History of the iPod Classic - Duration: 12:13.

Hey guys, it's Greg with Apple Explained, and today we're going to explore the history

of the iPod Classic.

This topic was the second place winner of last weeks voting poll and if you didn't

get to vote, make sure you're subscribed, that way the voting polls will show up right

in your activity feed and you can let me know which video you'd like to see next.

So the beginning of the iPod Classic line actually dates back to the original iPod released

in 2001.

Now at this time, Apple was still enjoying the success of their iMac and was looking

to follow it up with another hit product, and they put their money on the iPod.

A device that was miles ahead of any other music player on the market.

And that's part of the reason why Apple decided to release a portable music player, they saw

a huge gap in the industry and recognized it was ripe for disruption.

Now I should mention that the first generation iPod wasn't actually called the iPod classic.

It wasn't until the last generation when Apple finally gave the iPod line the Classic

suffix.

Now there are a total of six generations of iPod Classic, including several special edition

models.

And despite the design and functionality differences of every generation, they all had one thing

in common - a 1.8 inch hard drive that was incredibly thin and compact.

And it was this component that allowed for the first iPod model to be created, because

up to that point, there hadn't been a high-capacity hard drive small enough to fit inside a pocketable

device.

So the original iPod's hard drive had a capacity of 5GB, or about 1,000 songs.

And we're going to find out how the iPod went from 1,000 songs in your pocket in 2001,

to 32,000 songs in your pocket by 2007.

The first iPod was available for sale on November 10th, 2001 and people were eager to get their

hands on the new technology.

It could be purchased for $399, which is $564 in today's money.

So it was definitely a premium device, but many people were willing to pay for its premium

features.

It held 1000 songs, which was really impressive at the time, featured a 2" monochrome LCD

display and a 5GB hard drive.

But the most revolutionary feature of the iPod was the scroll wheel.

It made scrubbing through your music library quick and effortless, and surrounding the

wheel were four function buttons: Menu, skip forward, skip backward, and play/pause.

And I should mention that the first generation iPod was the only one with a mechanical scroll

wheel.

That meant the wheel would actually spin around as you moved it.

Now its battery was estimated to last about ten hours, but this was debated since some

users experienced much less.

Now the first generation iPod was a successful product and generated quite a bit of revenue

for Apple.

But it became clear that 5GB wasn't enough storage space, as users music appetites outgrew

their devices.

So in March 2002, Apple introduced a 10GB model, priced at $499.

Now this model also featured Vcard compatibility, meaning it could display contact information

for contacts synced from a Mac computer.

And just three months later, on July 17th, 2002, Apple introduced the second generation

iPod, and although its design was almost identical, it did featured a few small improvements over

its predecessor.

It allowed for better port accessibility and replaced the mechanical scroll wheel with

a new, touch-sensitive wheel.

This model was available in 10GB for $399, but it also came in 20GB, priced at $499.

And in order to make the iPod line more affordable, Apple decided to keep its first generation

iPod on the market but lowered its price to $299.

Now I should also mention that the second generation iPod was the first to feature special

edition models.

Users could engrave No Doubt's band logo or the signature of Madonna, Tony Hawk, or

Beck on the back of their iPod.

But it did cost an extra $50.

Now it wasn't until April 29th, 2003, that Apple returned to the stage with a new and

completely redesigned third generation iPod.

This device was significantly thinner than the previous models and it replaced the ordinary

FireWire port with a proprietary 30-pin dock connector that drew a lot of attention.

Placement of the buttons was also changed, being placed in a line beneath the screen

rather than around the touch wheel.

The third generation iPod also featured a sleek design with slightly rounded edges that

made it more comfortable and satisfying to hold.

And as for the storage, there were three options available: 10GB for $299, 15GB for $399, and

30GB for $499.

Unlike prior generations, all models of the third generation iPod were compatible with

both Windows and Mac, although Windows users still had to reformat the device before use.

And this generation actually experienced a drop in battery life, from 10 hours, to 8

hours.

This was because Apple used a lithium-ion battery instead of lithium polymer to reduce

the iPods cost.

The following year in 2004 Apple released the fourth generation iPod as well as two

other special edition devices.

The first special edition was called the iPod+HP, announced on January 8th, 2004, and was a

collaboration between Apple and HP.

Now the device featured an HP logo on the back and was fully distributed through HP

only, making it an official HP product.

In fact, Apple wasn't authorized to service the device, since it had to be taken to an

Authorized HP Service Center for repairs to be made.

Later in July 2004, the fourth generation iPod was released, it was thinner than its

predecessor, and one of its biggest features was the click wheel, which replaced the touch

wheel.

Now the click wheel was originally included in the iPod Mini but Apple decided to use

it for the 4th generation iPod as well.

But that wasn't the only technology Apple borrowed from the iPod Mini.

The fourth generation iPod also used its energy-efficient components, which extended battery life to

12 hours, even though the device was equipped with the same lithium-ion battery as the previous,

third generation model.

And Apple made this fourth generation model more affordable for customers, selling a 20GB

version for only $299, and a 40GB version for $399.

Another special edition iPod was released on October 26th, 2004, but this time featuring

its own unique design.

It was a U2 edition of the iPod, which came out at the same time as U2's album How to

Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, and featured a red and black color scheme that matched the album

art.

Now U2 fans went crazy over this product, even though it sold for a $50 premium over

the standard iPod.

And part of its success was probably due to the bundled content, which was a $50 discount

for the purchase of U2's entire back catalogue, as well as 30 minutes of exclusive video content

available on the iTunes store.

Now around the same time as the U2 iPod, Apple released another model, the iPod Photo, which

was considered to be an advanced, premium version of the fourth generation device.

As such, the iPad Photo featured an LCD screen that could display a total of 65,536 colors

and supported graphic file formats including JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF and PNG.

Users could connect their iPod Photo to a television and play slideshows using the included

TV cable.

This model was available in a 40GB version for $499 and a 60GB version for $599, which

was more expensive than any other iPod model up to that point.

Now the iPod Photo was definitely a welcome improvement to the iPod line, but it didn't

mark a new generation.

That didn't happen until October 12, 2005, when the fifth generation of iPod was announced.

But before we get into that, I want to mention a special Harry Potter edition of the fourth

generation iPod that was released just one month before.

It went on sale at about the same time as the Harry Potter audio books became available

on iTunes.

The Harry Potter special edition iPod featured the Hogwarts logo on the back and included

all 6 Harry Potter audiobooks.

Now we can talk about the fifth generation iPod that was released just one month later.

It featured a 2.5" screen and a smaller click wheel.

This was also the first iPod capable of playing videos, and the first standard iPod to be

available in two colors: black and white.

The fifth generation iPod also marked the second time Apple fully redesigned the product.

It featured a completely flat front plate and was much thinner than any of its predecessors.

It could play TV shows, movies, podcasts or music videos in MP4 and H.264 formats.

It also came with an S-cable that allowed it to play videos and slideshows on other

displays.

Now the 30GB version of this iPod was $299, while the 60GB model sold for $399.

Now on September 12th, 2006, Apple updated this model but didn't consider it a new

generation.

So many users informally referred to the new model as the five-and-a-half generation.

It featured a brighter display, longer video playback time, a new search feature, and better

quality earphones.

But this updated model actually lacked something, and that was the iTunes installation disk,

since users were now able to download iTunes through Apple's website.

There was also a change made to the iPods storage space, since the 60GB model was upgraded

to 80GB, all while lowering the iPods price by $50 for each model.

And finally, on September 5th, 2007, Apple introduced the 6th and final generation of

the iPod and added the "Classic" suffix to its name.

The iPod Classic featured a thinner design and outstanding battery life of up to 36 hours

of music and 6 hours of video.

The model kept the previous generation's 2.5" backlit display but it featured a completely

different user interface.

The biggest change was definitely the front plate, which was now made of anodized aluminum

rather than plastic.

And because of this material change, its signature white color was replaced by silver.

Now this model was available in an 80GB version for $249 as well as a 160GB version for $349,

so you can really see the improvement in the price-to-memory ratio compared to the early

generations of the iPod.

However, on September 9th, 2008, Apple discontinued both of these versions and replaced them with

an even thinner 120GB model that sold for only $249.

This updated version also introduced some new features, including Genius and audio recording.

So the iPod Classic was officially discontinued on September 9th, 2014, likely because of

low sales and waning consumer interest in the product.

But Apple claimed the iPod Classic was discontinued because some of its components were no longer

being manufactured.

But I think it's clear that, considering how most people listen to music today, the

iPod Classic no longer served much of a purpose.

It had no wireless capabilities at a time when streaming became the status quo.

And it still used the click wheel interface which felt pretty outdated after getting used

to modern touchscreens.

And on top of that, very few people are interested in carrying an iPod with them in addition

to their iPhone.

But despite all that, something interesting happened after the iPod Classic was discontinued.

Its resale price skyrocketed.

During its peak, the 160GB iPod Classic was going for around $500, almost double its previous

retail price.

So I would be mistaken if I said there wasn't demand for high capacity iPods, but I think

that demand is falling as higher capacity iPhones are released and streaming becomes

even more popular.

Classic Tuna Noodle Casserole ~ Retro Recipe ~ Noreen's Kitchen - Duration: 10:03.

Hi everyone, welcome back to the kitchen and today we're gonna remake an old favorite. We're gonna revisit tuna noodle casserole

I had actually this is our third

go-around with this recipe

Because I have literally made it I think four times on this channel and it has just stood the test of time

But the last incarnation was not great quality not great sound quality

And I was a little bit in need of an attitude adjustment

So we're gonna go ahead and remake this today and I cannot wait to share how this all comes together

We're gonna remake the tuna casserole video today and that is because the last video that was posted of tuna casserole was made in

2012 I think and

It's old and the quality isn't that great? The sound is definitely lacking and I was kind of a little ugly in that video

So I'm gonna remake it because we don't need to put that negative attitude out there

So we're gonna go ahead and redo it today and I hope that you'll enjoy

So this is my classic tuna. Noodle casserole. It is a very huge throwback. This is definitely a

Retro recipe if there ever was one

Tuna casserole is something we always had

Growing up, but my mom's version is very different from this one

and this one is actually from my ex-husband's mother and

It is superior to my own mother's tuna casserole by a long shot

So what you're gonna start with is one

Regular size bag of extra white egg noodles. I have already boiled them and they're ready to go

We're gonna do an 8 ounce can of sliced mushrooms

For 5 ounce cans of albacore. Tuna that

You leave the juice in you're gonna use everything, you know, don't drain it

I have one regular sized can of cream of celery soup

One regular sized can of cream of mushroom soup and about a cup of chopped black olives

Now you're gonna look at that and go. Oh those olives don't look black. They kind of look Brown and that would be correct

these are the kind of olives that I have really been enjoying lately and

And that is because they don't use chemicals to make them

Black they don't use artificial anything. These are ripen on the vine or on the tree

they're hand-picked and then they're processed and brined and they're delicious and

You can find these in the aisle where they sell the pickles at your grocery store

That's all that's in this casserole and it's super delicious. So really we're just gonna get started by mixing everything up

I like to use the pot I boil the noodles in because that saves a mixture of dirty Bowl

Just go ahead and put your cream of soup in the pot now look

You guys know that you are not going to see me use cream of soups

very often that are right out of a can this is

One of the exceptions there are a couple. I just don't like them. I don't use them very often

There is another recipe I use a can of cream soup in

That we like a lot as a family and I'll have to share that with you one of these days

I think you'll enjoy it. It's just like an herbed chicken and you make it on the top of the stove in a skillet. So

We're gonna go ahead and pop in all

Of this stuff. I like to mix up the sauce

First and then

Vlad knows

Awesome

Mix this up

And you don't have to flake the tuna a whole lot

Just break it up a little sometimes those nice big chunks are a wonderful bite

When you bake up the casserole now, I have my oven preheating at 350. This is just gonna stay in there for

About a half an hour until it's nice and bubbly. This is super simple. This is like basic home Eckford

This is what you're gonna learn how to make in home economics class

And I have four cups of chair cheese here and we're gonna use half of it in the sauce. I

Do not put peas in mind because they know P is going in my tuna casserole

You absolutely can if you want that's up to you

My mom never put peas in hers and David's mom never put peas in hers either so

All right. So now as you can imagine the next step is to put this

The noodles in here and give everything a good toss now

Here is where you may or may not wish to add some milk and I think I'm gonna do that

Get this a good toss

And I'm gonna have that milk I have poured myself about a cup of milk

If you like your tuna casserole a little saucy, err then I have made mine today

Feel free to add an extra can of cream of soup either the mushroom or the celery or both if you like

It's up to you. This is how we like it. I don't like it to be like runny when we spoon into it

But if you like yours that way, you should totally make yours the way you love it

Alright, I'm going to tip this into our casserole dish

Often I will use a foil pan to do this just because it's easy and this is a really great

Casserole to take to a potluck. It's a great casserole to share with a family in need and

they're quick to put together and

You can make this in advance and freeze

It if you want to do that

What you're gonna do now is just top this with cheese and then you're gonna wrap it and put it in the freezer

If you're gonna do that

I would recommend putting this in a foil pan because just makes everything so much easier

Then just take the rest of your cheese and sprinkle it over the top

I like to make sure the cheese is as even as possible

It's gonna melt so it's not like imperative that it completely cover the entirety of the casserole

So don't worry about that too much. Just just make sure it's as even as possible

we're gonna pop this in a 350 degree oven for about

25 to 30 minutes or until it's bubbly and you might see a little brownness on the top

the cheese is all melted and beautiful and then we're gonna take it out of the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes at

Noodle casserole is I have come across and as a side note, like I said

this is my ex-mother-in-law stress opee and it is just that good my mom used to make tuna casserole a very

Different way she would use a box of macaroni and cheese

She would cook it up and make it according to the box add a can of tuna some black olives and some mushrooms

Put it in a casserole dish with crushed potato chips on top and you could do that here, too

And it would be amazing

but it wasn't the best it wasn't the worst and we all liked it because that's all we knew when I married my

Ex-husband and he said that's not tuna casserole when I made it for him the first time

He told me how his mom made it and that is how I've made it ever since

Do you wanna taste it even though you know how good it is already?

we always heat this with

stewed tomatoes and green beans and this is like the most ultimate

Pantry meal you could ever ever come up with

Because literally everything comes out of your pantry except for a little bit of milk a bag of noodles

2 cans of soup a can of mushrooms a can of black olives

Well, there's some cheese and some milk in here, but that's all good

And even the side dish is a can of green beans

this is the only time I use canned green beans and a can of stewed tomatoes and

This is just our favorite way to enjoy tuna casserole the the tomatoes and the green beans really add a lovely

Acidic note to this meal. There you go, babe

We only have this a couple times a year, but this will last us for two dinners

So if you're a smaller family or maybe a couple you might want to put this in two containers

I often will you know put this in two separate containers freeze one cook one and then have it ready

There's always better fresh, but it's not bad leftover. So keep that in mind. I hope you enjoyed today's

Okroshka on kvass: a classic recipe - Duration: 2:06.

Ingredients for 5 servings: kvass - 0,7 l; potatoes - 250 g; boiled sausage - 200 g; eggs - 3 pieces; mayonnaise - 3 tablespoons; mustard - 1 teaspoonful; cucumbers - 3 pieces; dill - bunch; salt - to taste

Hello! Today we are cooking okroshka

Boil potatoes and eggs

Cut the sausage into cubes

Slice the cucumbers

Peel the eggs, separate the yolks from the proteins

Cut egg whites

We'll mix yolks with mayonnaise and mustard

Add the mayonnaise and mustard to the yolks, mix

Peel and cut the potatoes

Fill everything with kvass

Stir

Add salt if desired

You can pour okroshka on portions plates. Bon Appetit!

Classic Macaroni Salad - Duration: 1:34.

Classic Macaroni Salad "This is a salad that everyone seems to love.

I always get lots of compliments on this recipe and it is just a pleasing taste that seems

to suit everyone."

Ingredients • 4 cups uncooked elbow macaroni

• 1 cup mayonnaise • 1/4 cup distilled white vinegar

• 2/3 cup white sugar • 2 1/2 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard

• 1 1/2 teaspoons salt • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

• 1 large onion, chopped • 2 stalks celery, chopped

• 1 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped • 1/4 cup grated carrot (optional)

• 2 tablespoons chopped pimento peppers (optional)

• Add all ingredients to list Directions

Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil.

Add the macaroni, and cook until tender, about 8 minutes.

Rinse under cold water and drain.

In a large bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, mustard, salt and pepper.

Stir in the onion, celery, green pepper, carrot, pimentos and macaroni.

Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving, but preferably overnight.

The "Isn't She Lovely" singer, 68, took to the stage just before the recessional to perform an instrumental version of "The Lord's Prayer" on harmonica to pay tribute to the Queen of Soul during her star-studded memorial service at the Greater Grace Temple in her native Detroit on Friday

Afterwards, he delivered a short prayer remembering his late friend. "Without God's goodness and greatness, we would have never known the Queen of Soul

We would have never known the joy that she brought to us, we'd have never known someone who could express in song the pain that we felt

But before we do that, give us the big picture for people that are just joining us for the

very first time.

Hindson: Okay, John.

We're coming up on the halfway point of the book of Revelation.

Chapter 1 is like the preface, the introduction.

The risen Christ appears to John on the island of Patmos and commissions His own personal

disciple, "Write the book of the Revelation."

Then in chapters 2 and 3 Jesus proclaims, a proclamation of the letters to the seven

churches in Asia Minor back on the coast.

And to each church He speaks as Lord of the church with authority.

And then we came to the section where you have the problem that had to be resolved in

the book in chapters 4 and 5.

John was caught up into heaven.

He sees God the Father on the throne.

The seven-sealed scroll is in His hand, but no one is found worthy to open the seals and

proclaim the inheritance until the Lamb appears.

And Jesus then appears throughout the book of Revelation symbolically as the Lamb of

God, the one who died for our sins.

He is worthy; He can come and open the scroll, pronounce the judgments.

And then we saw that as He opened the seals you begin to see a process of judgment that

follows in chapters 6 through 11.

The six seals are opened; the wrath of the Lamb is being poured out.

Then you have an interlude.

Then the seventh seal is opened.

And out of the seventh seal come the sounding of the seven trumpet judgments.

And then after the seven trumpet judgments, reach the sixth one, all of a sudden you have

another interlude that deals with the little book that John was told to eat[!?] and two

dead men that are going to be killed [!?] and yet resurrected and will come back to life!?

What in the world is all of that about right there in the middle of the book of Revelation?

Ankerberg: Yes.

Let's start, Ron, with the little book.

What in the world is this little book that they're talking about?

Rhodes: Well, there's different interpretations as to what that little book is.

In fact, just recently I was looking at some commentaries and one guy thought it was maybe

a title deed of the earth, kind of similar to what we talked about earlier with the other

book.

Ankerberg: With the scrolls.

Rhodes: There's others who say it's the seven-sealed scroll itself.

I personally believe that it contains information about the prophecies that are yet to come

during the tribulation period.

And, in fact, if I was to title it, I would title it "Things to Come," kind of like

the book of one of my old professors, Dwight Pentecost.

The reason I think it contains that information is that John is portrayed as eating the book.

And it's sweet to the taste, but then it becomes sour.

And what I think that means is that he's talking about the good stuff that's yet

ahead for Christians.

We've got the millennial kingdom coming; we've got the eternal state which is just

indescribably great.

So that's sweet.

But then as it goes down to his stomach it turns sour.

And I think that that probably metaphorically represents the prophecies about unbelievers

and the judgments that are yet to come for them, especially those terrible, terrible

bowl judgments at the end that will unfold in rapid-fire fashion.

What is the standard for medical malpractice? - Duration: 6:34.

My name is Zaheer A. Shah, M.D. J.D.

I'm the principal and founding partner of Shah

and Associates. It's a medical malpractice

and personal injury law firm based

currently in Tempe, Arizona.

Well, medical negligence, before we talk

about that let's talk a little bit about

just what negligence itself is.

So negligence is essentially a failure to

act reasonably. That's the standard that

is used by the courts to determine what

is a proper or improper act.

Now, let me give you an example of that.

So with respect to the automobile

industry... Over time, negligence or a

failure to act responsibly or reasonably,

evolves. For example, brake lights.

Initially there were no brake lights on

a car, but then over time we determined

that in order for the car to be

reasonably safe it should have brake

lights, and then eventually we evolved to

the point where you also have safety

harnesses, safety belts, and now even

airbags. And I'm sure the future will

hold even further advances that

determine or define what reasonable is,

and the reasonable is the exact opposite

of negligence. Because the medical space

is a much more sophisticated service

area where you have highly trained

providers, medical negligence has to be

really carefully defined. And the term of

art that's used in that space is

"standard of care." So we expect all

providers not to be outstanding

providers, but to at least meet a basic

threshold standard of care that they

deliver to the patients that they are

caring for. How is that standard of care

arrived that will distinguish negligence

from something that is not negligent?

Well there's a lot of factors that go

into that. It can be determined or

dependent on where the provider is

practicing. So if you're in a remote

rural area, the standard of care may be

completely different than if you're

practicing in Boston. If you are a

specialist versus a general practitioner,

the standard of care may vary. Ultimately,

negligence or meeting the standard of

care or lack thereof is one of the

critical elements that are necessary to

prove

in order to have an effective or

successful medical malpractice lawsuit.

So it's one of three really critical

areas of the litigation of one of my

clients injuries at the hands of a

medical provider that I have to fulfill.

So negligence as we understand it is

about standard of care, and the real

analysis is, is did the provider meet

that standard of care? Because if they

didn't,

that's medical negligence. Well a lot of

people when they think about medical

negligence, they assume that as long as

they find negligence, or they've been the

victim of negligence, that they've got a

lawsuit. And oftentimes I have to be the

bearer of bad news, which is to state

that, "no, there's a lot more that goes

into whether or not you're going to have

a viable medical malpractice lawsuit."

So what I oftentimes suggest is, is begin

with, what was the harm or injury that

had been sustained? If the harm or injury

is substantial and likely permanent, then

that's a case that needs to be

investigated more fully. Once you do that,

then you have to look at, was there a

standard of care violation? Was the

provider that rendered the care that

resulted in this substantial and

permanent injury, was that care above

that standard of care or was it below?

Now keep in mind again, we're not

expecting our providers to be

extraordinary caregivers or to practice

in the latest state-of-the-art, that's

not what the law requires or expects of

them. There is a lowest common

denominator however, which is communally

determined by the community of providers

who all would agree that this is the

basic minimum that must be fulfilled in

order for that provider, in that space, at

that time, with that particular patient,

is meeting the standard of care. Now as

you can imagine, that becomes somewhat

controversial. So the doctor defendant is

going to find medical experts that say

she met the standard of care. As a

plaintiff's attorney, one of my

obligations or responsibilities is to

find medical experts that will further

my client's case, which is to establish that

there was in fact a breach or a

violation of the standard of care.

So medical negligence or a violation of

standard of care is a critical element

in furthering a medical malpractice

lawsuit, but it's not the only one.

So we were talking about the elements that are

required or must be fulfilled in order

for there to be a successful medical

malpractice lawsuit, for there to be a

resolution to it that is hopefully in

favor of your client. Well you clearly

have to have medical negligence,

that's that standard of care that we've

been talking about. Our argument is if

there's been a violation or a breach in

the standard of care, that equals medical

negligence. But that's not enough. We then

have to prove that that medical

negligence actually resulted or caused

the damages or injuries that we're

claiming harm for. And sometimes what

happens is, is there can in fact be

medical negligence, but there may be some

other intervening event, or some other

complication that actually resulted in

the harms. And so we have to very

closely - proximately is the legal term -

but I tell my clients that means it has

to be closely connected, not just a

general sense of, "well this could have

caused that." But no, we have to yolk it

together very nicely and tightly that

the medically negligent act is what

directly and proximately caused the

harms for which we are now seeking

recovery. Sometimes, a case can actually

fail, not because there wasn't any

negligence, and not because there weren't

sufficient damages that are substantial

and permanent, but because of an

inability to connect causally the

medical negligence and that harm, which

is why one of the medical experts that

are utilized in medical malpractice

lawsuits are actually causation experts.

So you can have a standard of care

expert to talk about how the standard of

care was violated or breached, but then

you also will require a causation expert

who can use her special expertise to say,

"I believe based upon a review of all of

the facts in this case that that

medically negligent act in fact caused

the harms for which we are now seeking

damages or recovery."

welcome to this week's vlog on this week's vlog we're going to be talking

about an amazing system that's called the self charging hybrid system yes you

heard me right a self charging hybrid system

now if you've seen Toyota and

Lexus is adverts obviously Toyota owns Lexus they have gone for an

amazing self perpetual-motion device called a self charging hybrid yes they

have a hybrid that completely charges itself what an amazing piece of

technology I mean Newton would be proud they have

basically broken all the barriers of physics and invented a device that

completely self charges now if you see Toyota and Lexus advert it clearly says

they've chosen a device it charges itself and does not require a plug yes

that's right Toyota chosen not to put a plug on their hybrid

no no there's self charges itself now if you weren't aware Mercedes yes right

under here is Mercedes self charging hybrid battery yes you heard me right

right under here is a 12-volt standard okay it's time to drop the sarcasm

obviously Mercedes do not make a self-driving hybrid but also neither do

Toyota it's time I get technical for the first time ever in my videos and explain

the full difference between different cars so obviously got a ICE combustion

car which is a pure petrol or diesel car runs on combustion fuel 100% that drives

the wheels we all know what they are they've been around for decades the next

car is what we call a battery car BEV but a battery electric vehicle which

basically means the whole car is powered purely by electric so that includes the

Renault Zoe and obviously the Nissan Leaf and all the Tesla's we then have a

REX which is a range extender this has a electric motor and it also has a small

engine the engine charges the battery and the wheels are

combustion engine combustion engine is there to facilitate the energy of

electricity so therefore it's more efficient the engine is tuned to run it

the most efficient rate and therefore that's why REX's are actually not that

bad we next then move on to hybrids now a hybrid car works a bit like a Formula

one kurs system it constantly recharges the battery from the motion of

regenerative braking so same as what your electric car does anyway all our

cars regenerative braking but a hybrid car regenerates just purely from that energy

that loss energy doesn't it runs purely purely mainly on the ice engine the ice

engine is the main form of that movement and it uses the petrol of the ice and

the driving normal driving to repower a battery to that then gets put back into the

wheels it's more efficient than an ICE better for the environment than a

ICE but it's not as good as the other two that I've just previously mentioned

we then move on to a PHEV now this is a PHEV BMW i8 a PHEV is a

vehicle that has a plug the plug powers a battery the battery powers the wheels

now being a PHEV bit also has an internal combustion engine which also

powers the wheels and also charges the battery when the battery runs low the

idea of a plug-in hybrid is you can select purely run off the battery London

taxis are PHEVs Outlanders are PHEV's a PHEV is obviously a lot better than their normal

hybrid because you if you wanted to you could run it purely off the battery and

never use a combustion engine as long as the rangers in the battery range of the

vehicle they obviously have a much smaller battery than full BEV's but

there are a lot more environmentally friendly than some of the other options

that you can get the question is where does Toyota's system fit in would you

say it's a range extender which what it sounds like a self charging hybrid

sounds like a range extender it's not a range extender

it's also not a plug-in hybrid it's also not a full BEV it's also not

self-charging what it basically is just a hybrid it

uses the ice engine and then almost like a Kurs system like Formula one like I

mentioned before it's using the motion of the wheels of slowing down

regenerative braking to charge a little battery which then puts a couple of

miles extra range onto the ice motor yes it's better for the environment than a

full ice but it's certainly not a self charging vehicle and it certainly

shouldn't be advertised as well there was nothing wrong with the term hybrid

hybrid just means exactly what's Toyota have got they're very very first

electric car was a hybrid they called it hybrid and now they've invented a new

term called a self charging hybrid which is just a way to mislead people and

consumers into buying vehicles I find that confusing so someone who doesn't

work and sort of study the electric car industry is going to find the even more

confusing than I do now the reason I've mentioned all this is I want you to go

down to the description below there's a link to the

Advertising Standards Agency and I want you to report Toyota for they're really

basically trying to take advantage of customers poor knowledge of electric

vehicles now I've not got any problems with a hybrid which doesn't have a plug

I've got no problem with it it's better than ICE car so before everyone starts

pulling in the comments no you shouldn't say this yes it is better than than a

ice car but no problem with that my issue is the confusing advertisement

that they're using and they're doing it on purpose and I think it's deliberately

misleading to fool people into thinking that it it's got some sort of fake

collection energy device it's very poor practice of Toyota they know exactly

what they're doing and they need to stop it now you might

want to know why I was making a little joke about the 12-volt battery on the

Mercedes the reason for that is self charging hybrid gives the impression

that a battery that charges itself up now 12-volt battery on any ice car

charges itself up from an alternator so does that mean that all ice cars are

self charging hybrids no it doesn't so really what Toyota should

be doing is just calling it a hybrid like everyone else thanks very much for

Glee's Kevin McHale Transformed His Body to Fix Stomach Issues: 'I Was Constantly in Pain' - Duration: 3:30.

When Kevin McHale needed a solution for his unbearable stomach problems, he turned to a gym for help — and completely transformed his body in the process

The former Glee star joined Ultimate Performance gym in Los Angeles, and over the course of 12 weeks, he dropped 8

2 percent body fat, gained 5 lbs. of muscle and now feels "confident." "I had become 'skinny fat,' " McHale, 30, said in a statement

"I had been working through an intestinal and digestion issue that was eluding diagnosis and that really took a toll on me

" The actor said that he was "constantly in pain" from his stomach issues. He tried elimination diets to determine what foods were causing problems, but nothing worked

"It got to the point where I was already feeling miserable because the intestinal issues, and plus the self-added guilt of not getting myself to the gym or eating as healthily as possible, it was a recipe for disaster," he said

Plus, he just "felt badly about his body" overall. "Not necessarily from a superficial standpoint — I did want to look better, but I mostly felt terrible

" McHale decided to start working with a trainer at Ultimate Performance, who helped him revamp his diet and put him through regular exercises

"While only a few of the exercises were new to me, the attention to detail and technique was completely new," he said

"Eddie [his trainer] was also getting me used to pushing myself to the point of failure, conditioning me to be comfortable with that, knowing that I could push myself harder than I thought I could and when I couldn't, he would be there to quite literally take the weight from me

I realized over those first few weeks that the little changes and corrections during every single rep were what was really making the difference

" McHale said he was "most excited and most scared" to tackle the diet, which was a major departure from his usual meals of burritos and cookies

On the new plan, he focused on counting his macros — the caloric content of a food — in three categories: fats, carbohydrates and proteins

That combo helped him completely change his life. "When you're investing your time and energy into yourself in this way, it changes so much of your life," McHale said

"The things that seem little, like getting better sleep because you've actually worked your body out, all add up to feeling better physically, mentally and emotionally

Now, I feel good, I feel like I know how to properly workout in a gym, I know how to eat well and most importantly I feel like I came away with the knowledge that I'll be able to use forever

In any given city, a particular market becomes the cradle of its unique fashion sense. And,

that's what makes it the fashion capital of that city. We took a ride to these fashion

capitals to discover how India reinvents its fashion quotient.

This is India ka Fashion Capital Powered by Flipkart Fashion. And today our destination

is the torchbearer of ethnic fashion, 'Dilwalo ki Dilli'.

Delhi's been inhabited for centuries. The city is believed to be the site of Indraprastha,

the capital of the Pandavas. Through the ages, many empires and kingdoms also made Delhi

their capital. Each empire brought with it its own culture and an individual influence on

language, architecture, food, and fashion. India's capital Delhi has many little capitals.

So it has a food capital, a literary capital and a touristy capital but we are interested

in the dazzling, the colourful, totally overcrowded, chaotic, over the top fashion capital of Delhi.

Here you can find the best ethnic and Indian wear anywhere in the country.

Do you know the fashion capital of Delhi? Chandni Chowk.

Chandni Chowk runs through the middle of the city. It was built in 1650 by Shahjahan, designed

by his daughter. It has a square shaped pool in the centre on which moonlight used to reflect,

hence the name Chandni Chowk. This commercial hub still holds the legacy and charm of Old Dilli.

Chandni Chowk is a study in chaos. It's the height of Indian ethnic and traditional wear.

Most grooms don't even know that their sherwanis are inspired from that Mughal heritage.

Its speciality is the variety of the markets here and their Indian-ness in everything,

starting from authentic food, saris with chikan and zari work, extravagant bridal wear and some hardcore bargaining.

Delhi has always been the home of India's

prominent and most successful designers. So we thought, why don't we meet up with such

a personality. Rina Dhaka is one of the biggest names in

Indian fashion. She burst on to Indian fashion scene in the 1980's and has since popularised

Indian ethnic wear across the globe. She is bold, well informed, incredibly fun and has

a colourful history with Chandni Chowk. Ira - What do you think is the role of Delhi

in Indian ethnic fashion and fashion in general which spreads out all over the country.

Rina - So Delhi is a hub of manufacturing and of craft. A lot of designers actually

move from Mumbai to Delhi in the early 90s because we have access to a lot of industry

which is in fashion. So there are artisans who will be your factory workers…we have

ample of them. There are machine embroidery workers…we have ample of them. Then there

are digital printing techniques…we have enough. Then you have handcraft workers who

are from the Ghaziabad-UP belt. The tasslers, there are hordes of those. The export industry

is mostly centred between Delhi and Ludhiana. Ira - But your inspiration comes from where?

Rina – Streets! Chandni Chowk! Ira – Is it very messy, dirty? Does it need

to be restored? Is it… Rina – So you go there, I will give you

my sound advice on how to survive. Ira – To everybody

Rina - First of all, walk on your toes, very fast like a lizard. Concentrate like you are

in Bourne Identity. Rina – And you are going to weave through

these spaces between humans because that's… shoulder, shoulder, shoulder, shoulder…so

you gotta go sideways. Then be careful on this side. Somebody might be blowing their

nose and they have real power. And it comes out like an arrow. And you look your hand is wet.

And there are those rickshaw jams on odd days.

Ira – And then every day is like this. Any time of the year it's like this.

Rina – No, some days I don't go. They have told me now. I know this much now I think,

"Don't come on Mondays and Saturdays". Ira – Indian wear and ethnic wear from North

India is something that is really sought after and when you think of Delhi or you think of

North India…you think of people coming to shop here

Rina – Punjabi Ira – Yeah…for weddings. So, that culture

is very strong over here and do you think that will sustain?

Rina – I think the 'Great Big Fat Indian Punjabi Wedding' will survive and so will

the designer and so will the workmen and so will you because all of us are talking about it.

And somewhere there is a very good fortune or a karma being circulated because when a

person picks up an embroidered piece or even a wedding bridal piece, at least a good 10

to 20 workers have benefited from it that chain of things. There is no way that craft

can be done by one alone. Ira – And that all comes from Delhi!

Rina – Yeah, wherever you are providing incomes whether directly or indirectly, it

will be a good fortune thing. And I think the wedding should realise that. Ira – Wonderful.

As Rina said, ethnic fashion is here to stay

and it's heartwarming to know that those occasional, hand-embroidered clothes we buy, help workers

continue with their craft and raise their families. After this fascinating meeting,

I moved on to yet another fashion veteran! Varun Rana is an alumnus of National Institute

of Fashion Technology. Today he works as a features writer and has been a fashion writer

for publications like GQ India, Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, Elle, and Cosmopolitan, and

he has an interesting take on fashion today. Ira – What is your take on ethnic wear and

the difference between the ethnic wear now and when you first started off.

Varun – See ethnic wear is something you buy for an occasion. You don't buy it to wear every day.

Ira – Right.

Varun – There is an attitude of luxury attached to it because it is handcrafted.

Now in a mass-produced way what you get in a place like Chandni Chowk let's say. It is not

completely hand embroidered. There is some modern machinery going on which is then highlighted

using some Selma-Sitara, little bit of Mukaish.

Ira – Would the layperson know the difference?

Varun – Yes they do because the difference reflects in the price. Because in Chandni Chowk

there are things which are completely handcrafted and completely hand embroidered

and they are available.

Ira – So, they have both?

Varun - Yeah, next to the things which are semi or mixed embroidered as we call them

like ME and HE - Machine embroidered and hand embroidered. The second difference is the quality.

If you are machine embroidering something, you will choose a fabric which is more stable.

So you would rather choose polyester georgette rather than a silk georgette which is pure silk georgette.

Pure silk georgette you will only hand embroider, you will not send it under the machine.

Ira – But you are saying there is a market for both?

Varun – Yes, absolutely.

Ira – And both the shopkeepers who maybe there are actually doing their business simultaneously.

Varun – No. So they carry a range of things right because in Chandni Chowk you never know

who walks into your shop. That's the beauty of Chandni Chowk. Ira - What do you mean?

So the richest person can walk into a shop and say, "Ok, show me what you have".

Ira – How did these shopkeepers in Chandni Chowk know what to do with those high fashion outfits?

Varun – Do you remember the time in the 90s when a lot of Miss India's were winning

Miss World and Miss Universe and all of them were Ritu Kumar. That was the time when the

tree of life motif suddenly became very cool for lehenga embroidery.

Ira – Right…right

Varun – Now what is happening is an international pageant like Miss World or Miss Universe is

being aired on Doordarshan. And these Chandni Chowk shopkeepers are sitting in their beautiful

courtyard homes in Old Delhi with their wives and children. And they are seeing Ms Yukta

Mukhi winning Miss Universe or Priyanka Chopra winning Miss World in that beautiful zardosi

outfit. I still remember the green bustier with the red thing and the trail at the back…the

orange trail. And they are like, "Well, we can do this work too but its design is

different". Let me try and replicate that. Okay, Priyanka Chopra is doing bustier with

a this thing…let me now see how I can translate it into a salwar suit. So it's pure old

fashion ingenuity and necessity as the mother of invention. These are hardy folk. They have

been in Chandni Chowk since…some of the families have been there since the 16th century.

So can you imagine they have seen invasions, they have seen bloodshed, they have seen empires

rise and fall. And they have kept going. They have survived. And they survived because they

have kept abreast of what we think are now trends but they think it's necessary innovation.

Ira – How much of that has to do with Bollywood?

Varun – The Bollywood influence is staggering. The influence is not just a stylistic influence,

it's also a very cultural and a very real economic influence. It makes businesses grow.

This meeting was an eye opener as far as ethnic wear is concerned. From the lavish bridal

lehnga to an affordable salwar-kameez, there is so much that goes into it. Families here

in Chandani Chowk sure know their stuff! I am so looking forward to chit-chatting with

these people that make Chandi Chowk what it is.

Ira - How long have you been working here?

Shop owner – Almost 20 years.

Shop owner – I have been here for about 20 years. It's been 20-25 years.

It's been 35 years

Ira – Tell me something about Chandni Chowk that no one else knows.

Shopper – For the masses for affordable ethnic wear, this is the best place.

Ira – How strong is the influence of Bollywood?

Shop owner – Since Anushka Sharma has worn that lehenga, it is still tending. There is

one 15,000 and also for 80,000. There's also a copy made from Surat.

Ira – What are you looking for?

Passerby – For lehenga and ethnic wear.

Ira – What are you shopping for today?

Passerby – I have come from Nagpur to shop salwar, kurti and ghagra for my wife.

This is really good. There is a big shop here, and I have been finding some really good things.

Shop owner - This is a bridal lehenga, and it's called 'Band Baaja Baaraat'.

Ira – It's called 'Band Baaja Baaraat'!

Shop owner – It's the best option for brides, and it's made on a micro.

Anushka Sharma wore this lehenga.

Ira – So, Anushka Sharma is your favourite!

Shop owner – I've made this lehenga and it has sold a lot.

Ira – So, what movie did she wear this lehenga in? Shop owner - Not in a movie but at her wedding.

Ira - She wore it at her wedding! You copied her wedding lehenga!

Shop owner – Yes Ira – Wow!

Ira – If you had to choose a fashion capital in Delhi then which are would you choose?

Shopper – I really loved Chandni Chowk because even the most common men can afford

clothes from here in an effort to make themselves beautiful.

Flipkart is India's fashion capital because they combine the best of Delhi's fashion

capital with the convenience of online shopping. So what has Flipkart learned from Chandni

Chowk and how does it do it even better? To tell us this we caught up with Nishant Gupta,

Karthikeya Bhandari and Sharon Pais.

Nishant – So I actually happen to come from Chandni Chowk which is the fashion capital

of ethnic fashion. All my life I have actually seen everybody coming to Chandni Chowk for

their ethnic fashion needs. Be it festive seasons, be it weddings, be it anything under

the sun. And we at Flipkart have been using that knowledge to get more and more sellers,

so we have hundreds and thousands of sellers which sell a variety of products in men and

women ethnic fashion to make it available to our customers.

Kartikeya – At Flipkart, we have just signed both Ranbir and Shraddha because we acknowledge

the importance celebrities play when it comes to fashion. Now what we have done with them

is we haven't just used them for traditional TVC but we actually seen them manifest across

multiple different touch points. Be it on social. Be it on digital. We have leveraged

a lot of visuals and sort of callouts on our own media channels as well so like the Flipkart.com

and the app. And we are also fully aware of the fact at Flipkart that when people look

for trends, they search a lot by celebrity names. So beyond Ranbir and Shraddha, there

is a lot of stuff that we have done with Filmfare and GQ, just to be on top of the latest trends

game clearly because celebrities are that important when it comes to fashion.

Sharon – India loves ethnic wear and we are the largest store offline, online, chain

of stores put together…we are still the largest ethnic store in the country.

Last year we launched our very own private label called Divastri. We are very proud of it because

a lot of people are loving it. It operates across different portfolios like saris, lehenga cholis, etc.

And the thought behind the brand was that we want to give celebrity fashion

that the Indian woman loves and aspires to have in her wardrobe. So far so good.

People are loving the brand. The reviews, ratings, etc are wonderful and we hope to make India

enjoy the brand and love the brand as much as much as we do with the selection that we give.

A letter typed from Anne Beckwith-Smith - Diana's lady-in-waiting - sent to designer Elizabeth Emanuel shows the strict fashion rules Diana had to follow during her working royal life

Before her Gulf Tour of 1986, Diana had to plan exactly what she would wear during the visit, including the length of hemlines, long sleeves and full skirts

The letter reads: "Certain special requirements concerning dress need to be observed and I am writing to ask if it would be possible to submit to The Princess of Wales a few sketches for day and evening wear from which Her Royal Highness could select items for this tour

"Their Royal Highnesses will be visiting Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia…in all cases modesty is the order of the day

" A variety of sketches have come to light of Diana's potential evening and daywear she wore during the trip

The sketches include a black and white evening gown, a red collared day dress and there was also a design of a traditional burka within the designs

Diana chose lower hemlines and kept her arms and shoulder covered. After marrying into the Royal Family, the Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Sussex also observe certain protocol at public engagements

Meghan and Kate have been seen wearing nude tights with certain dresses and skirts

It's understood the Queen prefers female members of the Royal Family to keep their legs covered

Colourful nail polish is also avoided, instead royals must opt for nude, pale pinks or clear polishes on their nails

The Queen has worn the same nail polish shade since 1989 - Essie's Ballet Slippers

Royals must always have an all-black outfit on hand in case of an unexpected death

This became a rule after Queen Elizabeth had to rush back from Kenya in 1952 after her father, King George VI died

Royal women also avoid short skirts, usually making sure hemlines sit around the knees or below them

Female members of the Royal Family also seek to protect their modesty. Princess Diana was known to cover up her cleavage using a clutch bag when she stepped out of a car

The Queen is said to dislike female royals wearing wedges, however Kate has been known to wear them when the Queen is not present

A royal source told Vanity Fair: "The Queen isn't a fan of wedges shoes. She really doesn't like them and it's well known among the women in the family

" Meghan and Kate also wear hats for formal events, but no headwear is to be worn after 6pm other than a tiara

Female royals should not take off their coats in public, the reason for this is that taking off a coat is seen an unladylike action and not fitting for a duchess of princess

Move over models, robots will take to the runway at London Fashion Week.

Could robots be the supermodels of the future? Robotics company OhmniLabs has teamed up with two fashion houses to test out the concept in the run up to London Fashion Week Festival this September.

The Silicon Valley-based business has been working with clothing label Honee to create telepresence robotic models for a runway show that will form part of an event by House of iKons, which focuses on shining the spotlight on emerging designers.

The machines will take to the catwalk for the first time in the event's history, walking alongside human models.

"My show with the House of iKons this September is named 'ÁI', in reference to Artificial Intelligence and also the play on the Vietnamese word ÁI for love and the Chinese phonetic AI for love as well," explained fashion designer Honee in a statement.

"We're in the world of AI and loving it.

I use fashion as the language to express the skins we are in.

In my upcoming show, it's not about the future of robots, of a world unknown, but of the presence, the now." "Our partnership with Honee and the House of iKons shows how robotics and the fashion world can creatively work together, similar to Kambria, our open innovation platform that lets people build inventive products," added Thuc Vu, co-founder and CEO of OhmniLabs and Kambria.

The robots, which will be dressed in "one of a kind creations," will take to the catwalk on September 15 and 16 at the Millennium Gloucester London Hotel.
