

I think we severed one head

too far. Oh, it's right here

yeah, look

I don't know where the heads are

I don't know if we can get closer

oh, there was one there

is it just me or is it random?

when there were many, it was easier to hit it

with so many, at least one would land close to us

but not any more

well, I have no souls

things that suggested I was gonna fall down

just right there:

I'll check the recording, but I don't think there was one (there is)

that's lame as shit, tbh

it wasn't too obvious, that's for sure

now, where are the souls? Next to the

really big drop?

a vortex to another world

here comes another one

god knows where the souls are. Tiny place, you know?

oh, that killed it

brutal

problem is, I'm its next objective

well, my souls are there

let's go get them first

dammit, I'm stupid

it would be great to have a good memory

let's wait for it

we're on our way

I have some humanities, so...

one down

I don't wanna get close sorry

let them come, I don't trust this

cause I hadn't reached

the only area that could look like we we're gonna fall, which is the one with the foam

that's the only change

hey, asshole

wanna come here?

well, 100%

I don't know where it is

that's the problem, sometimes they even get behind you

I don't know...

there was one

let's focus on this one

if it comes to the same spot

right

let's stay here, we shouldn't fall down

it won't go here anymore, great

thanks

yo

stop taunting me

just one more, I think

fuck

dragon scale and dusk crown ring

and some souls, right?

5000, well, don't get too generous

what's this ring for?

grants extra spells, halves max HP

good for you

okay

this is not where we came from, right?

actually, what needed to be done in order to get to the dlc

I looked it up, cause it's not intuitive at all, and I wanted to know

cause if you beat the game without playing the dlc, you gotta start again (ng+) to get to play the dlc

how high is this?

so, I think you gotta kill the hydra, and then talk to someone

and I don't know how, which is a problem

that's something I don't know, where to find that person

and I think it was at the shore

the problem with the shore is that at some points, boom, you just died from sinking with your cement shoes

there's an item there

that's true

it was a small way up

or down, more like both

there's an item there. But...

can we go there?

cause I can't tell where we can go and where we can't

oh, alright

this is the main entrance

I get it

here it stood

the hydra

so now we have to find a person, a woman I think

a knight set

I wonder where she is

god dammit, this was not far at all

my freaking god!

here it was quite narrow, and still no way to know

thanks a lot for...

for all these moments

my guess was that I had the same distance, which was much bigger, but nope

it was right there

like right there
