Dressing like a princess takes careful planning, but the Duchess employs a series of cunning tricks to help her while undertaking Royal engagements

It has been revealed the Duchess wears tights with sticky pads on the bottom in order to avoid her shoes falling off mid-way through an engagement

According to reports in The Sun, Kate has been seen wearing John Lewis tights with built in sticky pads so there is no risk of slipping

Kate has been seen wearing the non-slip tights since 2011, and they come in a variety of shades, including nude, black and tan

They are also very affordable at a price of only £5. Kate's new sister-in-law Meghan Markle has also garnered praise for her fashion sense, and has adapted her wardrobe seamlessly to mirror her new Royal role

Royal expert Victoria Arbiter commented on Royal sartorial protocol, stating: "You never see a Royal without their nude stockings

"Meghan, from what I can see from the engagement photographs, it doesn't look like she was wearing tights or stockings

"I would say that's really the only hard, steadfast rule in terms of what the Queen requires

" However, at her first Royal engagement after marrying Prince Harry in May, she was seen wearing tights with a light dress at Prince Charles' birthday celebration at Buckingham Palace

Meghan has previously broken Royal protocol by posing for selfies on a visit to Cardiff, where she also shook hands with the public

Non-slip tights are not the only clever fashion trick that has been adopted by the Royals

To stop skirts from being blown around in the wind, female members of the Royal Family wear weighted fabrics or clothes that produce higher levels of static

This prevents their attire from moving according to Myka Meier, an etiquette expert

Meghan Markle also apparently wears shoes that are too big to stop them rubbing and causing her to develop blisters

Rozzie Style: Local Fashion Inspiration in Roslindale Village - Duration: 10:12.

Hey everybody, thanks for joining us today. My name is Hilary Sullivan, I'm a

board member with Roslindale Village Main Street and we are here today to

talk with Cheryl from Threads on Birch Street.

So we're here today with Cheryl from Threads right here on Birch Street. And let's start by having you tell us

about what your business does and what customers could come in here for. We do,

we sew. We do dress making and alterations and sew just about anything.

People will come in with their ideas, pictures, or drawings even and we recreate them.

What are some of the special events that you help people get ready for?

Oh, everything weddings, proms, Quinceañeras, big puffy dresses, God just about

anything. Like I said, anything people come in to to have done, we can do it.

How can Roslindale residents support your business. They do! Word-of-mouth,

that's how its run the whole time I've been here and it continues that way.

Definitely that's how I heard about it the first time. Do you have social media

that you'd like to have people follow, anything like that? I really don't,

I'm telling you, word of mouth. Now are you a Roslindale resident? I am not, I did grow

up in Jamaica Plain, so I'm close by.

Awesome, what do you think makes Roslindale such a special

and unique community? Well the time that I've been here, everybody's just nice,

everybody helps each other, they really do. And the businesses do as well, I mean

I love my spot just because of the flowers and little park right in front

of us. So why have you kept your business in Roslindale for all of these years?

Again, nice area, people are great, I have a big clientele of repeat customers

always and there's no reason to leave. Oh great, and I don't want you to leave!

We're here today with Guy and Silvana Ragusa from Sebastian's Hair Salon.

So let's get started by having you tell us what your shop does. Well primarily our

shop is a barber shop/salon. We do a lot of haircutting for men and women, we

do some coloring as well and hair styling and that's what we've been doing

for a very long time. So tell us about the array of services that you provide

We're mainly a barbershop but we do have some cosmetology services as well

because we have a hairdresser on staff. We do coloring, cutting and styling

and your basic men's hairstyles, shaves, beard shaves and various men's

haircuts of all different shapes and sizes. And being in

the Square for such a long time, I imagine that you have a lot of customers

who have been coming here for a while? Yes many generations, I mean still

customers that my dad had when he was working here, he stopped working here in

2002, 2001 or 2002, but still some of those customers are still around and

still coming back. So do you have clients of all ages come

in here? Oh yeah, yep little kids, infants, first haircuts are our

specialty. Yeah, Guy's the king of little kids hair, I mean they all are in

here, but I think Guy has like a special touch. Awesome. And do you

sometimes see a range of you know cutting hair of a grandparent, a parent...

Multigenerational? Yeah, and a child? So when my dad was here back in the day, he had like

a little red car and it was on a pole so he would cut the kid's hair in it and

then you know we put it on display in the window.

And I had one customer come in and say 'I used to get my hair cut in there' and he was

older and it was just really neat, you know. And then we'd have customers

come in with their kids, you know and they will put their kid in the chair and

they take a picture, so it's it's nice. A family affair. Yeah, yeah, and

I mean our customers that come in, they come in either to say hi, read the

paper and of course they'll get their haircut

but it's just nice how we interact with our customers, and they're

just really easygoing and no fuss. Awesome, so let's talk about Roslindale,

so your dad took over the business in 1984, so over the past 30 years, what have you seen

change over that time? Changes in just the storefronts, and I mean

businesses come and go. It's nice to still see some of the long term

businesses in the square stick around. And there's there's such a strong

business community here, are you friendly, do you know a lot of the other

business owners, do you work together in any way? I mean just from seeing being in

the Square every day and walking around the Square and seeing all the different

employees and owners on a almost daily basis, so yeah I mean it's

pretty tight-knit.

So we are here today with Jakaya and Charnae from V2III boutique and excited

to be talking with you. So let's start off by having you tell us what your

business does and what customers visiting could expect from you? So we're

a fashion and art boutique. We sell a lot of like local and independent designers

clothing and art. We also print garments, so we print t-shirts and sweatpants, etc.

You can find anything from t-shirts, hats, sneakers, artwork everything's for sale

here and the majority of things for sale like I was saying are from local

artists from Boston and surrounding areas.

So when customers come in to the business, what is something that you

think surprises them, what do people not know about what you're doing in here?

I'd say a few thing, that the arts for sale. They always admire the art, like that's

pretty cool and then when they find out that it's for sale, they're always blown

away. And that a lot of our clothes are made from local designers as well. And

how can residents support your business? I'm sure shopping, coming in for the

first time coming back, but what are other things that residents can do?

I think just coming by, you know showing support on our social media, which they

normally do. We love that we have a lot of events here, so just suupporting those events.

Events are normally free to the community. So yeah I guess just kind of

showing your face, like Charne said. We like interacting with the people, so sometimes

just stopping in and you know kind of getting familiar with the people of

Roslindale, I think that's better than a sale any day for us. Absolutely. Any other

services that you provide that you want to share? Yeah so we actually provide

printing services here. We do screen printing or vinyl printing and you can

come in, we'll put your logo on a shirt. We actually are in the process of

offering it to a lot of up-and-coming new clothing brands or designers, so if

you're new up-and-coming brand, you're looking to get your product started or

you know some brand work, you can stop in the store and we'll help you out with

that. Awesome. So you mentioned that you hold events, what kind of events

do you hold? We do a lot of art events and pop up shops. So with us

hosting so many designers, we get inquiries all the time but it's hard to

take in everyone. So for the ones that we may not be able to host or we don't know

about, we offer a pop-up shop every month where they can kind of come in, we take

everything out of the store, and they take over the store for the day. We use

it as an opportunity to scout new talent, new merch and just meet new people and

hopefully find more products to put into the store as well. Very cool.

Any chance you are hosting art for Roslindale Open Studios. Yes, we do want

to be a part of that this year. Last year, we just missed it but I heard great

things about the event and we're looking forward to it this year.

Thanks for joining us everybody! Hope you enjoyed our video series. If you'd like

The Inspiration Behind David Bowie and Lady Gaga's Fashion - Duration: 2:43.

- [Narrator] Do you recognize these outfits?

They all have one thing in common:

(steady post-punk music) Bauhaus.

Yes, they all take inspiration from a 1920s design movement

which originated in Germany.

This is how block buildings affected fashion.

Bauhaus: translated from German as building house.

It started as a school in Weimar, Germany,

and it gave birth to buildings like this.

The lack of ornaments and push for clean lines

affected other spheres of art,

such as ballet,

and fashion.

Almost 100 years later,

these influences still permeate the fashion realm.

- I'm Anne Gorke and I'm a fashion designer

following Bauhaus aesthetics in my work.

- [Narrator] Despite their differences,

both approaches have the basic features

of Bauhaus in common.

- [Anne] One is the very expressive way,

and probably also the most known,

comes from the Triadische Ballet.

And it got famous from David Bowie,

and then Lady Gaga.

The other side, though, is my way of approaching to fashion

is more aesthetically more silent way:

very straight silhouettes, straight lines, symmetric lines.

- [Narrator] Despite their differences,

both approaches have the basic features

of Bauhaus in common.

The geometric shapes and lines, the colors,

and a need for collaboration.

All present in the initial Bauhaus school of the 1920s,

and in its initial architectural constructions.

- [Anne] While working or doing my collections

I learned more and more that I had a strong connection

to my upbringing in Weimar

and my studies at Bauhaus University.

I think what mostly shaped me was

to grow up and to live within these buildings,

like the campus and the Van-de-Velde-Building,

you see all these great shapes and clean lines.

Simple construction but, so powerful.

There's sort of a spirit here.

- [Narrator] And while its origins may be German,

Bauhaus is present in catwalks all over the world.

- [Anne] Yves Saint Laurent did that

with the Mondrian collection, the Mondrian dresses.

And recently Alexander Wang did, too,

and had some very obvious visual references to the Bauhaus.

It's more than just an art form,

it's an understanding of living

and there are so many movements

that came afterwards that reference to that.

Because it's timeless.

Years & Years on Embracing Your Sexuality, Fashion & More! | Life Advice | TRL - Duration: 3:25.

- Hey, we're Years & Years, and we're gonna be

like Frazier for the next five minutes

and help you with your lives.

- Giving life advice.

(upbeat music)

- Shoot, what's the first one?

- So @danrevnolds says "Do you have any advice on how to

accept my sexuality and myself?"

So this is quite a deep one.

I think it takes a long time, and it's like, it's not

gonna happen all at once, so you just need to like,

put these like, things in place that like,

make you feel good about yourself.

So you have this awareness that like, you do something

good for yourself every day, if that makes sense,

and I think eventually, you kind of

get better at like, accepting yourself.

- "Olly, I love your style" says Katie Van Buren.

- [Olly] Thank you.

- "You always wear things that are so fun and that seem

to be so true to who you are.

How can I learn to do this too?"

Well, Katie, get a stylist.

- Oh wow, we can't give that advice.

- Or...

- If you can't afford a stylist, then...

- Just have fun.

- Customize your clothes.

- I used to always customize outfits. I would go to school

- Yeah.

- when I was in secondary school, I would go and like,

paint on my clothes, or like put safety pins

when I had like a goth moment, I'd wear makeup to school,

and like choker necklaces and stuff, like trying to,

just cause for me, clothing is like a way

to express yourself, and it should be fun.

That's how I always think, I wanna wear something

that makes me feel like an invincible alien.

- "Should I quit my job and follow my dreams to travel

around the world?" From Clay Taylor.

- I think Clay should do it.

- I'd like to know the job, just in case.

(laughs)

- Why, in case it's a really good job?

- Well if he's like a heart surgeon

and he like, just quits.

And someone's on - In the middle

the operating table - of an operation

I would hate - Yeah, it's like screw this.

for that person to, you know,

to die. - That's true.

So, but yeah, you should quit.

- If it's not gonna harm anybody, or yourself,

yes, then you should follow your dreams

to travel the world.

- Phlegmma the Flake.

- She said, she's asking "How to be more confident,

and care less about what other people think?"

That's a hard one.

- Surround yourself with people you love,

and who love you.

Friends, family, and rely on them.

Don't be frightened to accept their support.

- Yeah, and sometimes like, I fake it a lot.

Like, I'm faking being so confident a lot of the time,

but I think after a certain point, you kind of

just like, you, what am I trying to say?

- Fake it to make it.

- Yeah, you fake it till you make it, like it becomes real

because you're like oh, I'm just gonna be so out there

and so confident.

- I used to care a lot and then, when I hit my 30's,

I'm gonna reveal the secret that I'm 30,

it really slowed down.

- You're not gonna care anymore.

- I'm like, whatever.

- Okay, so she has another question, "Also, equally serious,

how can I be Beyonce?"

- You can't. You can't.

There's no way, there's literally,

it's literally impossible. - You

could invent like...

- A cloning technology that...

- Yeah, you get a strand of Beyonce's hair, and...

- Download her into like, some sort of mainframe.

- Yeah.

- And then re-upload it into your body.

- That's probably the best way.

- There you go.

That was it, that was the last question!

- Oh, we ended on that.

- So, we are scientists, thank you

for watching our life advice.

We've been Years & Years.

- Don't take any advice.

- Don't take our advice.

- Don't, disclaimer.

Make Fashion Good: Yuri Afanasiev, UN Resident Coordinator in India - Duration: 3:09.

Textiles and fashion represent the second biggest employer in India

and throughout the world it's an industry worth over 2 trillion dollars.

Today, we are also going to talk about a sustainable circular economy

and how textiles, fashion and the circular economy are linked.

The Sustainable Development Goals are all about how we consume and how we produce

in a different manner than we did for the last 200 years.

Inspite of that, textiles and fashion

represent a tremendous opportunity for India

whereby, circular economy concepts and recycling materials

can be brought into the textiles and fashion industry

thus turning it a little bit more sustainable.

This industry is also responsible for about 8 or 9 per cent

of the global emissions of CO2

and have a direct linkage with climate change.

But today, hopefully we can find common answers

to how we can move this forward.

And in that sense, the jacket that I'm wearing today-

and this is our third year of collaboration with Lakme Fashion Week-

has been produced sustainably in Nagaland

and was designed by a wonderful Naga designer

who is working in Delhi now with tremendous success.

In that regard, colleagues, friends, thank you very much.

I wish you today, a great discussion,

a great presentation,

and I hope that we will launch together a number of supply chain initiatives in India.

Especially in the North east and other places, perhaps in Odisha,

and show together that the industry can be sustainable,

can be responsible, can be fair, can employ

millions and millions of men but especially women across India

and bring them a fair income for sustainable livelihoods.

We should also focus on how this industry,

in the coming years will turn and become a central part of the circular economy in India

which potentially can be worth 700 billion dollars.

All the best to you. I hope, I wish I could be with you today.

But I hope that you will come up with the right answers today and in the months to come.

All my very best.
