So i had originaly planed to hike a few km past Kebnekaise mountain station but

I checked the weather forecast and talked to some people here and

The wind is going to be upwards to 23m/s in the gusts

and the wind is going to blow right through the pass

so that makes it probably worse

so this will mean that I have to walk past the Singi cabins to find a reasonable camping spot to pitch my tent

and this will be to long to hike today

So i wild camp here at Kebnekaise

I found a camping spot that is somewhat protected from the wind here among the trees

This will have to do

and hope that I will get some sleep tonight anyway

this is real mountain weather right here

Good morning

The time is about 7am and I just had breakfast

I'm just going to pack up my things and then head of to the Singi cabins

I'm here at the Sälka Cabins and just took a cup of coffee

I'm going to continue a few km to see if I can find a good camping spot

that is somewhat sheltered from the wind

it was really cold during the night

maybe around 1C or so

as you can see behind me it has been snowing on the peaks during the night

the autumn really is coming

I'm going to eat some breakfast

I think it's about 6am

and then I'm going to hike towards the Täktja pass, it's about 4 km left

a bit unclear what the plan is today

I think I'm going to hike past Alesjaure

that makes it about 30km today I think

Soon all the way up here

it's snowing a bit but it's the end of august

it's cold and fresh

watch out for the camera

I've eaten some lunch

they also offered some coffee and brownie

that tasted really good

the weather forecast

i'ts apperently going to be like this during the rest of the

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is the case

and not be strong winds and raining like the past 2 days

I thought I would summarize the day

after lunch it stopped raining and the sun came out

and the kings trail showed itself from it's best side

it was really nice and it has been like that all afternoon

and now people are starting to end their hikes for today and pitch their tents

but I thought I'll use the nice weather to put in some extra km today

so that I only have like 30km tomorrow to the finish line

I always think that the first and second day

is always a bit slow

the feet and legs are hurting and the trail legs are not really there

but like today the third day it feels much better

I feel more alert mentally and physically

and that I can relax more mentally

when I'm hiking

it takes about 2 days before I can relax mentally

like yesterday

my thoughts were really not here but at home

I couldn't really relax and enjoy the hike and the nature

of course today there was the bad weather that didn't make things better but

it wasn't a good day of hiking anyway

but today its completely different

and I can just enjoy the hiking

and I feel that I can recharge my batteries mentally

instead of being drained

the last checkpoint before Abisko done

the offered pancakes and coffee

tasted super nice

and I stayed only for about 5-10 minutes

and I'm now on my way to the finish line in Abisko

Classic Peruvian Food - Eating Pollo a la Brasa at Pardos Chicken in Lima, Peru - Duration: 10:59.

So we have another food video coming at you.

Yeah.

Another day another food video here from Lima, Peru.

This time it is something exciting because we've never made a food featuring a very famous

dish here called Pollo a la brasa.

Yeah.

Which is basically rotisserie chicken.

So we've gone by this restaurant it is a chain called Pardos Chicken and apparently they

specialize in this dish so we're going to head there and we've come to Larcomar one

of our favorite malls to come and hang out here.

Yeah.

With the beautiful views.

So many good restaurants here.

We've located Pardos (Polleria Pardos) and we're going to order that special dish along

with some other things here today.

Well the drinks have arrived.

Hello hello so we are all settled in at that restaurant.

We've ordered our chicken and we're waiting for that to arrive.

But in the meantime we got our drinks.

We both got Chicha Morada but two different versions.

Yeah.

So I went with the classic you know your purple corn juice.

Peruvian purple corn juice.

Mmmm.

So good.

And then we saw that they had a frozen version which looks a bit like a slushy.

So we just had to try it.

Yeah so Sam got this one.

So do you have a preference between the two?

You know what?

This one is more sour.

It is more lemon-y.

Okay.

I feel like they've squeezed a lime or done something.

But this one is sweeter.

That is the classic then.

This one is more refreshing.

Okay.

So they are both really good.

Is what I'm trying to say.

They do it in different ways.

Yeah so these are the drinks.

Alright Sam.

First side dish.

Side order.

Exciting times.

The first side dish has come and this is called rejitas de camote.

Yeah.

Basically these are sweet potato crinkle chips.

Yeah.

And my goodness they look good and they are fresh out of the oven or whatever they were

cooked in.

Freshly fried.

Freshly fried I should say not oven.

Fresh out of the oil.

Because they are warm to the touch.

So I've got some different sauces here.

Yes.

I think this might be the aji one.

Yeah.

The yellow one is definitely aji.

Your Aunt told me that they have really good aji sauce here.

Yeah.

Let's try that.

It looks very creamy.

Oh.

Mmmm.

Oh my goodness.

They are really crispy on the outside but then mushy as you bite into it.

So much flavor like and they've it has been nicely lightly salted too.

Oh my goodness.

That is so good that I'm going in for a second.

A second one.

So the food is here.

The food has arrived.

This is what we came for.

It is so much bigger than I thought it was going to be.

Like we got the medium sized one.

This is the half chicken.

You can get a quarter and you can also get a full one so this is the medium sized one

and it is gigantic.

It comes with I think some golden yellow potatoes as well.

Yes.

And so yeah I'm just going to go in for the pollo a la brasa.

Oh la lah.

Wow that looks so juicy.

And It is roasted with um rotisserie chicken and it is supposed to have a smoky flavor.

This is honestly my first time to try it.

I want to get some of the crispy skin on the outside.

Oh wow.

It is so juicy I can tell already.

I've had it before but always as delivery.

Oh!

So it is never quite as fresh.

My gosh that is so good.

It is crispy on the outside and a little bit greasy.

And then you bite into it and you've got like the soft tender chicken and a bit of a smoky

flavor.

You know what?

I'm going to try another bite.

This time I'm going to dip it into a the aji sauce.

Yeah.

Wow!

There we go.

Dip it in there.

Get in there.

Oh it is even better with the sauce.

Yeah?

Yeah.

It gives it a spice.

And now to try the golden potatoes.

Yes.

So you can tell they are really crispy on the outside here.

Looks like very fibrous potatoes.

So I'm just going to get myself a little small bit.

Oh that aji sauce is potent.

Haha.

It is like burning.

It is burning on the back it is really hitting me.

I'm going to have some more of it though because you can never get enough aji sauce.

Oh my gosh I took it for a swim.

Oh man.

You are getting more than you bargained for there.

Mmmm.

So in I go.

This is the main dish we came for.

So I'm going to try some as well.

Yeah.

Even though I ordered a different chicken of my own.

Yep.

So let's see what this is all about with potato.

Mmmm.

And with the crispy bit.

My goodness.

For someone for like a person to come here and eat that on their own you'd have to be

really hungry.

Like it is such a bit portion.

Wow.

I can't get over it.

Honestly I think the skin is my favorite part.

Yep.

Like the skin just has a wonderful flavor.

It is coated in spices.

And that is what gives it the smoky flavor.

It is crispy.

It is a little greasy.

It goes down nice.

Yeah.

Yeah.

This is really good.

And like we mentioned this is a chain.

Yeah.

You can find Pardos Chicken all over Lima.

Yeah.

And elsewhere in Peru and I'm pretty sure they've expanded to some neighbouring countries.

Yeah.

When I was looking it up online it formed it started in the 1980s.

1986.

1986.

So my dish has also arrived and I got the Chicharrón de Pollo.

I got a small portion just with 4 pieces.

And basically it is chicken.

Yep.

Kind of like covered in a batter and then deep-fried.

Right.

And it comes with two pieces of white corn and yellow potato.

Yeah, we've already had the yellow potato so you can just try the corn for us.

Let's take a moment to admire the size.

The giant size.

The grains or kernels.

I'm not sure what you'd call these.

Yeah.

This is like the size of my nail.

I know.

Seriously they are gigantic.

So big.

You don't find corn quite like anywhere else outside of Peru.

In Peru they are so big.

Peru is so uniquely large and good here.

Alright I'm going to take my chicken and just dip it in the aji sauce.

Dip it.

The sauce is so good.

Dunk it in there it is so good.

Mmmm.

Is that nice?

It is like creamy and spicy at the same time.

So it is quite a different type of chicken than the other one.

Mmmhmm.

It is super lean.

The chicken is super lean meat.

This is probably chicken breast here.

Yeah.

How about the corn?

The corn is nice.

Yeah the corn is good too huh?

Yeah.

Look at that thing.

It is gigantic.

Corn makes an appearance in most dishes in Peru.

Yeah.

So I've been eating a lot of corn since we arrived here.

It is a staple for sure.

Yeah.

You get it a lot when you have anticuchos.

Yep.

When you get the cow hearts on a skewer.

Yeah.

It always comes with corn.

I think it goes great with meat because it is just kind of refreshing and juicy.

Mmmhmm.

Yeah.

So yeah this is great.

This is fantastic.

I'm really pleased so far.

And we didn't even talk about your salad.

No.

So Sam's main came with a salad.

And we had two choices.

We could choose the fresh salad which I believe was tomato, lettuce and radishes.

Right.

Or we could choose the cooked salad um which is kind of like steamed vegetables.

Right.

So this one is carrots, green beans and beetroot.

Yeah, getting our veggies in with our meat and carbs.

It is always a good thing.

We've also got dessert on our minds too.

The beetroot is so sweet.

Is that nice?

Wow.

That is awesome.

Mmm.

Okay so I'm sharing my meal with Sam now.

Yep.

Sharing is caring so I'm going to try yours.

Oh it is nice and stringy.

The Chicharrón.

Oh I was looking for them.

Haha.

I stole them.

This kind of reminds me of popcorn chicken.

I was just thinking that.

Oh my gosh.

It does.

Like giant popcorn chicken though.

Yeah.

Yep.

Alright so I'm going to try the choclo.

The giant corn here.

Let's take a huge bite into it.

Mmmm.

Check that out.

Like just the size of those kernels is insane.

So good.

Yeah.

Alright and let's try a bit of greens.

Get a little bit of something healthy in.

One little salad.

I feel like we're really neglecting the potatoes in favor of the salad.

I know.

It goes to show how much potato we've been having these last few days.

That is another thing that you have in almost every Peruvian meal.

They somehow find a way to get potatoes in there too.

Potatoes, rice.

Potatoes, rice and corn make appearances very frequently.

Yes.

Mmmm.

Alright we're going to take a moment and just enjoy now.

Yep.

Alright and because our mouths are bigger than our stomaches.

Lemon pie.

Sorry our eyes are bigger than our stomachs.

Our mouths.

That too.

Nice.

We got some lemon pie.

The size of the merengue on top of this pie is impressive.

Is a thing of beauty.

I know.

That is a very Peruvian way of making the lemon pies here because they are massive.

I also remember it when we had it at Manolo's that the merengue was huge too a few years

ago.

It is so like fluffy.

Like a cloud.

Like a cloud.

That is really good.

And I would say it is more sweet than sour.

Yep.

More sweet than tart.

And yeah the lemon part of the pie has kind of like a pudding like consistency.

Yeah.

It is pretty good.

Great way to finish things off for sure.

Mmm.

Alright it is that time price point.

And before I even tell the price check out how many leftovers we're taking as takeaway

for your Grandma.

Yeah, we barely we could only eat half of what we ordered to be honest.

That was a lot of chicken.

Huge!

A lot of food.

There were so many sides.

It was huge.

So many sides.

Yeah like it ended up coming to 81 Soles so that included the two drinks all of the mains

and side dishes that you saw plus a dessert at the end.

And honestly we could have definitely ordered less.

So 20 basically 81 Soles is $25 US dollars.

Yeah.

We could have ate for less than $10 US per person if we ordered less.

So really good value and another bonus tip.

We came at 12.

We were the first customers in here.

Now it is just past 1 and check it out.

It is absolutely packed.

I know some people are having trouble getting a table.

People are having trouble and we've also it is not just here but we've noticed that in

other popular restaurants in Peru too that if you come at 12 you can easily almost always

find a seat.

You come at 1 and it is packed.

So that is a tip for you guys.
