US military to send 5,200 troops, helicopters, heavy equipment to border - Duration: 7:10.
The U.S. military announced Monday that, by the end of the week, it will send 5,200 active duty troops to the southwest border, as well as helicopters and heavy equipment to build new barriers, to meet a request from the Department of Homeland Security to augment resources in anticipation of the arrival of two caravans of migrants currently in Mexico
The deployment of active duty service members was triggered by President Trump's remarks last week that he wanted the military to get involved in dealing with the caravan of migrants from Central America
On Monday, Trump, who has made the caravan and immigration a top issue ahead of the midterm elections, tweeted that the caravan of migrants included "Many Gang Members and some very bad people" and that they would not be allowed to enter the United States unless they went through "the legal process"
"This is the invasion of our country and our Military is waiting for you!" he added
In announcing the deployment, the head of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) cited concerns over the migrant caravans as reasons why his agency was adding 1,000 personnel along the border and requesting assistance from the Department of Defense
McAleenan said the caravan in Mexico now numbers 3,500 people and cited a second group of 3,000 that has become a concern because it has had violent interactions with security personnel as it attempted to enter Mexico Sunday
"We want to be ready for that," he said. "We think this opportunity to harden our ports of entry, to be ready for mobile deployment between ports is a better way to prepare for the potential arrival of a large group like this
" Gen. Terrence O'Shaughnessy, the commander of U.S. Northern Command, told a Washington news conference that 800 soldiers from Fort Campbell and Fort Knox in Kentucky were already en route to Texas as the first wave of Operation Faithful Patriot
"I think the president has made it clear that border security is national security," said O'Shaughnessy
"That's the direction we are given. That's the direction we are marching to. Our orders are very clear
We are engaged and here to support CBP. We are going to secure the border." He described the 5,200 troops to be deployed as just "the start of this operation" that could be adjusted as needed
According to O'Shaughnessy, the active duty troops will help "harden" the border using the Army Corps of Engineers and construction units that will build vehicle barriers and fencing
Like the 2,100 National Guardsmen already deployed in a similar mission, the active duty troops will not carry out law enforcement duties, since that is prohibited by the federal law kn9own as Posse Comitatus
"Everything that we are doing is in line with and adherence to Posse Comitatus," said O'Shaughnessy
As part of a 45-day mission, the active duty forces will begin arriving in ports of entry in a support role and then move onto other support projects like construction of temporary housing for Customs and Border Protection personnel, medical support and use helicopters to transport CBP officers to hard to reach areas along the border
The helicopter units will also use their sophisticated equipment "to spot, identify groups and rapidly deploy CBP personnel where they are needed
" Northhcom has already begun pre-positioning gear to the border area. "We have enough concertina wire to cover up to 22 miles, already deployed already to the border," said O'Shaughnessy
"We have additional concertina wire that we can string, with over 150 miles available
" About 1,800 active duty forces are planned to be sent to Texas; 1,700 to Arizona and 1,500 to California said multiple U
S. officials. The specific states were selected to match the support requirements made by Customs and Border Protection
Last week, in an exclusive interview with ABC News, Vice President Mike Pence would not rule out the option of closing down the border ahead of the midterm elections
Asked if the president is mulling an executive order to stop all immigration at the border, Pence said: "What we need to do is secure our border
The president will take steps to do that. But we also need to reform our laws." McAleenan denied that the deployment of additional CBP and U
S. military personnel was triggered by American political concerns. "This is a law enforcement operation from CBP 's perspective," he said
"And we partner with DOD all the time to help secure our border." Last Friday when news of the deployment of active duty troops was first reported, officials had said that as many as 800 to 1,000 forces might be sent to the border
A U.S. official said that number was an initial estimate and that as planning developed the numbers increased

Chinese Subversion & Corruption of U.S.A is Deep and Far Reaching - Duration: 15:08.
Hello and welcome to Declassified,
I'm your host Gina Shakespeare.
Today on the show, Chinese subversion of the United States is deep and far reaching.
Please feel free to subscribe to Declassified,

this story is by senior investigative reporter from the Epoch Times, Joshua Phillip.
For decades, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been subverting the United States by
infiltrating, undermining, and influencing its key institutions.
This topic is only recently coming to the surface.
Vice President Mike Pence said on Oct. 4,
"Beijing is employing a whole-of-government approach to advance its influence
and benefit its interests."
He added that the CCP is working to influence U.S. elections and domestic policies,
and "today, the Chinese Communist Party is rewarding or coercing American businesses,
movie studios, universities, think tanks, scholars, journalists,
and local, state, and federal officials."
But if we take a look at some of the examples of the problem,
it become much more real, starting with censorship and theft in U.S. business.
With the subversion of businesses,
the CCP is forcing U.S. companies to
abide by its domestic censorship programs.
On April 25, the CCP's Chinese Civil Aviation Administration
sent a letter to 36 foreign air carriers demanding they change the descriptions of "Taiwan,"
"Hong Kong," and "Macao" to follow CCP propaganda.
The White House responded to this demand on May 5,
with the press secretary saying,
"This is Orwellian nonsense,
and part of a growing trend by the Chinese Communist Party
to impose its political views on American citizens and private companies."
Many companies also agree to follow CCP censorship.
Google and Facebook are examples of this,
since even though they're blocked in China,
they have both agreed at times to take down content for the CCP.
There has also been plenty of chatter about Chinese economic theft.
But did you know that some U.S. companies
are forced to knowingly hand over intellectual property to access the Chinese market?
A 2017 U.S. government survey of the integrated chip industry
found that 25 companies were forced to form joint ventures with Chinese companies,
and transfer their technology.
The United States has lost close to $1.2 trillion from intellectual-property theft,
mainly from the CCP, over the last three years, according to The Hill.
That number doesn't even include patent infringement.
The CCP has even gone to the source with this type of theft,
and according to former senior U.S. Naval intelligence officer John Jordan,
China's Ministry of State Security has agents in Silicon Valley assigned for this purpose.
There is also spying on customers, and this goes to the chip level of devices.
Bloomberg recently claimed the CCP was spying at the chip level
on Amazon and Apple devices.
Examples of the CCP spying by through supply-chain threats goes back much farther, however,
and includes chips, firmware, infected apps, data-sharing programs, and other vulnerabilities.
The Epoch Times has reported on this since at least 2010.
Next step, subversion of films and entertainment
As part of its focus on "culture warfare,"
the CCP has also subverted Hollywood and the U.S. entertainment industry.
The U.S.–China Economic and Security Review Commission
reported in October 2015 that "China views film as a component of social control,"
and that when regulating film,
"the CCP's concerns are positioned above all other interests."
Films are screened by the CCP's State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film, and Television,
which decides whether they can be shown in China,
and filmmakers are actively catering to the administration's policies.
Some filmmakers are agreeing to co-produce films with the administration,
which gives them a stronger chance of entering China,
but also ensures the films fall under the CCP's laws on films and censorship.
CCP laws on films include requirements, among many,
that they need to have at least one scene shot in China,
cast at least one Chinese actor,
and illustrate "positive Chinese elements."
Anything that shows the CCP's human-rights abuses,
poverty, totalitarian social monitoring,
or other serious issues aren't allowed to be shown.
Under CCP censorship law,
Hollywood also can't show the United States or U.S. military in a positive light.
This is serious when you consider
how much of the U.S. film industry either is directly owned by Chinese companies,
such as through the Dalian Wanda Group,
or has agreed to work with the CCP.
Next step, influence of US universities and education
Through financing, research partnerships, and other joint programs,
the CCP has also managed to subvert American universities.
Foreign Policy reported in May,
"On campuses across the United States,
funding gaps are leaving departments with little choice
but to turn to those groups with the deepest pockets—
and China is keen to offer money,
especially through its global network of Confucius Institutes."
This money comes with a price, however,
since the CCP takes its Faustian bargain as an opening
for censorship and influence.
Foreign Policy, for instance,
noted that the co-director of Savannah State University's Confucius Institute
has directly engaged in censoring information on Taiwan.
Then there are the Chinese Student and Scholar Associations (CSSA),
which are often openly financed and directed by Chinese consulates.
The CSSA pressure Chinese students and block events in American universities,
based on CCP censorship programs.
In one case at the University of California– San Diego in 2017,
the local CSSA tried to block the Dalai Lama from speaking at commencement.
The Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars
released a report documenting cases of Chinese embassy officials
trying to infringe on U.S. academic freedoms.
It states, "Over the past two decades,
PRC diplomats stationed in the United States
have infringed on the academic freedom
of American university faculty, students, administrators, and staff."
The CCP has done this by "complaining to universities about invited speakers and events;
pressuring and/or offering inducements to faculty
whose work involves content deemed sensitive by the PRC authorities"
and other methods, the report says.
Sometimes, the CCP's pressure includes threats and intimidation of professors.
Subverting academia and policy
At think tanks,
which have a role in shaping government policy,
the CCP has made significant efforts to push its interests either through funding,
through partnerships, or by influencing the academics involved.
Bill Gertz at The Washington Free Beacon reported on Aug. 24
that one of the CCP's main overt spy agencies, the United Front Department,
is actively involved in operations to influence think tanks in Washington.
He cites a congressional commission report,
stating the CCP "employs tens of thousands of operatives" to promote its policies,
and includes "paying several Washington think tanks,
with the goal of influencing their actions
and adopting positions that support Beijing's policies."
The report says the CCP
"has sought to influence academic discourse on China
and, in certain instances, has infringed upon—
and potentially criminally violated—
rights to freedoms of speech and association
that are guaranteed to Americans and those protected by U.S. laws."
As an example, Gertz notes that Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies
receives funding from Tung Chee-hwa,
a vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference,
which directs the United Front Department.
"The funding for Johns Hopkins came from Tung's non-profit group in Hong Kong...
which is a registered Chinese agent," he writes.
Gertz notes China ties exist with Brookings Institution,
Atlantic Council, Center for American Progress,
EastWest Institute, Carter Center,
and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
When it comes to the academics themselves,
the CCP actively pressures them to self-censor.
Academics who break CCP censorship policy,
including on the regime's serious human-rights violations,
risk being blacklisted from China.
Major news outlets are even actively promoting CCP propaganda,
disguised as paid inserts meant to resemble legitimate news content
from the CCP's China Daily state-run news outlet.
The paid inserts have in the past defended
the CCP's often brutal human-rights violations
and excused its crackdowns on religious liberty.
Sometimes, the paid inserts correspond with broader pushes.
This has included paid inserts in The New York Times and other outlets,
alongside paid broadcasts from CCP state-run media in Times Square
to defend the CCP's military push into the South China Sea.
Part of this was run through the Xinhua news agency,
which the Trump administration in September ordered to register as a foreign agent.
Let that sink in for a moment:
Foreign agents interested in shaping U.S. public opinion
are paying major news outlets to republish propaganda.
This doesn't just tie to CCP government policy.
It also ties to its military doctrine,
under its "Three Warfares" system
of psychological warfare, legal warfare, and media warfare.
The goal of Three Warfares is to alter how people interpret information,
create legal blockades to defend CCP actions,
and control people's exposure to information through its influence on media.
"The 'Three Warfares' were injected into a section of guidelines
that has been consistent since at least the 1963 revision,
which directs the Political Work Department,"
according to the website War on the Rocks.
The Diplomat reported that under the Three Warfares doctrine,
the CCP creates "cognitive maps" that then "guide the direction
and character of tailored influence operations,
including conversion, exploitation, or subversion."
In conjunction, the CCP's propaganda department
"broadcasts sustained internal and external strategic perception management campaigns
through mass media and cyberspace channels
to promote specific themes favorable for China's image abroad."
And for the final segment today,
foreign agents and political control
In addition to all these systems to control information,
silence academics, influence policy, censor news outlets,
and pressure students,
the CCP also has programs to more directly influence U.S. political circles.
Among the groups behind the CCP's subversion of elite circles is the Committee of 100.
Epoch Times columnist Trevor Loudon said the group
"regularly sends delegations of American journalists to China and facilitates meetings
with high-level government and business leaders."
Chinese consulates also engage in direct pressure on U.S. politicians,
and The Epoch Times has documented cases in which U.S. representatives have received calls from the CCP,
which attempts to pressure them over their stances on the Chinese regime's human-rights abuses.
Cognoscenti Group reported that
"Chinese political warfare and influence operations
actively target foreign governments, organizations, groups,
and individuals to shape their perceptions and behavior."
"Driven by its political goals,
Chinese influence operations are a centerpiece of the PRC's overall foreign policy
and military strategy," it states.
The Washington Free Beacon reported, "China has enfolded many former U.S. officials as
part of its lobbying efforts and influence operations.
Gertz said China has used coercive measures on Americans to serve its own interests."
Gertz said in the story that the CCP's efforts "have literally changed the direction of
American foreign policy toward China."
The Project 2049 Institute detailed the CCP's political-warfare operations
in an October 2013 report, stating,
"Political warfare is a critical component
of Chinese security strategy and foreign policy."
On the significance of this, it states,
"Political warfare seeks to influence emotions, motives,
objective reasoning, and behavior of foreign governments, organizations, groups,
and individuals in a manner favorable to one's own political-military objectives."
That's all the time we have for today,
thank you very much for watching.

US Politics in 60 Seconds - October 29, 2018 - Duration: 1:18.
Hi, it's Ben White, chief economic correspondent for Politico, with your US politics in just 60 seconds.
All right, let's start the clock.
Republicans are certainly concerned that it's going to slow whatever momentum they had after
the Kavanaugh nomination.
It's certainly dominating the news and will be on everyone's minds as they head out to the polls.
If Democrats take the House, they've promised to make protecting transgender rights a top priority.
I think they'll pass it in the House if they take control.
The future after that, unclear.
Suppression they should certainly worry about, particularly in Georgia, where we've seen
multiple reports of attempts to suppress the vote.
Voter fraud is almost nonexistent in this country and they shouldn't worry about it at all.
Final question:
Well, the main issue is Trump.
The second issue is Trump.
The third issue is Trump.
It's all about the president in the midterms.
But in terms of other issues, healthcare number one.
Economy – as usual – number two.
That's your US politics in just 60 seconds.
I'm Ben White.

Pentagon To Deploy 5,000 Troops To US-Mexico Border; 'Operation Faithful Patriot' Underway - Duration: 3:49.
The Pentagon is expected to deploy 5,000 troops to the border between the United States and
Mexico in anticipation of the migrant caravan marching toward the country.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the new figure of 5,000 troops is a significant
bump from initial reports, which stated that the government was planning to send 800 troops
to the border.
The mission, which the Pentagon has named "Operation Faithful Patriot," will entail
the 5,000 troops being stationed at ports of entry and working with Customs and Border
Patrol agents.
The outlet reports that the troops will assist Border Patrol agents and also likely provide
medical tents, cover, and resources.
Under the latest plans, about 1,800 troops will go to Texas, 1,700 to Arizona and 1,500
to California.
The troops will be drawn from about 10 U.S. Army installations and consist largely of
military police and engineers, one of the U.S. officials said.
U.S. Marines also will be deployed, the U.S. official said.
Some already have begun to deploy to the area and most are expected to serve there until
mid-December, a Pentagon official said.
The additional troops would mean that the number of U.S. forces deployed at the border
would be greater than those currently in Syria and Iraq, and roughly half of those deployed
in Afghanistan.
A Pentagon spokesman called any figures about troop deployments "premature."
Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Kevin McAleenan said Friday that the agency
is updating plans to deal with a mass migration situation, which may include temporarily holding
and processing migrants at facilities if the caravan arrives.
The caravan is estimated to include roughly 8,000 men, women, and children that are marching
toward the U.S. from Guatemala and Honduras.
President Donald Trump has also threatened to send American troops and completely close
the U.S. southern border if Mexico allows the caravan of migrants to reach the boundary
between the two nations.
Trump has called the migrant caravan traveling from Central America toward the United States
a "national emergency."
The president also threatened this week to pull U.S. aid to Central America if the governments
do not do more to prevent the group of migrants from traveling north to the U.S. border with
Mexico.
In fiscal year 2017, American taxpayers gave around $248 million in aid to Guatemala, $175
million to Honduras, and $115 million to El Salvador.
Trump pulling over $500 million in U.S. aid would be a big move, and it appears the president
is on the verge of taking action if these nations do not immediately begin disbanding
the migrant caravan.
Despite Democrats claiming that the U.S. response to the reported 10,000-strong migrant caravan
should be "welcoming" and "tolerant," many Americans support the Trump administration's
decision to secure the border and defend it.

Watch as Fox Caravan Reporter Stumbles Onto Attempted Murderer on Camera - Duration: 3:03.
The caravan of migrants intent on crossing through Mexico and entering the United States
is moving ever closer to its goal … but there are increasing signs that not everything
is as presented by the establishment media.
Ever since the mass of people — nearly 10,000 according to some estimates — began traveling
out of Honduras, liberals have insisted that it's America's duty to accept them with
almost no questions asked.
Considering that a high number of the migrants do not have passports or verifiable identification,
questions have been raised about this plan, including by the president himself.
Of course, anybody who has dared ask how smart it is to bring a horde of unvetted people
over the border has been labelled a racist or a heartless bigot.
An eye-opening video from Fox News correspondent Griff Jenkins may silence those critics.
On Sunday, Jenkins shared a man-on-the-street interview he did with one of the thousands
of migrants who are currently in Tapanatepec, Mexico.
"Are you willing to break the law to get back to the United States?"
Jenkins asked a man named Jose, with the help of a Spanish interpreter.
To the reporter's surprise, the man admitted that he had a major felony.
"I want to enter and ask for a pardon," the migrant answered in Spanish.
The translator confirmed the statement.
"He says he wants to apply for a pardon for the felony he committed."
"What is your felony, exactly?" the translator asked.
"Number three," Jose answered in English.
"A third degree felony," the translator confirmed.
"Intento de matar," the migrant continued.
Translation: "Attempt of murder."
It's worth pointing out that this was just one of thousands of people, many with unknown
backgrounds, in the massive caravan.
If he was willing to talk to a reporter and admit on video that he had a felony for attempted
murder, how many other criminals were in the same crowd but avoiding the cameras?
This is the glaring problem with opening the border to the caravan: It's the perfect
cover for less-than-noble people who want to use the crowd as a tactic to enter the
United States unvetted.
Jose was at least upfront about his criminal background to one reporter.
What about the people who are not so honest?
To be sure, there are also good people in the caravan.
Most probably are genuinely looking to escape hardship and have a better life — but without
being able to separate the bad apples from the rest, there are serious problems.
The entire point of a controlled border is to have at least some idea of who is entering
the country and to know about their backgrounds.
If we toss that basic protection aside, all bets are off.
There is no country without borders, and the United States has enough problems without
ushering in attempted murderers to placate the left.

120 Migrants Busted Headed to the U.S. Border in Tractor Trailers - Duration: 2:45.
Authorities in Mexico thwarted an attempt at smuggling approximately 120 migrants from
Honduras into Texas via long-haul tractor trailers, according to new information coming
on Sunday.
Mexican authorities noticed that the tractor trailer was being guarded, a tell-tale sign
of human trafficking, and after an investigation, discovered nearly 50 migrants in the trailer,
and around 70 more hiding in the woods nearby.
An investigation reportedly indicated that the smugglers, who charged migrants between
$2-7K individually, planned to illegally traffic their human cargo over the Texas border and
into the United States.
The migrants were not believed to be part of the caravan of Central American migrants
currently heading towards the United States through Mexico, but the interception came
just weeks after Mexican authorities prevented a similar smuggling attempt.
From Breitbart:
MONTERREY, Nuevo Leon – Mexican authorities disrupted a human smuggling attempt aimed
at moving more than 120 Central American migrants to the Texas border.
The group, which included at least three pregnant women, is not part of the large migrant caravan
from Honduras.
Mexican immigration officials deported about one-third of the group in recent weeks.
The arrests took place this week in a wooded area near the municipality of Galeana, Nuevo
Leon.
Agents with Fuerza Civil police force spotted a tractor-trailer that was being guarded by
an old jeep.
Authorities went to the vehicle and interviewed the driver of the tractor-trailer and his
front passenger.
Soon after authorities found close to 45 Central American migrants inside the tractor-trailer
including three pregnant women.
In the surrounding areas, authorities found additional groups of migrants from Honduras
and Guatemala who were all headed to Texas.
As part of their investigation, Fuerza Civil agents were able to learn that the human smugglers
planned on multiple tractor-trailers to move the entire group to the border city of Rio
Bravo, Tamaulipas.
They would then be smuggled into Texas.
The foiled attempt comes just weeks after Nuevo Leon state authorities detained 336
migrants from Central America who were in the process of being smuggled from Monterrey
to the Texas border, Breitbart News reported.
Thirty of the migrants from that group had made their way back into Mexico and were captured
in the most recent operation.

Republican congressman time to body slam Democrats midterm hopes US news
Remarks by Jody Hice come after Trump praised Montana congressman's assault on Guardian reporter
Remarks by Jody Hice come after Trump praised Montana congressman's assault on Guardian reporter
A Republican congressman has called for the Democratic midterm election campaign to be "body-slammed".
In a video posted online by Georgia Democrats, Georgia's Republican congressman Jody Hice begins by telling an audience in Watkinsville that "the time has come" to stop Democrats, who are favored to regain control of the House of Representatives on 6 November.
He adds: "We watched for eight years as the Obama administration gradually dismantled everything you and I believe in and pushed his own socialist agenda. The time has come. The line has been drawn in the sand. And that agenda has to stop. It's time for this so-called 'blue wave' to be body-slammed."
The remark drew applause from the crowd where Hice was speaking at a campaign event for Brian Kemp, the Republican gubernatorial nominee in Georgia.
Neither Hice nor Kemp immediately returned requests for comment.
Hice's comments followed Donald Trump's recent praise of an assault on the Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs, who was body-slammed to the floor and punched by the Republican congressman Greg Gianforte of Montana on the eve of his special election to Congress last year. After initially lying to the press and police about the attack, Gianforte pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to community service, anger management class and a fine.
"Any guy that can do a body slam, he's my kind of – he's my guy," Trump said of Gianforte during a rally in Missoula, Montana, earlier this month. Trump suggested the unprovoked attack helped Gianforte's electoral prospects and mimed a body-slam before going on to praise the Republican as "a tough cookie".
The comments come amid a fraught debate over whether inflammatory rhetoric from the president and elected officials has contributed to a rise in political violence. On Saturday, 11 worshippers were massacred at a synagogue in Pittsburgh. The attack came in the wake of a mail-bomb campaign targeting Democratic lawmakers, prominent liberal figures and CNN – all of whom have been repeatedly demeaned by Trump.
Trump again on Monday labeled the press "the true enemy of the people" and blamed journalists in part for the "anger in our country". The White House press secretary, Sarah Sanders, defended the president on Monday and accused the press of wrongly blaming Trump for the divisions in the country.
"The very first thing that the president did was condemn the attacks both in Pittsburgh and in the pipe bombs," Sanders said, during a tense exchange with reporters. "The very first thing the media did was blame the president and make him responsible for these ridiculous acts."
In the closing weeks of the midterm election, Republicans have sought to cast Democrats as "an unhinged mob". They seized on comments by the former attorney general Eric Holder, who urged Democrats to take a more combative approach to opposing Republicans. He later clarified that his remarks were in no way intended to advocate violence.
Democrats and liberal observers have called the Republicans' charge hypocritical, arguing that Trump has condoned violence and personally insulted political opponents at his rallies.
Hice is a two-term congressman from a heavily conservative district in eastern Georgia with a history of controversial statements, including his belief that it is appropriate for a woman to run for office "if she is within the authority of her husband".<br>
