Trey Gowdy Told The Deep State Their Time Is Up

Republicans are racing against the clock.

Deep State agents are purposely stalling the investigation into the FBI's conduct during

2016 in the hopes that the Democrats will win the midterms.

So Trey Gowdy stood in front of the camera and issued a warning to the Deep State that

their time was up.

Republican investigators continue to unravel the Deep State's cover-up about the FBI

using the fake news Russia dossier to investigate Donald Trump.

The FBI said they had dropped Steele as a confidential human source because he hadn't

told the truth about his dealings with the press.

But the latest bombshell is the revelation that ex-British spy Christopher Steele continued

to communicate with the FBI using DOJ official Bruce Ohr as a backchannel, whose wife Nellie

had worked with Fusion GPS on the dossier.

Republicans have been working to obtain the texts and emails between Steele and Ohr, but

the Deep State actors within the DOJ are slow-walking their requests.

Now Congressional Republicans have reached their breaking point.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy appeared on Fox News and dropped the hammer

on the Deep State.

"Think about Chris Steele who has just been dismissed from the FBI because he cannot follow

their rules and regulations and his communication with someone in the Department of Justice…[who]

is not involved in this investigation…so of course we want to talk Bruce Ohr and Nellie

Ohr – who oh, by the way, was working for Fusion GPS, the firm that hired Christopher

Steele to dig up dirt on Donald Trump," Gowdy stated.

Gowdy then described how Deep State actors in the Department of Justice had refused to

make employees available for interviews.

Gowdy explained that a list of potential witnesses was sent to the DOJ and that, "So far that

has fallen on deaf ears."

"Chairman Goodlatte is a patient man, but we have run out of patience," Gowdy concluded.

This is a massive scandal.

And the so-called "mainstream" media is working to cover it up.

The FBI has yet to provide real answers about their relationship with Steele and how the

Bureau used the dossier in the Russia investigation.

Critics believe the FBI and DOJ ignoring Congresses requests for witness testimony and documents

is not a good-faith move.

Trump supporters contend it's because both agencies are terrified of the public reaction

once their conduct is made public.

Even RINO Republicans like Lindsey Graham are getting fed up.

Graham reacted to the bombshell developments about Bruce Ohr by blasting the FBI's Russia

investigation as corrupt.

"When it came to the Trump campaign, it was corrupt, it was biased and I think unethical,"

Graham declared.

Do you agree that the FBI's investigations into Donald Trump and Russian collusion are

corrupt?

US GDP data, China bank results, Air France strike - Duration: 5:16.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Here are the top stories we'll be watching this week.

Data will be out on the US economy,

giving more clues about where Fed policy is heading.

Air France-KLM faces a threat of more strikes

hitting the airline.

The level of bad loans will be a key focus when China's banks

reveal second quarter results.

And China also faces criticism from the UN

over racial discrimination.

First to the US, where economists

expect second quarter US growth to be revised slightly

lower when data are released on Wednesday,

down to 4% from an initial reading of 4.1%.

That would still mark, however, the fastest rate of growth

in four years, fueled by consumer spending and business

investment.

Following the initial GDP release in July,

President Trump declared it an economic turnaround

of historic importance.

He has levelled criticism against the Fed

for raising rates, and so the Central Bank should do more

to help him boost the economy.

Investors are now focused on the second half of the year,

with some economists projecting 3% growth

over the six-month period.

It remains uncertain, also, if trade will

prove a drag on the US economy.

The FT's News Editor Peter Spiegel has this analysis.

Well sometimes these figures can be slightly misleading.

Remember, the second quarter figures

of 4.1% that were the initial reading was gangbusters.

I mean, when was the last time the US economy grew

at a quarterly basis of over 4%, or any developed country

economy for that matter these days.

The problem is that there is this dark cloud

of trade tensions hanging over the US economy

that no one really can quantify.

Thus far, it has not hit the market certainly,

and we haven't seen it impact GDP figures or any

of the ancillary economic figures.

But the Fed has very clearly signalled

it is worried about the way the trade war will impact

the US economy going forward.

And they're also concerned, they do not have the firepower

anymore to fight it if it does force the US economy back

into a slower growth area.

Obviously, they're moving towards normalising rates.

But they're not at that level yet that suddenly they

can cut rates to an extent that it

would help the US economy that is hit by a trade war.

On Monday, Air France-KLM's restive French unions

are meeting to discuss whether to continue their strike

campaign.

More strikes would be an unwelcome start

for newly announced Chief Executive Benjamin Smith,

who takes up the job at the end of September.

Air France's unions have already taken industrial action

on multiple occasions this year, costing $335 million euros

in the first half.

Their rejection of a payoff had lead

to the previous chief executive's resignation.

The Dutch counterparts, meanwhile,

though welcoming Mr Smith, are also

considering strikes at KLM.

Here's our transport correspondent Josh Spero.

I think the chances of the union striking after Monday's meeting

are pretty high.

They've done a lot so far, and nothing has stopped them.

And it could be terrifically damaging to Air France-KLM

because as a group, it's not especially harmonious.

KLM is supporting it with its profits,

and Air France is actually losing money.

So any more strikes are only going to make this a lot worse.

The company has the French state behind it

as a big shareholder, which makes the unions always

think there'll be someone to bail them out.

The problem is, the French state might decide not to.

That's risky for the unions because if they don't, then

the airline could easily be broken before the unions are.

Turning now to China, its banks have, over the past 18 months,

faced a clamp down from regulators,

with rules to curb out-of-control lending

and risky funding.

This week, we'll see clues about how

this is affecting the sector when China's four biggest

commercial banks post second quarter earnings, including

Agricultural Bank of China, where investors will want

to see how the country's third largest lender plans

to tackle rising bad loans.

China also faces the possibility of more criticism

from UN human rights experts.

This week, the UN Committee on the Elimination

of Racial Discrimination concludes a month

of meetings, where it has been examining

reports in countries, including Bosnia, Cuba, and Montenegro.

Concerning China, the committee says

it has credible reports that the country has locked up

more than one million Uighurs in internment centres

in the Northwestern frontier region of Xinjiang.

The FT's James King has more.

Uighurs are an ethnic minority in China.

They're mostly Sunni Muslim.

And the United Nations' report says

that the reason that the Uighurs are being locked up

is purely because they're being treated as enemies of the state

based on their ethnoreligious identity.

The UN statement also said that Xinjiang is resembling

a massive internment camp.

China, for its part, has rejected the UN criticism,

saying that this is completely untrue.

It did admit that some Uighurs have

been moved into re-education camps,

and this was simply to put them right

after they'd been misled by religious extremists.

What's really interesting about this topic,

though, is that at the moment, it's

only the United Nations which has made a criticism of China.

As far as I'm aware, no other national government

has made a criticism of China thus far.

And that's what the week ahead looks like from the Financial

Times in London.

US senator John McCain dead at 81 - Duration: 6:45.

US senator John McCain, a celebrated war hero known for reaching across the aisle in an increasingly divided America, died Saturday after losing a battle to brain cancer, his office said

He was 81.  "Senator John Sidney McCain III died at 4:28pm on August 25, 2018. With the senator when he passed were his wife Cindy and their family," his office said in a statement

"At his death, he had served the United States of America faithfully for 60 years

"  In July 2017, McCain was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer

One year of treatment failed to prevent his condition from worsening and on August 24 his family announced that he had chosen to discontinue medical care

"Sen McCain, thank you for your service," read a sign near the driveway of his home in a rural part of Sedona, Arizona, television footage showed, as a police escort accompanied the hearse that was to carry his body and local residents came bearing flowers for the late political titan

"My heart is broken. I am so lucky to have lived the adventure of loving this incredible man for 38 years," Cindy McCain wrote on Twitter

"He passed the way he lived, on his own terms, surrounded by the people he loved, in the place he loved best

"  Following the announcement of his death Donald Trump offered his "deepest sympathies and respect" to McCain's family on Twitter

Former President Barack Obama also issued a statement paying tribute to the 2008 Republican nominee

He wrote: "Few of us have been tested the way John once was, or required to show the kind of courage that he did

But all of us can aspire to the courage to put the greater good above our own.   Alternatively affable and cantankerous, McCain had been in the public eye since the 1960s, when as a naval aviator he was shot down during the Vietnam War and tortured by his North Vietnamese communist captors during 5-1/2 years as a prisoner

He was edged out by George W. Bush for the Republican presidential nomination in 2000, but became his party's White House candidate eight years later

After gambling on political neophyte Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate, McCain lost in 2008 to Democrat Barack Obama, who became the first black US president

McCain, the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, was a frequent critic as well as a target of his fellow Republican, Trump, who was elected president in November 2016

McCain denounced Trump for among other things his praise of Russian President Vladimir Putin and other leaders the senator described as foreign "tyrants

"  "Flattery secures his friendship, criticism his enmity," McCain said of Trump in his memoir, "The Restless Wave," which was released in May

John McCain | Five key dates in the life of the Navy pilot-turned-politician  McCain in July had castigated Trump for his summit with Putin, issuing a statement that called their joint news conference in Helsinki "one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory

"  He said Trump was "not only unable but unwilling to stand up to Putin."  Sources close to McCain have said Trump would not be invited to the funeral

McCain, a foreign policy hawk with a traditional Republican view of world affairs, was admired in both parties for championing civility and compromise during an era of acrid partisanship in US politics

But he also had a famous temper and rarely shied away from a fight. He had several with Trump

He was the central figure in one of the most dramatic moments in Congress of Trump's presidency when he returned to Washington shortly after his brain cancer diagnosis for a middle-of-the-night Senate vote in July 2017

Mccain obit  Still bearing a black eye and scar from surgery, McCain gave a thumbs-down signal in a vote to scuttle a Trump-backed bill that would have repealed the Obamacare healthcare law and increased the number of Americans without health insurance by millions

Trump was furious about McCain's vote and frequently referred to it at rallies but without mentioning McCain by name

North Korea newspaper blasts 'double-dealing' US after Trump cancels Pompeo's trip - Duration: 2:20.

North Korea's state-controlled newspaper on Sunday accused the United States of "double-dealing" and "hatching a criminal plot" against Pyongyang, after Washington abruptly canceled a visit by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo

Negotiations have been all but deadlocked since U.S. President Donald Trump's summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore in June

Pompeo has pressed for tangible steps toward North Korea's abandonment of its nuclear arsenal while Pyongyang is demanding that Washington first make concessions of its own

North Korea's Rodong Sinmun newspaper said U.S. special units based in Japan were staging an air drill aimed at "the infiltration into Pyongyang", citing a South Korean media outlet

"Such acts prove that the U.S. is hatching a criminal plot to unleash a war against the DPRK and commit a crime which deserves merciless divine punishment in case the U.S. fails in the scenario of the DPRK's unjust and brigandish denuclearisation first," the paper said

"We cannot but take a serious note of the double-dealing attitudes of the U.S. as it is busy staging secret drills involving man-killing special units while having a dialogue with a smile on its face," it noted

A spokesman at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul said he had no information on the drill alleged in the newspaper

The U.S. military spokesman in South Korea was not immediately available to comment

The editorial, which did not mention the Pompeo visit, urged Washington to give up the "pointless military gamble" and implement the Singapore agreement, in which the leaders pledged to work towards a complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula

Since the summit, the two sides have struggled to narrow differences over the North's nuclear weapons program

Pyongyang is calling for a declaration of peace as part of security guarantees designed to encourage it to abandon its nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles, while the Trump administration says a peace deal and other concessions will only come after more progress on denuclearisation

In part to reassure North Korea, Trump canceled or delayed joint military drills with South Korea, but smaller exercises continue

Trump partly blamed China for the lack of progress with North Korea and suggested that talks with Pyongyang could be on hold until after Washington resolved its bitter trade dispute with Beijing

China expressed "serious concern" about Trump's comments, which it called "irresponsible"

Gerard Pique's brutal message to La Liga about US move after Valladolid win - Duration: 4:21.

Football News24/7  Barcelona's 1-0 win away at Real Valladolid on Saturday evening will not live long in the memory

Ousmane Dembele scored the only goal of a scrappy game which was pretty much ruined by the state of the pitch

The grass was laid the day before the game and cut up instantly. By the end of play, it was torn to shreds

Amazingly, all the players avoided any serious injury, despite a ridiculous amount of divots waiting to twist a knee or an ankle

The fact that Lionel Messi, Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez all struggled to even dribble with the ball tells you all you need to know about the state of the pitch

And Gerard Pique didn't hold back in his assessment of it, firing some serious shots at La Liga in the process

The Spanish centre-back said to reporters on the pitch after the final-whistle: "This pitch is deplorable, it is shameful

I hope those in charge fix it, because it was lamentable."  ""They want to take games to the United States, but the first thing they need to do is worry about what is at home

The state of the pitch was shameful. Deplorable."  I'm sure a lot of players in Spain's top-flight will applaud Pique's bravery

The issue of moving certain La Liga games to the US has sparked mass debate, with the 20 club captain set to refuse to commit to the plan

For the sake of modern football, let's hope they succeed.  Barca's win in Valladolid also saw one of the most brutal VAR calls of all time

The hosts - who have only just been promoted - thought they had snatched an injury-time equaliser and their first goal back in the top-flight

But VAR eventually ruled the goal offside, despite Keko celebrating wildly and actually taking his shirt off

You can watch the whole incident below.  A moment Keko will want to forget and a game Barca must be glad is over
